Did my first race of the week and went reasonably well...

Started in P8 after setting a 1:55:7 at Grand Valley, which I definitely need to improve on. Lap 1 I had a bit of contact in the tunnel after Sector 2 but I don't think I could have done much about it.

Did a double overtake as they served their penalties but the one in front tried to block me and we ended up 3 or 4 wide into the corner?! I took the very inside line, trying to slow down and get away without hitting anyone but one of them turned into me after being swiped by a really dirty driver.

I squeeze through but same scumbag t-bones me a few seconds later, I manage to hold it and thankfully, his slow exit at the very start of the straight (bridge) meant that I was just enough ahead for him not to catch me into T1 with the slipstream. I gap him and that's the last he bothers me. Lap 3 I catch up to P4 and P5 and they make contact at the end of Sector 1. I saw it happen a few car lengths ahead so had time to think and managed to squeeze past both for the 2nd double overtake of the race :)

He did catch me and pass T1 next lap from slipstream, I didn't want to risk contact so defended very lightly with the plan of cutting inside and darting ahead. However, he blocked my line well, we had some close racing next corner and then towards the end of Sector 2, with a P5 finish secure (was more than 3s ahead of P6 behind) I took the result and let off, not wanting to risk P4 and my own result so still happy!

Looks like this week is the perfect time to get back into Daily Races. Gr.3 at Spa is already a great combo by itself, then we have dynamic weather and enough laps for different strategies to play out. I hope we have more of this kinda Race C more often.

Broke into 2:16’s in Quali after around 15 laps. The McLaren feels really good here and on RMs! Was on BB +3 to the Rear on this lap.

Decided to jump straight into the race as dynamic weather deemed QT less important, or so I thought. Starting from 7th, was up to 5th by Lap 2. Then proceeded to be in a close fight with 4th to 8th for the rest of the race as they did have better race pace. It was however a bone dry race but the close and clean racing was simply awesome despite my small errors here and there. Finished 5th and my best ever finish in an all A+ lobby.

Still got a lot to learn in those higher lobbies in the sense of “when to work together and when to go for an overtake” though (Check out 3:37:10 in Rory’s stream of this very race and where I had a close encounter with him) - any tip or suggestions are welcomed.

I saw your QT time and was a bit in shock! Then I checked your profile and saw you are A+ now and everything made sense. Congatz!!
It will be my first race after 3.5 weeks travelling and I am totally hyped. Love long races with dynamic weather. I only did 7 laps QT, 2.18.4x for now. Funnily I had BB on +2 to the front… will try your -3 and see if it helps me.
Tomorrow I jump into 2-3 races hopefully. So excited!

I just won 7 races in a row, never happened to me before ?!!

All in race B, I have a good qualif time (1:54.923), but could definitely be better, I botched several promising attempts.

The 8th race, I finished 4th in a race with A+ racers, BUT with the best lap !! Which is as good as a victory for me :)

Couple races on my alt trying to figure out the 🐐 OF ALL COMBOS….ever. So far my best Q is a 2:17.8 in my Ferrari, but I know in theory there should be some more pace in a Macca or Porsche. Just can’t seem to figure those cars out.

I know that PD is doing this in response to Iracing and their new dynamic weather engine, and while it’s disappointing that PD could have seemingly done this all along, I’m glad they’re doing this now. As long as they give us a daily C like this at least once a month…but preferably bi-weekly, I’ll be a happy camper

Had some great racing tonight in race C, I turned in a poor quali time after only 3 or 4 laps practice so got to battle through the field.

I'm in an odd spot where A+ drivers are way too quick for me, but I do quite well against most A drivers, this race was quite lonely as I got to P3 from lap 4 then gaps were just growing ahead and behind.

As a side note, I like that I get to see myself in peoples streams so often these days, here's me overtaking Super GT on stream last week :D It is surprisingly nerve wracking though knowing ~5k+ people are watching you drive from directly behind. Appeared on a Kie stream too where he was encouraging Foosa to send it on me for the lead in the final turn.

I've never driven Grand Valley before, except for the South Reverse we did a couple of weeks ago. It's taking me some time to learn the track, but at least as far as qualifying is concerned, it seems like a blast!

Lots of places where you can gain or lose time by the handfuls, which hopefully means I've got a lot of room for improvement on my QT.

When I was watching some replays, I was afraid I might get dizzy while racing, but not at all. And no, I don't have VR (although I tried it for a short period of time), which is a good thing because this track would definitely cause me to hurl.

There has been a bug for the BMB races, I did three of them and everytime I get to Lap 4 the connection cuts off so my race is terminated.
Why did PD add those 5 second penalties to BMB? The past three races that I've done there, on Lap 4 my internet connection cuts off.
I can't finish any of the A races because when I get close to the finish I see that same error message where the internet connection cuts off.
I think 20 laps at Spa is an overkill and I'm not going to put in all that work and then the internet connection cuts off at Lap 18 or 19.
Ah, so it's about a 50 minute race at Spa. Maybe that won't be too bad if my connection can hold up.
I assume you've done all this?

