quite a challenge choosing between 3rd/4th gear,
IKR, the esses in sector 1 I guess, I'm leaning toward 3rd gear with careful input of throttle to avoid understeer straight off track
That was a serious time commitment
You lot need to go outside and touch grass
Yeah, we are in between two season. No more snow to shovel. It's cold, gray and dirty outside. My TV is 4k HDR of pure light filled with racing and adrenaline. I mean "couch adrenaline"

@NevilleNobody, just when we tought winter was over! I'm already on summer tires. Got new mags for my Outback and couldn't wait to put them.

1 and done for me at Monza. I tried my best to avoid hitting people, gave space, placed myself along side people well in advance of corners. All of it.

Went from FULL SR S to about 80% SR A...ONE RACE. Ya, nope. I mean, let's get real. Monza is a wreck fest for pro drivers. There's no hope for a bunch of schmoes

Maybe Le Mans will be better 🤣

What is the longest race C ever held? I feel like I did a gr3 Spa many months ago, 2-3 times ago at Spa. . It had weather and may have been 45 min? Maybe it was less.

I know we won’t get it, but race D for an hour/+ would be fun. World Series races are a blast! While it wastes time, open qualifying is the way to go on a proposed Race D. Active weather. Regular Dr/sr. Sure you may possibly race alone for a bit, but I don’t think it would muddy daily A/B/C pools too bad would it?

Tens of thousands compete each week across the board.

@Tazzy-91 and what's your shifting point ?
I rag it until it's just about to bang off the limiter 🤣🤣🤣 honestly though, the quickest way through the esses is to stay in 4th 👍 I only managed a 2:20.4 today as I didn't have much time but I definitely can break into the 19's easily. Throttle balance is key along with not hitting the limiter, that's a killer. It's great fun to be able to use left foot braking as well without the risk of it all going pear shaped. It reminds me of the race we had in Watkins Glen 5 or 6 weeks ago in the RCR civic, I did very well that week too.
Had a great week at Bathurst too so I just think FWD cars suits my driving style better

The disguised Subaru, they are good looking!

Nice drop!
No, no, I have the actual saab wagon . It's more part Malibu than Subaru. You're thinking the 9-2X.

Race B, very frustrating as I am on a 48.7 but optimal is 48.2. The former has me in the pack, the latter would have me right up front but i just cannot string the lap together.

Races have been a debacle, so many bad drivers.

Hi guys, starting from an 1:47.7 at Monza after the first "rusty" practice with a Gr.3; obviously the Supra. Target is the low'47 (high '46 maybe), cause my time is flawed by extra caution at 1st, 2nd variante and Ascari (i leave 5 to 7 tenths just there). The only minus is the weather. I know is spring since few days only and Milan is notoriously a "smoggy" town, but that clowdy sky and soft light looks like Monza is in UK, just few miles from Brands.

Edit: Here's the strange rolling start at TM already mentioned two weeks ago (sorry, I forgot to post it). It was a mixed A+/A/B lobbie, so retirement wasn't an option. have a good laugh.

I had a blast yesterday at Le Mans.
Spent 1 hour getting the feel of the car (was accustomed to the old C group here and not the modern cars) and set a semi-decent qualy (under 500).

Bump-draft affecting SR is still a thing but at least I could enjoy some very clean and respectful racing among the best drivers of the region.
Maybe be Monza is attracting all the douchebags this week?

I read some interesting post from flashdagger on twitter about this daylies wich let me thinking (dont know if he is between us on GTP?)

What do you guys think about it?

Edit: we can add to this "theory" that the last week was on the same "bloody" line with RBR and Brands Hatch, notorious tracks to encourage dirty drivers.
Is PD trying to "deflate" ratings with massive resets?

It probably wouldn't be the worst thing ever, as clearly a big problem in the online environment in GT7 is "dirty/uncouth" drivers easily sandbagging their SR ratings and then unleashing hell amongst perfectly well-intentioned players.

I've no problem whatsoever with having to work hard to earn my Safety rating.

@Gurzu that is easily one of the strangest starts I've seen. Was expecting the flying along at a 130 or so on autodrive, but that was some next level weird. Almost as if it lost track of who was attached to which car.

About the SR/GTWS stuff, I'm surprised that PD would go to those lengths for an exercise in social engineering. I guess I don't get what's in it for them. Inciting regulars to stomp themselves into lower categories through a daily race offering seems counterproductive/ineffective to me, is all.

Decisions incite change. Changes cost money. Spending money requires justification. What is the justification for spending this money to alter the SR algorithm?

I truly think the lack of transparency is of great disservice to PD.

EDIT
Or, is this just something they put into place to keep people from grinding DR? If so, it further explains why it is nonsensical to me.

It’s a brute force way to keep certain group of players ring fenced away from the heathens….

Historically we have seen some of these very difficult races just before seasons start, and to be fair it might be something as simple as balancing but also to ensure as much players as possible are in the relative GT1-3 groups and nothing nefarious.

It’s also fair that some combos are quite easy to stay out of trouble. Full speed rolling starts in to 25mph chicanes is always going to be a horror show 🤣

Yup, no Le Mans for me either.

These tracks work (somewhat) in real life, because there are race ending consequences for ineptitude. Without race ending punishment, these tracks simply don't work in this game.

I'll stick to racing the Autobianchi. I scored another win last night. So much more satisfying than being cannonballed at every corner in the other races.

Got some qualifying out of the way at Monza and Suzuka...something tells me imma be in Race A a LOT. Those things are a BLAST to drive.

