This week has led me to change my opinion of Fuji, I'm loving the race and when I'm not racing I'm thinking about it. That's a good sign right?

I know that I've plateaued in terms of quali pace and race pace, and I'm fine with it, given that I've convalesced on my High-B/Low-A status. The races actually make sense, meeting more unpredictable types when in the lower lobbies and getting left in the dust when in higher ones.

I've only met one unpleasant opponent so far, and it was quite minor: following a car in front coming onto the main straight, we were two abreast after they'd been trailing them throughout the previous lap. Now was crunch time and the guy in front moved across the track and gave me the slipstream. Buddy didn't seem to understand the laws of physics and he tried to occupy the same space behind. Apparently holding my ground wasn't allowed and he proceeded to tap me aside at turn 3. No major fallout except I lost out in my quest for whatever position I'd been chasing for most of the race. As is nearly always the case, though, the same guy could be found stationary and facing backwards in the gravel/grass at some point later in the race.

Yeah Fuji is a revelation when you're not trying to Bork around there with a dpad, jolly good fun. Not a fan of that last chicane at the bottom of the hill but the double left hander before the last turn is an excellent sequence.

It is a surprisingly difficult place to pass though.

Weeks of work thrown away.

My DR tanked during the LeMans week. I dropped back down to DR B., Slowly but surely, I brought myself back to A+ a few weeks ago. Now, in all fairness, I consider myself a cusp driver. I'm a high A/low A+

This morning, I screwed myself by focusing on my pass and not the car in front. I made an inside move, made the pass fine, but then, t-boned the guy in the next position, who cut deep for the T1 apex at Spa. Totally my mistake.

Back the A ranks for me 👎

Race A is a decent race I have to say, that civic is a decent drive and I believe I’m still top of my friends leaderboard if anyone wants to challenge me
Close, but I think that's it, although the optimum was 1.40.896......

Nice work! I’ll put some time into a 1.39 this weekend, need to study tidges guide a little, don’t think I’m getting a win this weekend at this rate,

Also on race b I managed to get a 100th under @Barney Da Dog time so it’s very tight out there this week!

I know that feeling

The last time I have it was with Gr2 at Suzuka (wich turned into my strongest combo with severals wins in top split) but it couldnt match what it was the best combo so far.
The 1hour race with GR.3 and dynamic weather at the nurbs. During work I was counting the hours to come back home and race as much as I could. Im not that strong at the nurbs and I think I end loosing a lot of DR but I didnt care, so much fun it was.

This Fuji race is very good but not as good for me as the other 2 I mentioned.

I know its not everyone cup of tea but on Race A, I just had one of the best races I've ever had on GT7.

Lap one I’m looking in my mirror thinking yes come on, I’ve got this in the bag, go go go

Lap 2 I'm thinking holy moly that guy behind is quick

Lap 3 and 4 I’m munching on my heart trying to stop it leaping outta my mouth…….

Awesome race and all in 1987 Honda Civic….. just wow

BUFORT_T_JUSTICE if you are in here, I could hear you shouting “am gonna barbecue yo a$S boy” and Pichelen if it was 5 laps I reckon you woulda had me down the tunnel on the next lap, you was all over me like a rash for the last half a lap. Respect to you both

Here to also give some love to Race A. It's crazy how the race are different from GR.4-3-2 races. Particularly with this one.

First the pool of player is smaller and you end up racing friends and familiar names. The vibe is different, still hard racing but full on respect.

Then, the car is not planted with full aero and grip, stiff suspension and big power, which mean it moves a lot. One tiny mistake and you lose momentum, draft will not do the trick.

And finally, this track has no big braking, it's all fast curves and straight. It feels like the car can go flatout but treading the needle and aiming the perfect apex is hard.

For me, this is where this game shine: racing in road cars. They all have their own personality. Group cars feels bland compare to theses cars.

Yesterday evening we cross the line 6 cars in 1.9 sec. I was the 6th but I don't care.

In general the no-DR races doesnt motivate me to race but your pictures made a click on me as a reminder that this race is at night.
And night races on VR are something really enjoyable so this weekend I will be doing some of this.

It's so weird, it's all horses for courses but I find it the other way round. In B and C I find myself racing a lot of the same people. It's funny how these things work out sometimes.

The smaller grids and no skin in the game are often what put me off doing A and some minor other factors. But I do get the whole vibe thing can feel different.
Then, the car is not planted with full aero and grip, stiff suspension and big power, which mean it moves a lot. One tiny mistake and you lose momentum, draft will not do the trick.
I think this really does depend on the combo, a few months ago it was tuned road cars at Tokyo and that is up there for me as one of the better options/combos the game has put out. The balance of performant cars, all with different quirks/characteristics but pace and some stability or at least enough to change the dynamic and feel a bit more like I wasn't racing my mums shopping car.
For me, this is where this game shine: racing in road cars. They all have their own personality. Group cars feels bland compare to theses cars.
I can definitely see that part of the appeal for a lot of people. And depending on the combo it's more or less for me.

But I also feel like it's how you approach what you want from the game. My preference is in class based racing but everyone's mileage varies in these things.

