Starting to figure out the Lamba GR4 at Kyoto. I dabbled here and there with the BB, but here's what you do: +5 (to the rear), and then just figure out how to counter with the throttle when you feel the rear starts to think about sliding out. No counter steering, that doesn't work. Well, small corrections perhaps, but if you need to compensate more than a few degrees, then you're done. Evidently a well known 4WD rally thing.

I don't know if I'm the last on this one, but that worked for me at least. I'm not like the top 100, but this style got me to 300 something, 1.39.6. Now I'm 3'rd on my friends list (and you are there already mr Malta Saab :) ).

On a different topic: Is it a new trend to be passive aggressive in comments lately? A few people I've seen this week says "Let's have a clean race" - after the race. Is that code for: "You were dirty"? And no, before you ask; not at me, I'm almost always CRB unless I'm on the grass by myself, and been S since the beginning.

Really? Because it was my understanding that if a car has its engine towards the back, the BB is best set towards the front, especially in examples like the Porsche 911 RSR. Or was that just for MR/RR cars? Whereas the Huracan Gr.4 is 4WD.

I always put it down to contextually incorrect translations when converted to English (assuming their screen is showing their home language). That or people who just don't know grammar.

But you could be right, these kids and their weird sense of humour.

You're brave. I dabbled there and decided BB to the rear was suicidal.

I tried with BB biased to the front and while it makes the rear more stable, I found a tendency to push the front and understeer if you put too much brake in. In the end I left the car stock with BB at 0 and like it like that. Rear is not (too) unstable under braking and the front doesn't push. Of course I'm about a 1000 places behind @skandiamannen on the leaderboard so what do I know!

Typically I put the BB forward on everything.

I want the car to stop and turn on the pedal. And that is my style, it reigns in some of the understeer/snap over steer.

For FR cars it's either neutral or I'll adjust one or 2 clicks either way.

But I'm very much about getting my braking done, and bleed of before the apex. I think some of the more "dynamic" cars and "dynamic" driving styles probably get some benefit from having the rear brake.

But pick the balance that works for your style.

Mine is I like to brake hard and bleed into a corner. Others like to coast/brake late and turn hard it's just a driving style preference. It's definitely not a lap time game changer.

Went in to Race B with my NSX Gr.4 and its 1:41.858 QT from Monday.

Race 1: Started P14. Hard to make progress when people are trying to make clumsy passes. My fault for not improving my QT before joining a race. Finished P14 (last, after two people quit).

Spent a dozen laps struggling to chase the top NSX's ghost (Global #7, with a 1:38.554). Brought my QT down to a 1:41.432. They're so fast!

Race 2: Started P8. A solo spin coming out of the second chicane on Lap 2 ruined my race. Finished P14.

Spent another dozen laps barely getting a 1:41.408 QT. I'll try to improve that by the weekend.

Race 3: Started P6. A solo spin at the top of the esses on Lap 1 ruined my race. Finished P11.

Race 4: Started P6. The cars in front of me got into a kerfuffle coming out of the second chicane on the final lap. I felt kinda bad breezing past them, but my right foot said to STFU and yoink that P2 podium. Almost blew the final corner. 😅

Race 5: Started P5. Avoided a Turn 6 accident involing two Huracans on Lap 1, and passed a fellow NSX at that same corner on Lap 2. Held on for another P2 podium.

Race 6: Started P9. Had a controversial moment where I thought I left enough space for a pass into the first chicane on Lap 4, and the Viper crashed out. Bleh, I should've just tucked in and waited for them to serve their penalty. Finished P7. 😬

Not a bad day. Two P2 podiums, a P7, and "only" three terrible races outside of the Top 10. 😤

I'm glad you had fun out there, I'm stuck with no Playstation and don't know when I'll get another one, :(
Kyoto is one of my favorite tracks for daily racing, and racing with friends.

I know how you feel buddy, my boy messing around at the front of my rig tripped and yanked the pedal lead out and the socket too from my base! Fanatec not doing paid out of warranty repairs either, so I’m out of action too 🤨

Pretty happy with this effort.

Started 7th and got up to 2nd, along with managing the fastest lap which I only ever get when I end up back down in DR D lobbies.

Got the game on release and only a few weeks ago I decided to turn off the driving line (still have the Braking Zone on though) and I've noticed I seem to be a bit quicker and get around the track a lot smoother.

Didn’t get time to race and only managed a few QT laps to test out the VR on the Pro. Even for not having an official enhancement yet, I feel it’s better.

