I'm very interested to see how the DR stuff changes, this was my best race of the week at GV (and no I don't win, and on lap 4 I tap the Porsche which was no pen but cost me half my SR bar!!!)

Edit2:

The top 3 in this race didn't really belong in this lobby, they were mostly clean and it looked like a fun race for all involved but they need to balance the lobbies better, I'm not sure if increasing the point spread is the answer but they have done the math and have the data so we will see. But it's unfair for me being 9s over a race faster than the next person and that works the other way when I'm 10s slower than some of the A+ guys

End edit 2

This is about as close racing you can get, I'd love to hear your guys thoughts on it generally and the contact on lap 4 sector 3, I got surprised he braked that hard and no harm was done.

Quick edit: I'm driving in VR and the replay is console replay capture, picture quality or depth is no where near the same as the replay shows, that's the nature of projection in to space stuff.

More Road Atlanta! More Miatas!

Bleh, brought my time down to a a 1:45.400. I realize that gains is gains, but spending a couple dozen laps just to barely scrape 0.089 off of my Race A QT is wack. Track limits at Turn 5 can suck a butt. 😤

Race 1: Started P4. A bobble out of Turn 7 on the last lap cost me a position. Finished P5.

Race 2: Started P5. Blew Turn 1 on Lap 2. Finished P9.

Race 3: Started P7. Quick room. Avoided early incidents. Finished P4.

Did a few practice laps before the next race, and accidentally did a 1:45.319.

Race 4: Started P1. Penalty exiting the first chicane on the final lap. Finished P2. 😤

Race 5: Started P1. Penalty exiting the first chicane on the final lap. Again. Finished P3. 😤

Did a few more practice laps before the next race, and accidentally did a 1:45.257.

Race 6: Started P1. Picked up a rare hat trick. Finished P1. 😬

full

Decided to end my race day on a high note. Wasting two Pole Positions by collecting penalties in the same place on the final lap doesn't sting. At all. I'm fine! 😤

Road Atlanta with this little Mazda is lit.

Love the low power where momentum is key.
Love CS tires and the balance of the car.
Love the turn 1 and hate to miss it.
Hate to do a double overtake on the exit of last chicane only to eat grass in T1.
Hate to throw the car on the left hander after the esses and got a penalty by smallest of margin.
Hate to T-bone someone from my friend list, sorry Ben!

The racing is good overall. Couple of wins and lots of podiums with my dummy QT of 1.47.6. Plenty of action and clean racing ahead of me and I have spare pace so I can be part of the action.

Today I decided to push for a decent qualification time and i ended up with a 1.45.6 with optimal time of 1.45.2. I don't think and can reach the 44's like @mellofello9 did.

I wish daily A had DR turned on again, it would change the dynamic massively.
I think about this constantly. There's two sides to the coin. Firstly, as I've mentioned ad nauseum, is the inevitable slide of ranking (you can't 'earn' DR here, but you will almost definitely eventually lose SR and therefore perhaps DR too). Secondly, it actually throws effective matchmaking out of the window. I've made many a friend on Race A over the years and some of their race stats are astounding. I'm talking 2,500 races and 2,000 Top 5's, for example, and stuck in DR B. You're telling me they aren't eligible for matching in top lobbies because they (admittedly maybe sandbagging) are partial to racing non-category racecars?

I've suggested a couple of times that if they are going to insist on non-ranking Race A, they could at least shuffle the combo once or twice. This week for example, we could've started with Miatas, then on Thursday they could switch it up to Toyota 86s and then for the weekend try something really fun like Beemers. The track knowledge would be more or less intact and would definitely boost the reputation of that first slot.

The CS tires are fun IMHO.

Right on!!

This reflects the point I made earlier in the week, where I commented on the fact I kept racing against the same people.

I've run Race A all week, and I would guess that more than 50% of the same people have been in every race. Having said that, there is a side benefit to that - the races have been very clean, you get to know the other drivers' strengths and weaknesses, and there seems to be more camaraderie!

It reminds that most of the early friends I made in GT were from when you raced a lot against the same people (GT6?).

I haven't bothered with any dailies this week as I just don't like the tracks at all. I did record this last night though, just for anyone thinking about buying PSVR2, listen to that Mazda scream 😍😍😍😍. I did another one in the Nissan which was much quicker but still a solid 6 seconds slower than the top times 🤣🙈. Hopefully next week will be something interesting 👍

Edit: Looking back at the replay and I just realised I forgot to turn my exposure and saturation levels back up...that's why the colours don't look as bright as @newmedia_dev's 🙈🙈

That seriously showcases vr, that is hard fair racing at its best, I do like that 4C it is more stable than the Porsche which is a little twitchy in places in sector 2&3

Bravo to you sir, that could have been worse with his lagging and your bump potentially was his lagging too?