I would bite their hand off if it went back to launch spec A races (Clio, sccirrocco etc) single make races.
Yesterday evening we cross the line 6 cars in 1.9 sec. I was the 6th but I don't care.
I really think it comes down to lobby pace and quality of driving and combo that car selection for this to happen. A good race is a good race regardless.

Ultimately all the things you like and I like are possible and rewarding in all of the race selections they put out, and it doesn't matter what the car is or track good racing at a decent pace and closeness is always just good racing, position doesn't matter when you approach each race as a fun challenge rather than targeting podiums or positions etc

Really interesting to read your post and agree but also see what you are saying in some of the B and C races.

🍻

So close to a win at Spa yesterday, started 3rd behind two German guys, just waiting behind whilst they went at it and my opportunity comes, into first, held it for the remainder of the race but 2nd was almost glued to my bumper the whole time, well, last corner it did get a bit messy with the three of us all hoping to come out on top and I missed out by a tenth, nervy race though.

However, I did notice my oil was at normal 😱

🤔

@Gurzu nice race A time sir 🫡

Those are nice, clear and unique photos you took. Reminds me of old urban-street racing with good style. Yes, road cars have their own uniqueness and glory out there in any race at Tokyo or any technical course. Perfect for any daily race event. The Dale Earnhardt livery reminded me of that horrific crash he died in, in 2001. We all miss him truly. Enjoy the weekend folks and happy lapping.

Has anyone been notified of the next three tracks/cars? I know a couple sites that already list them a day or two ahead, but I forgot what they were. My memory's bad sometimes.

Race C at Fuji is a destruction derby with all the long sweeping corners where late apexes are ideal, you leave any gap and others will dive bomb to overtake at all costs. Why are people so impatient?

Or if you take the slower inside line, you will be later on the throttle which they don't account/care for so you end up getting rammed and taken out!

Just relax, focus on getting a better exit and complete your overtake on the straights. By causing collisions it only encourages even more dirty driving in retaliation.

Not gonna lie... Getting this lap together nearly made me pop a vein! After finding my best wheel settings, I am extremely happy with the consistency I found in my times but jesus... still over 2s slower than top times and I didn't even make it into the top 1k this week 😒😟

And for all the effort, PD trolls me for my persistence...

  • Race 1, 2:17:2 - Start in P12
  • Race 2, 2:17:0 - Start in P12
  • Race 3, 2:16:9 - Start in P12
  • Race 4, 2:16:9 - Start in P12
  • Race 5, 2:16:611 -You guessed it! Start in P12 😂

@TechnoIsLove

That is mad, I saw friend in my list briefly take take top spot until you threw this one in! That’s some speed man!

👊
Thank you, sir! It probably cost me a bit of my hairline and 2 additional points to my blood pressure but worth it 😂 Which means 99.99% certain that someone from my friends will overtake my time by tonight 😂⚰️

Nice to see @bone_tone as always buddy, after our race I managed to get into the 1.39 and top my friends leaderboard 🤘

One super close ending win and once I got into the 1.39 a pole which led to a win so hopefully let the rinsing commence 🤣

Sure there’ll be some A+ drivers who have something to say about that

Cool, I'd like to see a couple replays of your races if you're able to save them, if you don't have any footage now, that's fine. What matters is that you guys are having fun out there on the track. Be careful and not hit or brush up against the wall, sometimes those penalties are nasty. That's why I dread racing at Tokyo. I tend to be hasty and go fast and not be careful.

Hello buddy hope you and yours are all doing well, I’ll try get some replays saved and uploaded for you, as it goes I haven’t had one penalty on Tokyo, haven’t seen too many either, the key is not to hit the wall anyhoo but it’s fairly forgiving I have to say.

All the best mate, hope you’re back racing soon

This is one of this days I shouldnt sit at my rig.
3 Fuji races and killed in the 3 of them.
2 of them were honest mistakes and the third one was an intentional sweep by a dirty driver.
The problem with saturday mornings is the mixture of the lobbys. DRs of A+ A and B and SR of S A and B in the same room.

The smaller grids and no skin in the game are often what put me off doing A and some minor other factors.
That was the point of my post a bit. There is still some good racing to be had.

Yeah, that was a great combo. And to PD credit, the BOP didn't turn the event in a mono make race. No place for groceries in these cars

Good racing is good racing.

I race everything PD throws but usually I'll stick in one race for the week. Lately, PD offers on Race A is something that will not cycle again in the next of couple of week compared to GR.3-4 cars. The likes of Radical, Tuned cars, W194, Miatas and the F-3500 we had lately are unique and will not reappear soon.
Those are nice, clear and unique photos you took. Reminds me of old urban-street racing with good style.
Thanks dude, most of my photos have a story to it.

I would like to declare that I AM AN IDIOT

I have been struggling for pace all week. At Spa, I was oversteering everywhere. Now, I normally drive the Huracan with -2 brakes (I like the extra grip exiting corners). However, with the F3500 races last week, I didn't really get a feel for the update, and I just assumed that not much had changed.

Well, when I assume I make an ASS out of ME

on a hunch I ditched the brake balance change. Started 12th, finished 7th, AND set the fastest lap of the race.

So, I guess I need to invest some time in getting a better Q time...lesson learned. I have been my own worst enemy this week.