If you can't wire it in directly, Chris, you can get powerline adapters that plug in and use your houses wiring as a cable. The you can just run the ethernet from the socket you've got probably got your PS4/5 extension lead plugged in to.

Not as good as directly wiring in but a damn sight better than Wi-Fi..

Hey @Moose78 - that was you I saw today wasn't it?

If so, sorry if it looked I dived on you on turn 1; I just braked late and was trying not to hit you!

And sorry you had to see my miserable excuse for racing. Thought I could get around one more lap before the rain came. I thought wrong. Also didn't help that the clown posse took me out at the busstop on lap1.

Good driving! And good to see you (if that was you?!)

Bad week at Monza meant I fell back to C. But it has its advantages - just won a race at Spa from 8th. Great battle with P2. Passed him on lap 19 after several laps of close racing, and he almost passed me at the bus stop on the last lap. Won by .192 of a second.

It’s a shame PD haven’t been doing this from the start and I agree, I think this has been fuelled by other titles. The most fun I’ve had on the game is private lobbies with friends. We been creating, strategy races, weather races, day night cycle races and they always been fun. You go to Daily races and it always minimal tyre or fuel wear, a few laps too short, always racing in the afternoon in either sunny or mixed clouds, and the dynamic weather never been used. Hopefully this the start off more exciting races from PD………?

I'm down in C as well. It was GVH that did it. Knew I shouldn't have even tried to race there, I'm as hopelessly off the pace as ever.

Spa is much better though (apart from the final chicane, I outbraked myself 5 times in 20 laps). Should be able to get back up to B in no time.

Yep. That was me. It was good to race with you! And no worries! If I remember right, I'd stupidly gotten myself boxed in on either side going into La Combes and started slowing down way earlier than the usual braking point to try to get out of it. I think I might have been the cause of some chaos behind because of it. Apologies if you got caught up in that. Frankly, I felt lucky just to get out of it alive. From the sounds of things, I have you to thank for it.

Gv’s a great flinging it around course. Never understood why people don’t like it.

Besides, something about the elevation and corner placement makes it really obvious in vr when people are about to use me as a billiard ball. Probably wouldn’t be able to pick it up without the side mirrors..but when i do its just a little lift on the gas and watch them careen in front of me towards the bluff. Very satisfaction! Makes me wish we had hand tracking as a little beep, beep, and a wave would be icing on the cake.

Other hand gestures are available :mischievous:

I like GV but the final complex just out of the tunnel I don't enjoy at all, doesn't flow nicely for me or I get a limits penalty for the inside of the left hander.

I'm loving the long race for race C this week. But it doesn't seem many others do. Probably the last one we will see for quite a while. So many quitters. I made a lot of mistakes but you have so much time to recover!

Posted a 2nd place...only with 5 cars finishing. It was great though. Such a different mind set to the usual races! But I pushed way to hard to long making too many mistakes. Then when I stopped pushing and just flowed with the track I knocked 3 seconds off coming down to a 2:19.

Have fun!!

Yeah, I've thought it would be nice to have hand... and finger tracking.
Thumbs up, a wave, and the one finger salute would be ideal.

Also, head tracking. I want you to see me staring at you as we go double wide through corners.

@Chrome_PuPXD gv is a course of interesting apexes. I find slower and wide on the first corner helps taking the second and third with a bit more momentum. It can get really tricky with traffic though

Top Tip for Daily C drivers!

Inter vs wets.
So I’ve done a few races now were it been wet and the bar has been on or hovering on the full wet line. Both races I fitted inters had so much more pace in the first 5/6/7 laps, but the last 3/4 laps my pace and grip just vanishes and its cost me places.

Anyway after looking at the replays I’ve noticed the inters get very cold during the later stages if the track doesn’t dry up.
IMG_5737.jpeg
my tyres you can see a faint blue band around the fronts

IMG_5736.jpeg
My opponent who caught up like 15 seconds doesn’t have that blue band and the tyres are warmer so are obviously giving more grip.

I think going forward if you see dark blue rain, and it’s lasting the full race Wet tyres might be the better option and offer you way more grip.

——————————

Other than that had a great race just now. Mixed DR A/B lobby. 1 race away from DR A on 2nd account. Started in P9, fell backwards a little, but keeping it clean all race. Lap 6 the rain comes and I’m P6. I under fuel and jump a car and then on the fresh inters I gain 4 places to P2, but once the inters got cold I lost 20 seconds to P1, and lost 15 seconds to P3, and ended up finishing P3. Good race, and I’m enjoying GT7 right now.

Thinking it might be time for a return to online races. Been a long minute, but still paying my PSN annual sub - might as well put it towards something, right?

Daily B looks enticing. What's the car(s) of choice there at the moment? I have no idea what's strong and what isn't these days!!
