I have just tried the M4 (I won the Manu cup in it last year at this race) and I just don't see how Gallo is getting the pace from it compared to the NSX. I need to watch his replay as there are a couple of times I can tell I'm in the wrong gear compared to him.

The Veyron was also strong round here so I might give that a go as well just to compare how it was to how it is.

I'd like to be more competitive in the Beemer as I've had a couple of M cars (and literally just bought an ix3 so defo a brand fan boy!) but at the moment it seems I'm a long way off extracting the same pace or better than the current ones I've tried.

Edit:

I went back to the NSX and improved a little but left a fair bit on the table in a conservative and slidey bustop and to early on the power so had to lift for the wall on the last turn.

Edit2:

I knew I left some time on the table and switched my Ghost to Winds as his style seems to be closer to mine and as is always the way I couldn't refuse a couple more laps.

Definitely punching above my weight and what my QT can deliver in race trim!

Edit 3: apologies I forgot to save the replay but I did save the capture, my out pacing lap and my flying lap and more sorry it's VR

Gran Turismo 7 1.53:7 Watkins Glen following Wind. 2 laps, pace lap and fast lap

That is a sick time mate 🔥

How do you guys deal with dirty drivers? Race C started in pole, the car behind gets a run up the hill in my slip stream, so I move to the left on the straight accepting that he will overtake me on the right. He gets alongside and just shoves me straight into the barrier. No way I was going to catch up after that, so he goes on to win the race.

Next race I'm in pole again and dirty driver in 5th. After a couple of laps he's about 0.5s behind me heading to the 1st corner. I'm thinking he's just going to take me out again, so I lost my cool and brake checked him. Ruins my race, but at least it stopped him cheating himself to another win. Following him for the remainder of the race I see him continuing to punt anyone and everyone. Called out by a few of the drivers in post race chat.

I understand that it's best to just steer clear of dirty drivers, but how do you deal with them when they are behind you and you know they are going to punt you?

It's my strongest track, we share the same name!

Honestly thank you, that's a massive massive compliment from someone as fast as you are typicall. How many trophies do I give you!

❤️
Haha, thank you but no, I am not qualified enough to be considered in the "someone as fast as you" category 😂 I know I am not slow, but not to the level you think I am, especially across all the different tracks and car categories. Maybe something (during races) I have a bit of is consistency and anticipation in terms of what is coming up and what needs to be done, which comes from my real-world past-time using a Swedish griffin 😉

Did improve a bit, especially after seeing your replay and learning on how to take the long right-hander better (after chicane end of S1) and the hard left at the end of S3! Also noticed I needed to increase my FFB strength from your POV, so thanks for the assist!

PS - Having just stated something, I know my session best times above are not really consistent, but was trying out different wheel settings 😂😋

My "gluey" NSX helped me to go easely down to an 1:53.9 at Glen, with the mid '53 really on sight. The last and only time I tried the track was with the Gr.1. Made maybe 4 laps and avoided this layout since then, due to some absurd amount of penalties. Now I'm enjoying basically every corner.
It's strange how "a bad track/car combo" can bias your opinion on a venue wich is actually nice.

Only so much you can do, really, but awareness is king. When you know someone is dirty, be prepared for any/all of it. Won't survive all of the incidents, but you will some of them. Keep calm, race-on and make them earn it. Besides, punts are a bit easier to catch when you know they're comin' and that REALLY irritates 'em.🤣

Another thing that helps is not spending the rest of the race trying to decimate the offender, no matter how tempting. And that's not to imply that's what you did, I'm merely sharing what I tell myself every time I'm on the grid. Usually works...mostly sorta.😁

I tried a few more cars for The Glen but had the best result in the NSX. I got my time down to a 1:55.1XX so that was a plus. I was in the top 4000 for times so I'm doing something right.

First race I'm P4. I get hit in the bus stop on the first lap, but it looks like they didn't compensate for the ridiculous slip stream so I'm not mad, that stuff happens. Thankfully I survive and keep on going. I have too many off track penalties and I had to take evasive action in the bus stop to avoid a wreck. So a P10 finish for me. Mostly clean racing from what I saw. I did get shoved in T1 and lost a few places from that.

Race 2 had me in P2 this time. I hit P1 entering T1 and gave the spot back. There was some nice racing only ruined by the fact that I love running wide on T1. I also had another evasive maneuver in the bus stop and that killed my momentum. I fight back up the field and finish P7.