I enjoyed it enough that I took another .2 of my time with ease and now I feel like I have the possibility of getting into the 1:39s.

Hi guys,
I've spent the entire yesterday's free practice trying to get the last esses in 4th gear. Can't do it consistensly and most of the times I end up slower. So at the end of practice I went back to doing those corners in 3rd and improved to an 1:40.151 at fisrt completed lap. So the time I'm looking for is rather in the two hairpins, especially the last one. I then loaded a ghost of an 1:39.497 (Huracan, just to see where I was losing the most) and noticed that i'm fast as same in T1-2 (I mean perfect overlay of both cars) till the exit of first esses. Then I leave on the table those 6 thenths in the 3 following corners...

I also lost a lot of time 'between' the esses, so basically through the sweeping left hander. Following a 1:39:x ghost I managed to shave off .2 seconds of my time (now a 1:41:0). To go even faster I really have to master the esses at the bottom of the hill better. I am either braking and turning to late so I do'nt even hit the first curbs, or I brake too early and too much. I can make the apex then but I am too slow going uphill again. So hard to find the sweetspot.

What helped me generally in following a quicker ghost btw, maybe this is also a tip for others: I thought I was using the whole width of the track. I was not. Really fast people can drive almost fully on the curbs downhill (which means you have to drive onto them and quickly regain a straight line before braking) and manage to brake steadily, and then using all of the curbs through the chicane. Also in some other corners they really make use of the outside curbs (for example left tires almost on a right hand curb, before a turn left).

Yea, it's been done before (surprise surprise!). A selection of hopped up, pre-tuned street cars for rent/use. One cannot use their own. I am presuming it'll be the same (or very similar) subset as last time.

But that week (awesome combo by the way) was a rolling start on sport tyres and this one seems to be a grid one on racing hards.
This will be a new combo imo.

I've been watching a few VR replays on YT and definitely think that it's a much better way to position the car (micro corrections, coasting better)

But one thing that struck me from watching the replays is the sense of speed is so so different to my bumper cam, does it feel "slower" ie you have more time in VR?
Spacial awareness is so much better in VR I find but I also struggle with certain cars in VR too. I love the gp2 NSX, by far the best view and I tend to push much harder with that car as a result. The gp4 NSX is OK too but I find myself always messing around with the view hack to get myself sitting far enough back. Some cars are horrible in VR. I did enjoy the Hiace race a couple of weeks ago, hilarious 😂

I "assume" you're always using the cockpit camera. Is it possible to use the bumper camera also in VR? I'm way more precise driving with that view.

It will takesome adjustment and I was slower at first, but now I am consistently as fast or faster than I was in bumper cam. I've had my VR since July and it has been a journey. What worked for me was starting a dedicated VR account and starting GT7 all over again. That way you get to learn it as you progress again. You also have a lot of fun exploring all the boring cars you never drive anymore but are actually fun in cockpit.

You will also find that your favorite cars will change. Some are definitely better in VR over others as others have mentioned. Surprisingly, two cars I never much liked before, such as the Supra and Huracàn are now some of my favorites and others have been relegated to the back of the pack.

If you don't have VR but are curious, I would highly recommend it. Recognize that you would probably be starting all over again and relearning how to drive. But if, like me, you had pretty much completed everything in a prior account and GT7 was getting stale, then it is (pun intended) game changing.

Me, personally, I could never go back to flat screen driving now. VR is what I never knew I needed. It's awesome.

That seems like the biggest reason for me apart from immersion.

I genuinely think people need to drive the cars they are fastest in.

I just don't understand, the Lambo is fast out of corners and mid range but everywhere else it's deficient 🤷‍♂️
I will attest that the TT is a competitive car. I have not driven it but in two races I had it started behind me and finished in front of me.

I don't particularly like the NSX but I feel I should try the TT but I've gotten very used to the Huracàn now so I'm comfortable with it. Then again, I've yet to do a race as a newly minted DR A, so I'll probably be crushed next race...

I keep going backwards in the NSX at the start (I'm generally starting 10th-12th) then generally pick up a few places due crashes - could do with an extra couple of laps on B (as always). NSX runners out the front have won a few that I've been in, but I'd need to get to 1:39.1** to be on the first couple of rows :boggled:

I prefer the reverse version of this circuit - the chicane is a bit easier (I think) though it's been a while since it was used on a Daily - unless I've been on hols and missed it