Awesome watch 👍

Edit:

@Tazzy-91 that looks fantastic and I’m so close to buying but the only thing holding me back is being stuck inside the car for the race view, both those look amazing and I think I might rent one for a month

Trust me, you will get used to it so quickly you will wonder why you didn't do it sooner. The videos dont really give a true reflection of just how much better it is 👍

Awesome work mate, that 1.48.9 is certainly putting you in the winning zone!
It's definitely helping, it's not quite the time I was hoping for but on a track where at the end of the week consistency is better all round and very few overtaking places that don't require full compliance it's definitely better to start as far forward as possible!

I enjoyed this one! The guy in the Alfa is at least a second a lap faster than me and their car quicker on the straights but a bit of gamesmanship at the chicane was enough to steal it!

On lap 3 I wanted the tow to take the lead back into turn 1 which is pretty easy to defend through the twisties in the middle sector, then at the end I figured he would be wise to that trick and the slipstream wouldn't close the gap fast enough for me to pass so I treated it like a safety car restart. Hold them up in the middle of the corner then gun it as soon as it would work for me to try and gain enough of an head start to hold on at the line 🏁

My takeaway of the week is that the ND MX-5 is so much more fun when there's a race for it literally anywhere but Tsukuba for once.
It's a car that screams Brands Indy, and cough Lago East/West cough and probably even Goodwood as well!

I do just wish they would fix this FFB thing though and rather than set it by car use the weight I want and ill change it to filling shaking rig breaking or drive with one finger if I want...

Things are going pretty well this morning. My qualification session help me on the grid but also on my general pace during races. I could hit the 1.46 best lap in every races compared to earlier this week when only sometimes I could hit the 46's

Race 1: Start on pole, fast and steady for a win

Race 2: start 2nd, draft the back straight and the guy in front is kind and give me the position by braking early. Then I could keep him behind and make no mistake for a another win.

Race 3: start 2nd again with the same guy on pole. This time I stay put and let him lead instead of attempting a sketchy overtake at the end of the straight. By the end of lap two, he doesn't have momentum climbing the hill after the chicane and I pass him there. I dig a 2 sec gap for the win.

Race 4: 2nd again, first go deep and touch grass. I fly to another win!

@newmedia_dev Watching your VR replay make me wonder if VR is for me. I almost feel dizzy just by watching your replay. Do you know what cause the small vertical bump/vibration on your YouTube video. Is it like that when you race?

No it's not, there was lag in that lobby which was moving the cars around.

What you have in VR with driving games is not the same as walking moving around games. You get all the physical references (spatial car, position to the road/track etc) and it's these things that minimise motion sickness.

But the first few drives are intense but more "awe" than anything.

Visually the main issues are around some distance ghosting/bad draw distances but you really really really can't or don't notice these in race.

The main plus is the experience followed but driving the car better with much more awareness for where it is at a given time.

Also looking around them is bloody cool but that becomes less of a thing.

You do get some odd placements occasionally but just holding the start button resets it.

My vids are representative of the race not what you see or feel in VR that's more 4K the vids are like really bad, like video tape via imax in comparison

It has been some fun with the Mazda this week!

Had 6 races today (after knocking 0.07 secs off my QT 😂), got the CRB in every one. Also had one of those 'parting of the Red Sea' moments in the last one - P2 to P5 all got tangled together in front of me, P2 handed to me on a plate!

No chance of P1 - he was 11 seconds up the road.....

So, as the week draws to a close 🤣

I’m thinking I can race 2 races per week and there is some road races to add to the usual gr3/4

Race A, managed to get into the 1.46s and had some good fun racing at RA, but the odd bump was deadly 🤣

Race B, improved a little bit to 1.47.654 and that was enough to bag some top 3/5s but no wins this week, got a gold on the circuit experience apart from the sector 2 which I’m .032 away from 🤬

I wonder what the races will be next week, seems strange not to know by now, will that impact next week? Maybe there’s guys who get ahead?

There’s hoping for a belter 💆‍♀️

Great race but man it's hard to watch that without feeling sick. The tech is amazing and so much realism but I need a bucket near me.

lol, it's genuinely not like that.

When you don't have the senses around you I can imagine the motion is hard to get, but when you are in that space it's much much different. It's litterally driving a car without the G forces.

I'm a massive advocate now, evangelist even. I haven't done a single daily without VR now and I've done over 5 thousand of them in GT7 alone on a single account.

It's just that much of a better experience. Honestly. You won't be sick.
