As the saying goes ' Quit while you are ahead' so that's me done for tonight. 3 races. 2nd and 2 wins 🏆 🙌 I won the last one by 12 seconds 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I have just made it back to B lobbies on my main account after a rough few weeks so i am happy enough. I think tomorrow evening i will go on the US account and see how that goes. I will try and get into the 1.31 bracket first, im close at 1.32.3, there is more time there. I find the Hurrican works really well for me at +4 BB and no TC but everyone is different i guess

I saw @GOTMAXPOWER on race C on Tidgney's video. Congratulations for the podium, mate!
Thanks 🤗 Things fell nicely on that opening lap, I do think the Porsche is the wrong car for that race though, it's nice in the corners but lacks the grunt on the straights and with the grid start its 1st gear is too long so you'll drop a couple of spots before turn 1.

The little kartbis fun, well with some help from Dr Assist. My suspicions were correct, much, much better with a wheel. Fun race, lotabtoblearn about lines though, it seems to like a high line to maintain revs.

Trying to get back into the swing of sport racing.

Started off with the karts. I’m terrible at theses but I found changing my wheel settings to 540 degrees rotation made the karts much more controllable. Best result was 6th out of three races with the first two having me crash out but it was fun. Bumped into @NevilleNobody in two races. 👍

Then took a look at race C. My tune for the Genesis X still works so that was good. Had a strong session QTing. Beginning to get the feel of this again after a month off. For my rusty driving I was pretty pleased. Have to stop though as I was over doing my back which was starting to complain.

What was interesting, is after this I realized I left my wheel on 540° rotation and not auto. I guess the Genesis has a 540° wheel cause it worked marvelously. :D

ANy tips on why my videos are so washed out and lacking in resolution? I am saving the replay in the game, playing it and recording via the PS5 share function. Something is amiss as the quality is really poor.

If you didn't yet, go on PS5 settings/capture and transmissions, set then the clip video format to highest resolution.

Allow me. All base setup for any given car (meta or not) can bring you inside the 1000-1500 best times on the leaderbord as long as you're knowing every inch of the track (RBR in this case) and every aspect/behaviour of the car you're driving. Then, if after a series of ar 10-15 consecutive laps where you can keep a delta not higher than +/- 0.1 sec and your ideal is lower than your faster one by only 0.1-0.2 sec, it means that you can't squeeze much time from that setting anymore. Looking for a "fancy" setup online, based on the driving style of the owner (which may significantly differ from your's) is a risk. The risk is to be "fast" on a single lap, but totally inconsistent on a series of 10 laps. I suggest to not waist time on looking for the "perfect setup", but to push the car you've chosen to "your" limit for the track. BB setting is already more than what's required to help you on that.

PS: For any given car with potential, let's say. Cause the BoP is really rubbish nonetheless.

I agree - a tune should come after you’re already getting the max out of the base setup. And if you use someone else’s it may not suit your driving style.

Having said that, are any of you using tunes at RBR this week? If so want to share for the Supra, 4C, or 911?

I sorta understand damper tuning but diff settings on GT7 are a mystery!

Ps why won’t they let us tune something we understand like camber and toe!

After a... rowdy day yesterday my DR was still high but my SR was in the toilet. I qualified on pole for Race C. Me and a Supra survived turn 1, nobody else did. There was about a second between us until he pitted on lap 5. I pitted on lap 7. I finished 20 seconds ahead of him.

Track position, above all else. Especially at lower levels.

I have used this previously but can't recall using it at RBR before

You may be recording in HDR which results in washed out videos on YouTube (apparently PS5 HDR and YT's HDR are not compatible). Also if you record in 1080p from live capture and upload from the share button the quality is over compressed and really poor. If you capture at 1080p MP4, copy that to a computer and then upload to YT the quality is better, but YT will compress the heck out of anything 1080 or lower unless it is 1080 premium. Best quality is to upload in 4K (you can't do that in VR but can record 4k WEBM using screen recording).

For reference, I record in 1080P ('cause I'm in VR) but then offload to a computer and edit in 4K and upload in 4K (so resizing) and that works great but is more effort.

For quick clips I might share direct from the PS5 but it always looks crap.

For the Genesis X this is working well for me:

  • Anti-roll Bar: 9 / 7
  • Damping Ratio (Compression): 25 / 25
  • Damping Ratio (Expansion): 50 / 50
  • Natural Frequency: 3.00 / 3.05
  • Initial Torque: 0 / 6
  • Acceleration Sensitivity: 0 / 60
  • Braking Sensitivity: 0 / 5
Brake Balance: 0

This is great, thanks. So to clarify, I should turn off HDR in the game or the console?

I am willing to take the time to save to PC then upload to youtube but man it seems like a hassle tbh.