My final race had me in P5 and I was up to P3 after the first few laps. I get punted in turn 8 aka the "Heel" and drop to P5. Another off track penalty sets me back to about P9 with P5 a few cars ahead. Somehow, 6 of us make it through the bus stop all on top of each other and we manage not to wipe each other out. Fantastic racing. Not so fantastic is entering turn 6, I get shoved aside by a driver making a lunge from so far behind me to a gap that didn't exist. So I fall to P12 and then I finish P13 thanks to the lovely turn 1 off track penalty. The driver who lunged me managed to hit the barrels on the pit entry and quit. Serves them right as they were barging anyone next to them.

Aside from me not being able to keep the car on the track, the racing has been fun so far. Some nice "pack" racing and others respecting space in the corners. Expect the 2 knuckleheads in my last race. Those people stink. I'm liking the combo and I hope I can have some better results tomorrow.

Loving Watkins so far despite the lack of strategy.

Racing has been close and clean. Done a few B/S lobbies where the first 10-11 cars have been separated by 10 seconds at the end.

Even with my poor qualifying time (56.2 in the Cayman), I’ve been able to get a few top 5s (starting from P9-13) just by being consistent.

I will certify that the Cayman is absolutely hopeless in race for daily C.

I started 8th and finish 12th. Not helped by me crashing out first lap, which put me last, then it was basically a time trial until others either crashed out or exited the race. I actually only passed one car in the entire race. Terrible.

I’m now on the verge of being downgraded to a DR B driver. But that might give me a chance to get better positions again lol.

Hey! You were in two of my lobbies tonight. I was the black NSX with the "splattered" blue paint decals down the side. I knew that name looked familiar, but I just put 2 and 2 together after seeing your post. Always good to see a member in the lobbies.

The racing at seaside wasn't too bad in B/S lobbies tonight. The top 5 or so are circulating around 39 flat which is decent pace. The odd dirty loseer but once through Larini on lap one things calm down.

I'm very close to a win but can't quite get there, often chasing down first place and feel I neeed another lap. My first sector is almost always purple at 33.1ish, but I lose time through the esses. If I slow my entry I lose time, if I try to carry more speed I ruin my line and have to lift mid esses.

Anyways, been better fun than expected but man the understeer is just brutal compared to 2 yrs ago.

Don't fight them, a fast race time 2nd/3rd/4th/5th is better than the barrier.

Keep brining home top 10s and you move away from their lobbies.

That said it sucks these people are about but remember you aren't losing but gaining points and this is just one race in an infinite championship.
He gets alongside and just shoves me straight into the barrier.
Don't race them, let him go earlier, show them you are aware they are there. It's funny how they tire of the hollow wins. They will go through the cause havoc phase because "no one wants to race them" and eventually they chill and start to understand that it's the race itself not the virtual cup that is actually the fun thing, the bit that keeps you alive etc.

But honestly, just anticipate it and concede the position early. It's exactly what I mostly do ;) but we are all racers and it's very very tempting to try and fight it. But as I've learned lobbies don't shuffle lots so you just drag the battle to the next race. Not good in ranked races.
I'm thinking he's just going to take me out again, so I lost my cool and brake checked him
Don't do that, run them wide, close the door a bit firm but don't brake when you should be going forwards.

You shouldn't be racing them, there are 14 other people to race.
I understand that it's best to just steer clear of dirty drivers, but how do you deal with them when they are behind you and you know they are going to punt you?
I put my big boy pants on, realise that that sometimes I can win and others it's just best to survive. I've been through the street justice phase and you get beyond that quickly because that stuff starts to carry the lobbies get closer and more and more of the same people. And honestly I'd rather be the guy that races well, people say hi to rather than on one of those YT videos where people are being crashed/doing the crash.

Finishing even though you believe you could have won is worth more than drama.

You don't deal with these/those people you just get out of their way. They will have a very hard bump with the artificial pace and DR they think they have earned.

Edit: tiny grammar edit

Well, that sucked. Quite honestly the worst lobby I’ve ever been in. I’m on the verge of going back into DRB and I’m up against this crowd.:scared:

That’s 10, yes 10 DR A+ !!

I come in 15th, 34 seconds behind. It was not fun.

I think I’m done with sport for this week. Honestly, I’m kind of losing interest in sport after two years, I preferred the TTs these days.

You’re right. Good to see you on track. That was some good racing!

I have a hunch that moving the A+ points limit has brought a lot of people back to the game who "think" they should have higher DR but in reality have artificially high DR for their ability/cinsistency/racecraft.

Use you EMEA account mate

I have a used that one for months and months. And speaking of which I’d get all the Russians this time of night. By the way, you’re up late for Brit or up very early.
:( yeah the Russians obviously have "network" issues and that is a lobby killer or at least lowers connection quality.

I don't know what else to suggest :(

I'm up very very early, I'm on stop smoking medicine and it plays havoc with deep/REM sleep.
