I was watching a video on the real Spa course, and one of the drivers said the weather can be so dynamic that it can be raining on one part of the course and dry on another. Would be interesting to see if PD would ever simulate that!
They have. There was a Manu race at Suzuka where as the rain came in the beginning part of the track was dry and the back half was wet. As the clouds came in it would rain on more and more of the track until it was eventually all wet.

Heck, the Manu race yesterday was the same thing! You can read one of my race reports to see. :D

Nord is a little bit of a different animal but they've definitely done that before.

Really cool.

I'm pretty sure that's happened before... I remember the lower parts of the circuit (after Pouhon) stayed wet as the other parts got relatively dry. Lots of drivers having a sand bath as they approached Blanchemont!

The weather moves too fast usually to see it but there a GTWS live event race at Suzuka where we saw this in action.
The weather moved a lot slower and when it first arrived only Spoon corner was wet with the rest of the track being dry.
It was also repeated in an Exhibition Season afterwards:

As others have said they have modelled weather like that before. I suspect it would get too tedious or the gimmick would wear off for a daily race so random weather at least counters that.

It's a quirk of the matchmaking. The way it sorts it is that it divides by DR letter first before it filters by SR. So if you're at the top of B, you hit the A-rank drivers with the worst SR regardless of their raw DR value.

Once you hit A yourself, you'll automatically be in splits above those drivers due to your better SR, so it should get cleaner again at that point.
That makes sense. I did notice several A A racers. I’m betting they’re part of the problem.

Dr. Mrs. lived in West Springfield (while we dated) after graduating from Smith (Northampton MA) and getting her doctorate at UConn.

Can confirm zero lies detected.
Hah. Went to high school in Sheffield, MA. So just around the corner as it was considered back then 😂

What!? 20 laps at the Spa. Just say my lap is around 2'40.000-2'45.000 and I work in a pit stop or 2, that would be an hour total. I don't think I'm gonna be doing that this week. I guess I'll be missing out on the fun there. PD needs to mix up some new challenges, like maybe a Group 2 cup at the Sarthe or a Group 1 cup at High Speed Ring.

I'm getting ready to qualify at GV Highway, so wish me luck today and tonight. I bought a Ferrari Group 4 car so I'm gonns start with that today and see what results I get with it. I guess I will have to cope and deal with the A races as W.S. Horse Thief Mile isn't one of my best tracks.

So I need to learn and get the hang of it with the Mazda Roadster.

Lol, I've never even visited New England so I don't know what their weather is like. I've been to Canada several times in a decade.

Great week(s) at Monza. Started rough but ended-up being a really solid back-to-back couple of weeks there. Will be missed as it did wonders for my DR, lol. Gettin' kinda close to the '+' add-on.🤣

Really looking forward to taking a swing at Spa. Was not able to jump into the 20 lapper last time and regretted it.👍

Are you looking forward to GV-Highway this week? The track is awkwardly shaped and makes me laugh everytime I see a diagram of it. The CE is hard there, especially the lap attack. I think 20 laps at Spa is an overkill and I'm not going to put in all that work and then the internet connection cuts off at Lap 18 or 19.

I'm headed towards 900 completed races in Sport mode.

GV I am still working on figuring out. It's a lot of fun to race there but I'm just not that good at it yet. Because of that I fear wrecking everyone else's race so steer clear, if you will. We'll see, though...gotta learn the place sooner or later.😁

Given the race length, it will probably be a week of qualifying/friends list battlin' to MAYBE survive some weekend race attempts at Spa.🤣

Think I'm right around 450 races so far. Stoked that almost half of them ended as top-5's. Not so stoked that only a quarter-ish have been 'clean' races. Gotta work on that. And, yeah, if I had to worry about a dropped connection after 30+ minutes of racing, I'd opt-out, too.🤬

Spa is big enough that this daily does model different parts of the track getting wet, you can see it by where the cubes of blue go on the most zoomed in version of the radar.

Les Combes through Pouhon is a block, Stavelot through Blanchimont is a block, the last corner through La Source is a block and Eau Rouge through to the end of the Kemmel straight is a block, where each block it can rain or not (or have different intensity rain).

It helps that they've modelled realistic weather speed now and it isn't hurricane-force anymore.

