what'd you reckon to this then? I'm in the Z4 and got demoted to 7th right at the line. Is there a distance thing going on? View attachment 1339957
What does their replay show?

Yours will only show what you saw, latency included. Theirs will show what they saw, on the same basis. The "real" version - that which the servers decide - will likely be somewhere between the two.

Both good questions to which I'm not sure on either. I didn't think of latency at the time but that makes sense.

Here's the replay:

Jesus, it's been such a miserable week! Worst one since launch day for me!

  1. Firstly, I only managed a 1:49:2 at Monza after countless laps of trying.
  2. I tried 10 races, with the first nine all having the same outcome - me being taken out T1 at the start! EVERY. SINGLE. TIME!
  3. Then by some miracle, this evening I did the last one and even though I lost a place and finished in P8, the racing was close, fun and clean! Had one driver in particular, we even had a photo finish, close to me all race and it was amazing to have a fair and fast opponent :)
  4. Lastly, thanks to the amazing 9 races before the last one, both my DR and SR and close to dropping from A and S so hoping next week will be better as I was so annoyed...

The worst part of this week was the BMB races in the Lancer. They give 5 second penalties for any type of contact whether it's hitting the wall, hitting cars or going offcourse/cheating. I see you had a lot of fun and excitement in those races in the screenshot. Nice. I've almost done 20 races at Monza. Only 1 at Autopolis. It was so long I couldn't record the replay.

Meh cry me a river! I'm BB and 700th I'm the bloody world 🤣

Been mixed fortunes but not bad in some places. Bit late now but the FT1 at Monza is brilliant as long as your smooth with it:

Also this is the cleanest race A I could get. There were some angry people in the chat:

Apologies for the clunky driving in places, haven't played for 2 months.

Edit: 2 other things:

1) why did they pick such a murky bleeding day for Monza?

2) after this week's challenges, I would dearly love a race A at Daytona with the Plymouth Superbird. Anyone?

Well that just plain sucks.

I've been up to A then back down then up then down then up and just about to go back down...

It's been tough for me too, all I've been able to do is 17 races at Monza and 1 at Autopolis. The A races are bugged so I quit racing at BMB. It sucks when PD doesn't fully fix the servers and then they go beserk.

Maybe I'll have better luck at GV Highway and Spa. I forgot what track the A races were gonna take place.

Have you had any good strong races this week? My best one was #15(Monza) where I finished 3rd in the Porsche RSR.

I think I've had just about every result you can get. This is sorted by finish position:

Here's the table in chronological order. Not that anyone cares, but hey - I wrote the code, so I'm gonna show it off!

I don't have high hopes for GV...

That tracks to mine quite accurately, I definitely quit more this week than I ever have.

It's an odd race, I mean this sincerely from the front I'm battling other peeps who are clearly experienced but when I'm mid pack it is an awful experience at this track.

My gut feel is that the high speed sort of adjusts people's contact ability. Taps at low speed can me managed. At 90mph they become more difficult to manage.

Just a smiles and cry week for me

That's about 300 positions further ahead of me so what you talkin about, Willis? 🤣
Haha, I remember that catchphrase from that show, Different strokes. My mom told me about that show so I watched some episodes a couple months back.

Anyway back on subject. @GrumpyOldMan I'm not digging GV either but I'll be forced to race there and at Spa if I want my DR to go up.

This week was weird for me at Monza. Last week Monza killed me. Dropped my DR from almost A to about halfway through B. However, this week, I did great there. I’m almost to A again. Got my first Sport mode win today.

I was annoyed though. The high B lobby’s are pretty clean racing. After I won it put me in a mixed A/B lobby (mostly A). It was full of dirty drivers. It’s been this way every time I get in mixed lobbies. Is this what I have in store when I get to A?

It's a quirk of the matchmaking. The way it sorts it is that it divides by DR letter first before it filters by SR. So if you're at the top of B, you hit the A-rank drivers with the worst SR regardless of their raw DR value.

Once you hit A yourself, you'll automatically be in splits above those drivers due to your better SR, so it should get cleaner again at that point.

A: Horse Thief Mile - Mazda MX5 '89 - 5 laps
B: Grand Valley Highway 1 - GR4 - 4 laps
C: Spa - GR3 - 20 laps

Pre-work ritual means I'm 65th in the world with the Mazda let's see how that looks when I clock off, it's still about 3 seconds off the top.

There seem to be a couple of patterns forming with Race B and Race C now:

  • They seem to be alternating fixed setup and the suspension/diff tuning weekly, so one week there'll be no tuning, the next both will have it.
  • Race C seems to now permanently have a mandatory pitstop, other than that weird week where Race C was the GR86 I can't remember the last time it didn't have one.

IIRC the average laptime in Gr3s is around the 2:20 mark, so a 20 lap race in a mid-B or above lobby should last about 50 minutes.

Kie 25 have done 3 races so far, different weather in all of them , 2 dry->wet and 1 complete dry.
I was watching a video on the real Spa course, and one of the drivers said the weather can be so dynamic that it can be raining on one part of the course and dry on another. Would be interesting to see if PD would ever simulate that!
