Tough slog this QT in the Lambo

Edit:

I really don't understand the tuning to race competitively thing. I can see road car classes (junior touring cars etc) but I can't see that there is a massive online racing scene for it.

For drag racing yeah but multiple lap circuit races it's just not a motorsport thing.

I know people love it and that's why the Paddock areas exist to admire cars and go to the track. Just something I don't really get in the GT universe context of online races.

All that said we have a meme race in the nations on Saturday....🤷‍♂️
I actually really like the tuning aspect of Dailies when they are allowed. It creates more immersion and makes you want to improve as you naturally tweak settings to get a better time. I (stupidly) imagine that if people spend time trying to be better, they would care about results and try and drive cleaner...

What I would give my left nut for is for Poly to allow us to save car settings in between sessions and races rather than have to screenshot/ write down what we did to improve because they are lost as soon as you exit the session!

I get the race setup tuning but in a fixed class, what I'm talking about is the run what ya brung type scenarios.

Not saving tuning is such a let down for the Sports mode players quite honestly :(

Then join a race with 60 seconds left and try and rush entering all the settings, accidentally missing a few bits or moving the wrong slider... Race starts and you've got a car that handles like skateboard with castor wheels :boggled:

Personally I'm not a fan of tuning as most of the fast tunes seem like a hack rather than a realistic option, but if they could be saved to each car and readily available that would be an improvement :)

As Gr4 is mostly single-type races it would be nice to see how every other week they maybe had a different mandatory car to use - about 80 percent of my Gr4 garage has never been used.

I'm happy with the brake balance adjustment, because that alone can make or break your experience. I for one am awful when the brake balance is forced at 0, but open up the adjustment and I find the setting that works for me.

I have to admit that the other settings are more of a hassle and not really beneficial, especially since we have to redo them before every race.

Not being able to access saved tunes seems completely ridiculous for TUNED races...that seems solidly on the 'common sense' spectrum. Maybe that's the issue.

I like tuning cars, but only to suit my preferences. To your point, going to extremes on any of the settings starts to feel a bit arcade-like for me. Couple notches here and there to clean things up out of a tough corner? Sure, that's what it's there for. Maxing the ARB's? That's a bridge too far for me, starts to feel like you're taking advantage of something.

I really think the magic to getting more use out of more cars is better BoP. I don't think there's another answer and I really don't understand why a good balance is so elusive given the dedicated resources they have to work with. Then again, I have no clue what I'm talking about with regard to game development so imma shut-up now.😁

This.

I try every week we have a Gr4 race with something a little off meta but it's a hard grind and even then it is pseudo metas.

I've said this many many many years before that ranked Clio cup races are good. Ranked cossie 500s is good, golf's, DS's all good and that slower cars doesn't equal worse racing, in fact it offers better racing in an environment that would help get some of the players up to speed

Edit:

And it's more realistic, support races outnumber feature races by huge amounts.

Surely a nice bump to my DR.

Pretty sure the top 4 were all minimum B drivers

I returned to daily C after quite some time away and it was pretty good racing overall. It seems the fastest way to race is to take tyres around lap 5.
You can also pit on lap 1 or 10 and not take tyres, it’s only a few seconds slower over the entire race but you’ll be in for a boring drive on your own and then you will have little defence from those who did.

Last week Race C was dope. Really fell in love with Road Atlanta. What an awesome track to race. Just like someone said earlier, more people need to lift off throttle a give space, especially in sector 1.

Anyway, started the week high DR.B to low DR.A so racing from top 8 to racing dfl. Could manage 1.26.low steadily and some flash in the high 25. Lost two podium due to track limits in the last lap.

Did two great overtake in turn 1. Like I said awesome track

Hi guys, yesterday I reviewed all replays from last week B. Among several wins and podiums, I shared the one I'm most proud of even if it wasn't the win (or podium) it could've been, thanks to the silly way my opponent choose to end our duell. Still I think I did shown the guy how to cleanly overtake somebody. I must say that at last lap it can be "almost" acceptable, not at 4th. Anyway, like last week I'll just practice till I'll feel confy with both: track and Huracan. I'll see you in Kyoto by the end of the week, then. Have a nice week.