So mixed review for me this week on daily c

The good
Weather - Finally PD have given us predictable weather! My first race I did get a little caught out with the weather as I have the light blue rain but the track wasn't getting wet. All of a sudden the track in light blue went to inters. Luckily I was a few corners away from the pits. As for my other races they were dry but the little blue rain did linger over the track which made you think. 10/10 on this
Gr3 - l love Gr3 cars. Plus we never had them in wet conditions (for a daily race) so thumbs up for me on that. Did 2 races in the 650s and 1 in the 911. McLaren was very understeery for my first race but felt better the next race and I found a good pace from it. 2.19/20 race pace
Spa - love spa. Also putting it as a feature long race with 20 laps just makes this week's daily race bit more special, especially with the weather

The bad!
Race length - contradiction here but the race length is too long at times. My first race was enjoyable as we had rain and it dried out so I had the planing off keeping the tyres cool in the off line wet, plus managing the gaps to cars. 3rd race was really enjoyable as I got taken off and then it was a recovery drive to P5. But my 2nd race was dull!! I spent 15 laps on my own just driving round, not catching nore been catched.
Player lobby sizes - we need 5 extra cars in the lobby. Finished with 10, 12 and 13 cars in my races.
Driving standards - awful at times today. People still racing like it a 4 lap daily b sprint race. All 3 races I was taken out.

2/3 races for me were good fun. I'll definitely be doing more of these throughout the week

Here is this weeks guide for you! I actually was involved in the biggest Crash I've ever experienced in Gran Turismo 7 I think? Had more cars in the crash than a wreckfast 🙈 ..

The weather doesn't move that quick, but it can move generally if it's within 30 miles and moving to the track it'll probably hit otherwise it won't.

I'm looking forward to your guide Tidgney. You always provide excellent high quality videos for us in each week. However the Spa races are going be too tedious for me this week.

Man what else can I say about Daily Race C today. I only did one today due to the long interval but what a race that was especially since it was my first long Daily Race in a while plus in rainy conditions as well.

So I spent the first 30 mins just grinding Le Mans WTC 700 and then I decided to do some quali laps before Daily Race C becomes available for entry. There I was able to muster a time of 2:17.6 which sadly wasn't enough for a pole as I can only start P2.

Race begins and I managed to pass the 650S on Bruxelles at lap 1 and then me and the R8 driver were keeping it close until he passed me on lap 4 but then disaster struck at the end of lap 4 where this happened. I wasn't affected that much dang that was oof.

So yeah in addition to that, rain started to fall at lap 6 and I gambled on the inters when I boxed for wets, a slight refuel, and to accommodate the mandatory pit stop rule. And then I got jumped by the RC F user but at the cost of not changing into wets which was his/her downfall while it was my gain. I forgot to mention, I got a 3 sec time for crossing the pit lines which again looking back I was so lucky in this session despite getting a .5 sec time penalty for track limit breach and that aforementioned penalty.

The Macca took advantage afterwards but not for long because it looked like he was slow on the wet conditions and he had to take a .5 sec time penalty for a track limit breach. I passed him and from there I went on to win this race and also my first wet race win too. It felt like this was payback to the last time I raced in wet Spa with Gr.3 cars back in GT Sport.

This is my fear. An hour is a lot to commit to. I do see myself doing so QT though... I'm currently running the 4C for fun. I'm a lot off the pace currently in my morning stint while having tea. Think I'm running mid 19s but I crashed at the chicane on that run so I think my QT is currently low 1:20s. I feel this car can get to high 18s but not sure beyond that in my hands,.

The last long one at Suzuka I got bored after getting dropped so I only did the one race. That might happen again with Spa. I do wish that PD would up the grid on the longer races to 24 - like the GTWS.

A bonus GTWS race this morning! Fresh off two weeks of driving the audi (and I own inters and wets - don't forget those), I jumped in for one, even though I should be working :)

Guys are driving laps one and two like it was a two lap race. I hope that settles down through the week. Glad there is not heavy damage, I got buried pretty early.

My race showed the lightest blue throughout the middle of the race but I only saw a slight blip on the gauge a couple times. Nothing the RMs couldn't handle, maybe with a little extra TC. One driver gambled on inters and lost.

It's a required pit stop, but if you don't have rain, you'll need tires anyway. I stopped at lap 10, an extra lap or two of fuel needed.

The other thing I learned - I need to up my race pace! The difference with dailies and GTWS, at least in the morning, I'm in lobbies with some of the best and fastest A+.

"Driving standards - awful at times today. People still racing like it a 4 lap daily b sprint race. All 3 races I was taken out."

Seen the same thing. Been pushed off the Kemmel Straight 2x in a row on lap 1. These were AS lobbies, I would have expected a bit better. Really frustrating waiting for a hour just to have the time spent wasted.
