I also agree with you - it is a delicate balance for a 'game'. I haven't been involved in any serious contact in acc, but in a turn 1 situation, there can be some real slow crawling to get past an incident, further spreading out the field. But that is exactly what happens in real racing. (I know, I know, this isn't 'real' and I've made that argument myself!)

I also liked the idea, at first, of heavy damage in GTWS. But in practice, I always seemed to be rear-ended in lap one and then losing many seconds down dottinger on nord or somesuch and I grew to hate it. So much so that I started just driving on my GT2 alt.

I think there are more seasoned, veteran racers in ACC who just accept it. I put 100+ hours in before I felt even close to ready to go online.

No ghosting most certainly would be a disaster for the low ranks and likely turn people off of continuing. And then we'd see the numbers in the higher ranks plummet.
Speaking of balance, I need to keep practicing and balancing my skills and I will become an even better driver everyday, even though I won't use a wheel. I put in a lot of hours too before I started my first day of online mode, that's how I'm doing good now. There were some days where I doubted myself and wanted to give up, but I'm glad I kept pressing through the tunnel everyday. Thanks to everyone's support. So, how did you guys survive all these years? It is a struggle at times trying to be the very best out there. It's like going through regular schooling.

Aside from all the whining we do on here, the racing is very good. That's what keeps me coming back (and whining).

This one was fun. Been really working at Interlagos this week. It's either been getting punted off or fast but not fast enough. This one wasn't easy in the slightest, a race long battle. In the end though first win at the track and first win with the Lamborghini, a car I've historically never gotten on with.

Bravo mate. What an amazingly close and clean race. Good watch.

I also like your presentation - very real and easy to watch.

Gotta love races like that, 👌

Gran Turismo 7 the ghost contact penalty

What happens here exactly? Is it a glitch to hit a ghost or could that person do this deliberately? He looks awful dirty regardless of what happened.

This clip looks a lot like the first laps I'm having at TM. It's hard to avoid or slow down from some melee ahead of you, without the people behind ramming you because they brake too late or are just too impatient. It's better if you start at the front I suppose, though the only time I started from the front row, I got punted out of T1.

Never had that ghost issue before. I tend these days to always swerve around ghosts when possible because you never know when they'll come solid. Also one experience I followed someone to the penalty line for them to slam their brakes on so I'd hit the back of the car.

Guessing

A: Van race
B: Gr 3
C: Gr 4

Did two more TM races today. First one was a mixed A+ / A / B lobby where I started all the way from P16. By staying out of trouble I finished 10th, and even gained DR because some A+ and A drivers were behind me. Nice racing when it's clean like this

Second race I started 5th in a full DR B lobby. I also tried to avoid trouble, and there was a nice battle going on from P5 - P8. In the last lap I was driving P5, but someone overtook me just before the final small tunnel. He had a very poor exit heading towards the esses though, I wanted to line up very close behind him (instead of brutally passing in the midst of the esses) to take him on the straight, but I had to slow down a bit, and that's where P7/P8 just shoved me aside into the wall. Everyone continued without penalty's and I ended up P8. It's a shame when you're trying to do the good thing and still come out worse for it. Oh well, you win some you lose some I guess.

Gee, I wonder how many laps they're gonna allot for the Spa track? Ugh, I guess I'll be stuck doing Tokyo next week too. The only thing about that layout is you will get a boat-load of penalties by hitting the wall so many times. That's why I don't like racing at these urban street tracks. The scenery is awesome and it does feel like I'm in Asia but that's the cold hard truth.

Wish me luck guys, I'm gonna work on some more of Interlagos and Trial Mountain today/tonight. I need to find a method/plan to improve my lap times. I'm not getting the desired times that I want. See throttle control and trail braking is important for even getting a pole time.

I'm amused by the fact that PD is gonna feature vans in the Tokyo races, that should be funny to watch.

Man, if you're trail braking with a pad... my total big respect. Next week I'll leave the pad for the wheel, since the sim-rig is arriving. Being in my 50's (started driving at 9 years old and "left braking" at 11) I've always felt uncomfortable with the pad, needing to push the boundaries of my cognitive abilities. I can be "naturally fast" (for what is worth) and quite consistent most of the time, but I know I'm not 100% in control of the car. So big round of applause for fast drivers trail braking with the pad.

For Tokyo I'd go for the luxury Lexus van. I drove it in Malaysia once and it's by far better than the Toyota Iace (in real world, curious to see if it is confirmed in sim world). Also, due to the particular track layout, I recon the heaviest van as the less prone to suffer from "funny moves" from competitors.

