Well here's my first lap at Monza, with some sound. Let me know how it is. I despise the first chicane and the Lesmo corners. I probably had some wrong shifts, wasn't really paying attention to the red indicator of how to choose the correct number during gear shifts. Paying close attention to the course map can help a lot too for improving your lap times on any track. Including Monza. I'd like to get a time between 1'52.000 and 1'53.000 but that's gonna take a lot of work. Polishing up on my braking and throttle points.

Looks great, Sir.
There are definitely some questionable gear selections in there. You would probably be better off using auto transmission in Gr.3 cars.
You'll likely be kicking my butt when you get your PSN subscription back. 👍

Thought I'd share a short T1 clip from Race B. This is one of many, many today...lot's were like this, and not many died:

Great racing out there folks and thanks for the smiles, the knowledge and motivation this year! This place has, without question, made me a better driver, and maybe just a bit quicker, too.👍

Happy New Year!!

PS - Our family has landed on a catch phrase for 2025: "Roll for initiative..." 🤣

I got nailed from behind into T1 earlier today, triggering a mass pileup, and somehow I was the one who received a 5 second penalty!

Have had some epic races once you get through the first turn though.

Still loving race C.

I was just in a lobby with "Infamous Spanish guy who drives a pink car with his name on it" (hopefully this is fine for the no name and shame rule even though this isn't a shaming post 🙂)

I started 3rd and they were 8th, so I was incredibly nervous about being taken out before the race even started

Maybe it's the Christmas spirit or something, but they actually drove a pretty much perfectly clean race. Someone took them out on turn one and they didn't even retaliate when they had the chance.... I don't know what to believe in life anymore!
😂😂 I just raced with this guy. The carnage he caused was unbelievable. The whole lobby started fighting with him before the race even began. How has this guy not been banned 🤦

Yeah, it's always drama at Deep Forest and it's always packed going into the tunnels when drivers are fighting for the best position. I agree 100%, if I hadn't found GTplanet and this thread, I would still be way behind the pack and also lost in the forest. But thanks to you guys I've improved my driving skills by 70%. That's just an estimation for the past 2 years.

Grabbing some afternoon racing at DF before I need to go back to work tomorrow

Nice and clean so far

Still being caught out by that T1 braking area, good job you can wall ride round, sometimes 🤣

Edit: just hit my first win of the week, decent fast lobby but a couple well timed penalties for the guys around me helped 👍

Nice one.

My B races were cleaner this afternoon, I even got CRB in 2 races.

The last race went a bit pear-shaped in front of me, and I managed to pick my way through all the mess to finish 3rd (started 13th) - my best result of the week so far!

Nice result, it’s hit and miss where that damn T1 is concerned 😁

That win was definitely the highlight for me, after this my racing went to pot, couldnt for the life of me stop the damn thing at T1 🤣

Had a couple of half decent races at Monza this morning alongside @Childe Roland - first corner carnage and track limits seem to be the story of the day. I get the limits in the first two chicanes to some degree, but 1 second for the Ascari entry is a little brutal. Managed to survive all the nonsense on lap 1 in both races to pick up some DR, but both were a tale of what could have been, particularly the last race where is was running in 2nd on lap 8 but picked up a 1sec penalty before my pitstop, dropping me to 8th at the flag after a love tap into Parabolica on the last lap.

In the 911 by the way with a QT of 1:48.268

Delayed edit after race 3: steer clear of a driver racing under ‘Napierknowsbest’… they actually don’t, to the point of actively ruining other people’s races. When every other driver enters the chat at the end to call one person dirty, it’s not a good sign

Well, I'm quite certain that the matchmaking formula has changed from what I always thought it was.
It used to be that the system would look for entries with the highest SR ranking, then the highest DR ranking.
I no longer think that's the case.
Ranked at A/C, I just got put in a B race with all S & A SR's.

There's no way that there weren't at least 16 people with SR rankings of S, A, or B that wanted to do race B in the Americas.

They have mixed it up a bit with pace vs dr / sr now, I think this data from A is helping them to mix the lobbies to more "skill based match making" cough cod cough

I've had a rare old mix of lobbies in the last few weeks

My big question is, we're you able to bring any new counterparts to the dark-side with you?? If you're already at C, might as well make some new friends and tarnish a few of those uppety A and S types.🤣

I wonder if they've been doing some background 'tuning' lately. One thing I noticed and wrote off as me being weird was getting pounded into the death paint at the exit for T1 and NOT picking-up a penalty. How is everyone else faring in those situations (getting paint punted)? Maybe I didn't fully crossover but I felt the car go 'smooth'/slip-off on the green side of the kerb...twice.🤷‍♂️

Likely just me but wanted to ask.👍

Did some qualifying for Race A just for giggles, and actually got into the top 2k using the Nissan Skyline GT-R (R32) Nismo! Maybe I'll actually have to try this one, since I think my best time stands at 1:51.7xx. I found it especially useful to leave the brake balance at 0 while changing the torque distribution to 50:50.