It seems if there is a will there is a way with clean racing. Just few "spanish kisses" from Jose. In this race I propably went side-by-side through every corner of the track at some point. In the race before I got rammed to wall in the middle of the main straight by someone who lost it the first moment I was going to beat him to T1. And this was for P9 or something. And no accident - side slammed me 3-4 times to get me to wall and we both spun. Then he rage quits soon after. All this after few laps of clean racing. I was baffled to say the least.

I can't see it personally, if my old engine is down by as much power at 100% compared to the one in the dealership (around 18bhp) it would definitely make a difference in these BoP races. You see it when the BoP changes, one car loses 1% power and it's suddenly abandoned by all the eSport players, I'm sure it would be noticeable when comparing how my car is going on the straights compared to the ghosts on the leaderboard using rental cars. I think whatever your cars condition their performances are equalised when BoP is on.

Another example, if you change the rear wing on the Silvia Gr4 you can still enter it into the BoP races but you don't gain straightline speed for putting the little wing on.

You aren't seeing my side of the coin here.

Strip cosmetics off, appreciate that cars wear in the game.

Now lap times don't seem to show a massive difference in the small pool we have.

The cars definitely Rev differently with the varying oil specs they have.

So if I know that I need to go look at the oil is that because I think "it's done the 1000k" best change the oil or it doesn't "feel right" to the previous 99 times I've taken it round for laps over multiple sessions?

This applies to QT which is BoP rated.

As I said consistency is a bigger issue but I can be very confident in when a car is reving with excellent oil and when it isn't, you can feel it in the pedal and the wheel the car just fractionally chugs a bit.

Does it make a difference, probably/most likely not.

Is it there most definitely.
On this topic. I just few days ago restored my 911 rsr body ridigity, and could have swore it got stiffer. This made me think this could actually be a thing bop doesnt equal out, if that softer worn car is a benefit somewhere. Dragon Trail bus stop first that comes to mind..

My new favourite car for B is now the NSX it's just so stable compared to the Lambo and Veyron.

Did a few laps before heading to work this morning and instantly improved with a 4 lap optimal nearly in to the 1.39:9s I won't get anymore laps in today as going out for fireworks but definitely looking forward to racing it on Wed now!

I have not raced much in the dailies for ages. Gave Race A a go. 4 races in and I have been side swiped several times, resulting in damage to my car slowing me down and putting me back from near the front into the baying pack. Either I am paranoid, or it seems to be a deliberate tactic. Is this a new tactic from scummy drivers? Does side to side contact not give you a DR reduction?

I was also away a long time - almost since the launch of GT7, and it seems this is deliderate and one can get away with a lot of tactical bumbs. I even tested this myself couple of times when in very dirty room, and you can easily bumb to throw someone off in brakinzone or just gently push people wide and easily get away with it - might even give a penalty to the victim for going outside the track. 😂 Seems you have to get well in to DR A and get a reasonably fast QT to end up in cleaner rooms. Not squeeky clean even then, but where there are just 1-2 dirty drivers that you can let drive themselves off the road.

Side to side propably gives you tiny SR reduction, and no clean race, but nothin significant. They shoud dnf people for pushing other out of the track. Atleast in SR S.
That would hurt their DR and make them think twice.

Ps. In a good place you can go deliberately off track after a bumb, and give them the penalty. Might even gain an advantage if place is right.. doesnt give you off track -penalty if they are penalised.😉

You might as well learn it here. Door banging through the corners and in the straights are not penalized. Which is why most gt7 players can execute a pit maneuver like we’re flipping cops.

That said, when encountering the inevitable dirty..i like to catch back up and follow them closely for a lap or two. Often they code brown and ditch it, but if not i try to pass them clean and show them im not that guy.