My PS5 doesn't run in HDR as my TV does not support it so not sure. I thought they may be a option to disable it just for video recording but not positive. First thing to try is to record in 4k WEBM format. That usually looks good using the share button direct from the PS5. If that still looks washed out then see if there is an option to switch of HDR for recording. If not, then check if HDR can be disabled for game and work backwards.

But, do you really want to disable HDR just for washed out video?

This may help (choppy audio though)

Also just googling "ps5 hdr videos washed out on youtube" gives a ton of options.

You can see which races went well and which didn't. I should have won the last race, but I submitted the replay to @Tidgney's Plebs of the Week series so you might see why I didn't. If you want a sneak preview I shared the replay in-game with the tags potw and iotw. Some very odd people on the DRB/A threshold.

Nice livery on the car though. Lots to choose from for this one.
Just imagine this livery on the AMG at 14:38

So I think I’m getting there in race B, 10 more mins quali today i managed to bring my time down to 1.33.2xx I think it was and I was already another half a sec up when the damn race started. 🤣

In race started 5th and got up to 3rd until this bell dive bombed royally into the hair pin and dropped me a few but don’t worry, couple of laps later I kinda barged back up through there and I think he got the message because he finished right behind me aand no more dive bombs 😁

Solid 3rd 👍

Good work!

I've found I've been mostly lucky with my lobbies in that those immediately around me seemed sensible further back well you can see from my early races they are a loooooong way back which although adds to my false hubris is more likely to much argy-bargy and not thinking about the whole race....

Edit:

I do wish (the standard moan) even for B it could have been 1 lap longer to cut the wait in between or radically could have had a tire requirement.

Tired wouldn't make a difference in such a short race but making everyone pit gives options (vs the longer format races in C where the optimum becomes clear early)

So far I'm finding Race C is like a nice, relaxing drive through glorious countryside - compared to B, which is a ferocious, unrelenting blast (also through nice countryside).

Wish B was a bit longer, as the race is almost over by the time it settles down a bit - hard to line up any kind of move for having to try and defend at the same time.

I'm doing better at RBR than I usually do - maybe after doing all the master licenses and a heap of circuit experiences last week. I think I'm driving a bit smoother and coasting through the corners more than I did previously. Roll on June, when I'll be sat in the Steiermark grandstand 😎

Pity we can't have these track limits..

I'm really struggling for pace in C maybe it's just doing so much Gr4 recently the Gr3 isn't gelling (probably try Harding to much).

I might have to reset mentally a bit for those cars again.

Obviously I'm struggling for pace in B if @TechnoIsLove can be faster.

We ignore Nebu's times because he is 7ft 2" tall and comes from another planet!

Can I just say, this is the first week in a long time that people seem to be enjoying the dailies, I actually have not seen one negative comment about any of the 3 races yet and that surely is a good thing. I do agree that race B should be slightly longer but even still it's good to see lads enjoying the racing 👍👍👍 it will probably revert back to ***** next week but hey, we will enjoy it while we can 😉🤣👍

Very very well said 🍷🍷🍷

We must make hay while the sunshine's!

I'm hoping that more of the curve balls get thrown in like the grid start for Gr3 in C and holding back uploading the races on the Friday (although I suspect this is more a post Xmas new update thing rather than the norm which will resume)

The funny thing is these aren't the best races ever but they are certainly compelling and fun. If you get with the right players then the race in and of its self is the fun part positions are just a by product that mean less if you can have fun races.

Karts suck:yuck:

Though I should really say "I suck at driving karts"
🤣🤣 I'm going to give the karts a go in a while in VR, I was watching super gt last night on his live stream and even he struggled to start with which was kind of funny considering his background. I also raced karts years ago so I'm interested to see how the VR experience works in them 👍

They just aren't my thing in the game, I did winter endurance pro karts for 3 years and these GT karts (I know they are more rotax type karts than twin engine karts I used) should feel a lot heavier. They do change direction quickly and corner as hard but the effort is much more considerable especially at the end of your 2 hour stint!

But I'm not moaning!

I know my time is nowhere close to the alienistic skills of @Nebuc72 but I am still ultra happy to be in the Top 250 and more, much more importantly, ahead of my dear @newmedia_dev 😂 🤪 I know I got a few more tenths in me but taking a break now lol.

Thanks for sharing the video! I needed a few tips on how wide I could the exit the corner prior to the hairpin and how much to attack the last chicane so hopefully tomorrow I find that half a second or so 👍

Expected to see you guys were potentially flying straight over the chicane considering those times, 🤣

Keep hunting

Don't encourage him!

🤣

Edit:

They have definitely tightened the track limits from Monday. The ghost I'm following can basically kiss the crowd in the Mercedes arena and my slightly pushing wide but in a tighter track line gets a penalty!? What!