Had some fun at 'B' today and this was one of my faves. Got blasted at T1 on L3 by a courageous WRX pilot with a penalty -BUT- was able to make it back to P1's bumper. Couldn't seal the deal, but had fun nonetheless:
About that WRX driver. I get not giving-up when you're carrying a penalty and all, but divebombing someone for a position when you're a 100 meters or so from the 'slow zone' seems shortsighted. Is it just me, lol?

My win yesterday certainly seemed to be jammy, the further up B I was getting put me nowhere near challenging for a win.

A couple of days ago I had a fantastic race in a B/B lobby, 5 of us at it hammer and tongs for 4 laps until I came out of T1 on top only for this chap to rear end me into T2 🤬

feels like I’ve raced a weeks worth already due to the holidays so still lots left to go at

Can someone explain to me how in A level lobbies (mixed QT to be fair, I'm B after rage quitting) that people who have done QT albeit not as fast as mine but a race is a race etc

That in B/A lobbies people are some how surprised by traffic at a god damn hairpin.

Like so bad at driving they are nailing people, like some how this corner surprised them.

You can't race against that, I have good evasion and line tactics but my god seeing the guy infront of me TBonned so hard I'm like okaaaasy....A rated 👍

Just the most surreal experience in the bad lobbies (A rated which is a joke)

Sadly that doesn't surprise me...and kinda shocked it does you at all, tbh. You're in that purgatory we ALL loathe...'The Crossover.'🤣

Sorry, I know its SUPER aggravating and I'm not trying to make things worse, no matter how successful. Unfortunately, you're now in that sweet spot where (most of) your competitors are either trying to move up to A or not back down to B. Both of those come with the 'At All Costs' asterisk, too, and every race becomes a knife fight.

Hope it gets better for you, sir!

No that's fair, it doesn't surprise me, but it does disappoint me. I know better than to have expectations.

Just a weird contrast in some configs when to run the pace you can't drive that way. DR aside there is really only one way to run the race in a consistent lobby. It's the decision making that separates the good from rhe hungry who end up with penalties galore and wonder why they are SR B rated 🤷‍♂️

Won't disagree on the disappointment...or any of it, really. We wanted to become better racers, so we did. They, obviously, do not want the same thing.🤣

Case in point being my complaint above. Me personally, I try not to slow people down when I'm carrying a penalty. Be it aggressive passes or otherwise, I see no point in passing someone just for them to predictably stroll by moments later, and likely flipping me off while doing so.

That's when I realize I'm playing a different game than they are. I'm there for the driving/racing experience. They're there for the arcade experience. That's a tough gap to bridge and I would imagine a huge contributor to people moving/graduating to ACC, iRacing, etc.

I (try to) remind myself of these things regularly to prevent the Rage Rally. Doesn't always work.😁

EDIT - Was this in NA lobbies? I hate when this crap is our fault.

Making up for lost time with a long race day. Temple of Speed, bro!

First four races: Spent a dozen or so laps shaving my NSX Gr.3's Race C QT down to a 1:49.927.

Race 1: Started P7. Finished P4.

Race 2: Started P11. Finished P11.

Race 3: Started P15. Finished P11.

Race 4: Started P11. Finished P12.

Next four races: Spent another dozen or so laps getting a 1:49.770 QT.

Race 5: Started P9. Finished P9.

Race 6: Started P6. Finished P14 (last, after DNFs).

Race 7: Started P11. Finished P11.

Race 8: Started P7. Finished P3.

Decided to end my day on a high note:

Rough day at the office! A few of my races had a lot of A/S drivers. There was carnage here and there, but the racing was mostly clean and fair. Got bonked a few times. Had a few very costly solo incidents. I didn't feel very fast, but was able to hit 1:50.5XXs fairly consistently in clean air. Only finished three races P10 or better, but one of them (my last race of the day) was a podium, and I only finished lower than I started twice.

A in tuned road cars at Dragon in reverse would be cool.

B I'm stumped. I don't recall RS on Gr.4 in the past...that much traction would basically make it Kart racing. Gr.3's at Maggi'?

C in SF cars at Suzuka would be pretty awesome and the two pit stop requirement is interesting. If it's Fuji I might actually cry a little.🤣

Thanks for sharing!

So, I’m gonna need some help deciphering this one.
I got a bad start at Monza through Rettifilio so I was already near the back (and rattled 🤨).

I went wide on Ascari, into the gravel (of my own accord, no one was even close to me). I was in there for 3 seconds, so I was placed back on the track.

As soon as I came back to life (I wasn’t even able to move yet), I got hit hard and pushed into the opposite retaining wall. I received a 3 second penalty for forcing a car off the track.
I rewatched the race and the guy that hit me received a 2 second penalty for hitting me🤷🏼

I understand one or the other but not both.