However, some folks only understand the belt and when thats the case its wise to choose the above methods to keep your sr clean.

Ps. Don’t rage quit. It destroys your sr and is generally bad form and shows a lack of character frankly. Also! And not for nothing. Some of my greatest races in dr b have occurred after some knucklehead crashes me out of the front and have been for 5-7th place. Clean, wonderful, heated dogfights between 3-5cars for laps on end. Most of the time(!), if you finish sub 8th your dr will be ok or gain a little. Sure your not on the podium, but a great race for me is about the dog fight regardless of where you finish.

No, because DR isn't affected by anything except where you finish and the relative DR of other people.

You probably mean SR, and not really, no. SR is complex, but a side-to-side contact is more likely to prevent you from gaining it in that sector than it is to lose you SR.

Guys, sorry if this is not the place for such questions. Can anybody tell me the proportion of people that use wheel or regular controller in Sport Mode? Specially in DR B or A. I just got to A and I use a controller, but I wanted to know if the majority of my contenders use wheel.

Btw I find Cataluña a nightmare with controller 🙄 already miss DF.

The majority of players use controller but I think that will get closer in the higher DR rankings.

A good Anecdotal place to look is in the TT results thread and look at the main GTP table which has controller type and Sr/Dr of the people on the list.

Ah it doesn't include DR anymore but I'm sure if you ask nicely @half_sourly maybe able to give a better indication.
Here are some statistics for the Regional TT at Lake Louise Long Track in the Hyundai Genesis Gr.B Rally Car.

Some of the data in the comparisons and on the scoreboard draw from the normal TTs; it is just to give some more information and context. This TT won't be added to the ongoing scoreboards or data as it was only regional. If this was a standard TT, it would have been the second most difficult to date. Not often you see an S-rated driver get bronze, or 43% of A+ drivers get bronze or no reward! (see Breakdown of results by Driver Rating).

Some of the earlier tables in that thread include sr/dr but.....you have to remember that the TT and generally on GTP we are very much the passionate end

Welcome aboard!

I second what @newmedia_dev said. I'd bet a majority of the folks you're swapping paint with are on a controller. While the disparity between controller/wheel likely starts to skew more balanced the higher in Dr you go, there are still tons of A+ drivers out there just sittin' on their couch, controller in hands, completely OWNING lobbies.🤣

Fwiw, you'll also find plenty of people who are FASTER on a controller than they are a wheel. For drift events the controller wins (damn near) every time. I only mention this because a lot of people think (or, in my case, thought 😁) you need a wheel to be competitive and have fun. You don't. Can you be faster on a wheel? Maybe, given the immersion is certainly better, but it's no guarantee.👍

PS - With ya' on missin' DF. That was a very, very good week for me. Much racing fun to be had, lol!

Every set of results has SR and DR for the drivers in our community, but it is in the attached Excel sheets from TT23 onward. There is an index in this post where you can click through to the results for each TT.

In each TT result post, under the spoiler 'Breakdown of results by driver rating' you can see the proportion of S through to E DR drivers that got gold, silver, bronze or no reward. That gives a general idea of the proportion of drivers in each DR category as well as their relative strength.

Here is an example:

If I may. it could depend on simple abitude. in my case I started using a wheel to drive at 8-9 years old on a Ape Car 350 Piaggio, then Fiat 500 and 126 (theached me how to properly change gear, cause without sincronised gearbox), Renault R4 (inside wich i learned how to brake whit the left foot) and Ford Escort MKII (with wich i learned how to drift on gravelly roads). It means I always driven with a wheel. A lot of people in modern aera dont even know how to drive a car without automatic gearbox. The clutch nowadays seems to be a relic of ancient times. So it's normal if there's a lot of players fast with pad ("drivinwise"), cause they did born with that in their hands like i was born with a wheel in mine. (euphemistically speaking)