Id say:
A: Agree, it must be the "new" Toyota Hiace
B: Gr 4
C: Gr 3

I know Gr3 in SPA is overused but I dont care, PD could fix it as a regular race and I wouldnt complain
That's what I was thinking, the Hiace, it's a nice comfortable drive with that, I only drove it three times at Tokyo South- Counterclockwise. It is somewhat stable and heavy though. Yeah, they tend to overuse Tokyo, TM and Tsukuba as well, but it's their game and at least we have tracks to race at weekly.

Seriously quick mate, I’m struggling to get below 2.01.206, probably Sunday morning I’ll crack it 😁
I was fighting to get through the 01 barrier but finally managed, if not barely. It was weird, once I did break through, I started hittin' optimal times in the low 00's. Doubt I'll make 59's, tho. You people are hard to catch...especially in the WRX.😁

On top of not having the Lambo's speed, the T1/2 chicane is killing me. After that it's getting onto the straight with any kind of speed. Surprisingly, havin' a blast in the last section through the bottom of the hill.

Edit. Just hit a 2.01.103 in the huracan and I always stick with the car I had the fastest time with 😂
Remember that every good exit is worth half a second, relax a bit take the first chicane slow but get smoothly on the power.

You want to be hitting the limiter on most exits to maximise the straights. In the in between tunnel sections if you aren't feeling fast it's better to make sure you go right as early as possible and square coast the turn in to the apex

The last Esses I have no idea, I'm told flat out my penalty counter says no....

Interlagos glitch. At start (7th) i wasn't drivings my car. I was in 1st player car as "passenger". Did I push any wrong button? Did ever occur the same to you guys?

I've been having a lot of fun with this week's race C, the point where I got my main account back into A+ DR and actually dusted off my USA account for the first time in months and got some really good races in. I as using the '99 NSX at the start of the week but have since swapped to the newer of the R8s and that's served me quite well.

I did get absolutely smashed in the bottom hairpin in one race though, after exiting the pits a guy turned into me like I wasn't there going into T1 and somehow that was my fault? Took me out but I still finished 2nd (which is where I was going to finish anyway) so it just made me laugh.

I hope that next week's race in Spa doesn't just have one meta car like usual, though whatever it is, I will continue to not use it and just use whatever I like the feel of the most.

Cheers for the tip! I know I should be slow and steady but some times I get a rush of blood and argh, I ruined it 😆

So here is some realities of how the system works.

My DR is now fractionally A @GrumpyOldMan wpuld probably laugh at this.

But A is a bit of a no man's land. I qt top 300 in the world, strip out americas and Asia and it's probably a few places higher for my races.

I start 12th, so you are a bit faster than B but a lot slower than A+. Realistically apart from a few people the pace is about the same in race. So you end up in this purgatory of where your pace doesn't mean much, it comes down to race craft but you never have a shot at the podium realistically but also battling hungry people in the same boat as you.

Thankfully as the night draws on the pace differential comes down a bit but....the must have x place comes in. Just a very weird category as it's not spread as much as the others.

Must admit having more luck since I switched to the huracan in race B

The time is tumbling and do you know what, I might just break the 2.00’s

🙏
Wow, awesome. Yeah, you could possibly set a 1'59.9xx time too. Just keep using the replays and ghosts. They come in handy for some tracks. Plus the course map gives you an idea of where to brake and what direction you need to be going.

Dunno what it is about Interlagos, but it feels like there just aren't that many good spots to overtake, barring the start/finish straight and that straight that's after the Senna S. Don't get me wrong, I think it's fun, but the races themselves that I've had there just seem sort of OK. Could it also be the relatively short length of the race, since it's Race A and not the comparatively longer C? Maybe it's just me and the two particular races I've had so far, and I should enter some more rounds before making a judgment.

At any rate, I really do look forward to next week's races, especially Race C since I wanted to aim for DR A - plus I'm a fan of Spa-Francorchamps as a track, too.

Spa will be great on mediums buddy, you’re right, interlagos is a tough track to pass on, it’s a good track but just too many worrying corners to be punted on 😁 I’m looking forward to race b next week sooooooo much, sardegna A is a proper fast circuit and despite wanting gr4, I guess we kinda need gr3 as it will be a monster to tame it

Enjoy your days racing

Do you hate the first left turn after you pass the finish? I do because if I drive on the green coating, I risk getting penalized, if I veer to far at the right I may crash in the barrier. So it's not a great situation here. Sector 3 is tricky and takes a lot of time and practice to get every turn right. Yeah, I'll most likely do several races at Spa, maybe it isn't so bad after all.