Monza will be determined by how others want to behave, or not, I suppose. Love the place and was able to get the 911 into low 48's with opti's in the sevens. Hoping that can get me towards the front to escape some of the carnage. I'd rather get picked-off on a straight by a Supra than t-boned into oblivion @ <insert opportunity here>.

Good luck out there and hope to see y'all on the track!

A co-worker recently told me how useful it is to set daily goals. Today I decided to start so I set 3, which were:

  • Take the day off
  • Start playing Assassin's Creed Shadows
  • Find another goal
Happy to report I smashed the first 2 like it was nothing 😂 Then I thought to myself "What other goal should I set for today?" and after a while, it came to me! I called it: How to ruin @newmedia_dev 's Tuesday and proudly, I can announce that Goal #3 was also smashed today! 😂😎😮

There's definitely room for improvement however, as my 3 therapists always tell me, best to not overdo it and be happy with your accomplishments! So I am 😂

Man that is hustling, I cannot string my lap together so still stuck on a 48.4 but if I nail all sectors I am a 48 flat, no idea where a 47.5 comes from.
It'll come mate, 1 cool trick with the Supra is shift down into corner, coast and then shift up to accelerate out. Never touch the throttle on the lower gear as you will lose a lot of time! Only exception is the final right-hander onto the main straight, downshift to 3rd, coast, accelerate till half-way through the revs and then short-shift o 4th for best result! At least for me lol

I think it’s going to be a painful week, almost had a win in this little Race A tiddler but made a mistake a someone slightly bumped off at the corner and didn’t get a pen for it and Monza again was literally dirty AS hell,

Won’t say I’m done but I just think it’s going to be a frustrating week

Good evening everyone.

Daily A: Kyoto Driving Park (Mitsubishi Lancer III GSR)
Not bad.
I only wished that the main era rival was there as well, the Subaru Impreza.

Daily B: Brands Hatch GP (Gr4)
Not bad.

Daily C: Red Bull Ring (Gr3)
Not bad.

We continue to make pit stops for... Nothing. 🤡👎
We continue to have only one tire choice. Why?
The motivation is getting down for sure, at least for me. PD seems to care more for the casual players. Daily A, is a proof of that.
The absence of a variety of strategies in Dailies B and C, is another proof.
Don't forget who had put PD where it is today. The veterans. Since PS1 and GT1.

The people setting the races, don't ever test them? Even if this week the races were alright, it is not the usual feeling.
Now the usual ask, please make a harder penalizing for the quitters.
Let us have more sets of tires. Increase the tyre wear.
Thank you, PD.

Have fun.
Cheers

P.S.: This new week will have a Daily C huge joke.
Thumbs up for the only Gr1 Contemporaneous Prototypes. Thumbs down for the one make car race again.
Repeating myself  there are ways to balance this, without tweaking the BOP.

Sorry was washing my hair and on my bike…

Will look at this tomorrow, I’m thinking I can be bothered now to find the 4/10ths I was dropping

❤️

Edit: all seriousness

@NevilleNobody the time is made in 2 ways at Monza the first and the absolute most important.

1. You have to have smooth exits from the chicanes, possible with TC but it’s easier to abuse that so you get on it earlier and harder and the TC just hinders the progress.

1.a partial throttle to balance the car on lesmo 1 and 2 at the or just after the apexes, preferably in to them fractionally but that’s a QT technique not one I’d go to in race.

2. Coasting and gear selection, you’ll find a lot of people panic attack the chicanes or curve grande but the reality is a really relaxed entry and control is worth more than 10 yards later braking and loads of steering wheel sawing.

Most of the time is in the clean exits, you have to have those buttery smooth exits where you just watch the Rev counter rise smoothly, no slippage or TC limiting.

Thanks :).. Ye, ik it's going to be difficult.... I was somewhat fast GT player long time ago... but with a wheel.. I'll play GT7 casually with my old drifty DS4 so no big expectations for now :)
Hey you want fast go over to the time trial thread those peeps are fast fast! But also really chill and supportive so have a look at that thread. I bet within 3 weeks you’ll want to be included on the leaderboard!

As for this thread we are a mix, some are QT fast and don’t race, others full on racers and just do them. There is no judgement other than saying stupid things (I do that) so just race and post your times and experience and observations.

We span all the DR and SR ranges here, so it’s all cool. We all help each other apart from @TechnoIsLove we don’t help him, some say he moved to Malta to dodge taxes, I think he just went for the weather.

Bad nyt, cause my brake's pedal has started giving me issues like,, when I'm full throttle, it stays 1.6% activated (0% if throttle is released). After some struggle it ended for now (restarted everything and recalibrated). It was then time for penalties at Monza. I mean, since I started pushing on esses, a periodic penalties either at 1st, 2nd or Ascari was there for me to take. I eventually matched my best QT so far... Serving 0.5 sec of penalty, obviously. I don't see myself racing if I'll continue collecting penalties here and there like a magnet. If that goes on tomorrow, I'll switch to Suzuka and rather enjoy the Abarth.

@mellofello9 I was initially shocked to look at myself going straight against the rocks. Really caught by surprise to the point that it took me quite some time to change the camera view. In the first moment I thought I had to drive with the "movie camera" and I was scratching my head to figure out how possibly could I ever drive with the camera changing randomly. It was short, maybe just 2-3 sec, but huge real panic while in reverse. Also I didn't know wich button of the wheel was mapped to change camera at the time, so I changed by luck, pushing randomly all buttons till the view finally changed. 🤣
