We just learned that mister Taku Imasaki is ignoring and avoiding to answer to emails regarding those features promised at the launch. Here is the same Taku Imasaki promising before GT6 launch how the game will get a new track every month... Never happened. Funny thing, the best approach in this situations, when you cannot keep up with the schedule, is to do what Taku is doing, not to try to be defensive. Cut and run will be lethal for PD because Sony keeps pushing.

If I am confused about PD motivations? I only make these comments because this is bad business. As a consumer you don't need evidence, you decide not to but any PD product anymore if you feel disappointed by them as a company. As simple as that. I don't know if, from the business point of view, makes more sense to get GPS Visualizer before Course Maker or BSpec. How many times did you have the chance to use GPS Visualizer? I do not need an answer because I know you never used it... so, that is my point.

In the business world is unacceptable to promise something and deliver something else (like they've done so far) or nothing at all.

I am thankful for the highs and goods but I will always comment on the lows or bads.

Sorry for the long and now, out of topic comments.
You do realise Taku is not an PD employee?
Taku works for Sony and he is usually labeled with PD because most of his work is with PD but he's not offically an PD employee, he lives in California and Polyphony Digital's HQ is located in Tokyo.

Does that mean he's not qualified to talk about the GT franchise?

He is, but everything he says may not be true regarding Gran Turismo because he's not working with PD in Tokyo so obviously his information knowledge is quite limited.

However he is quite informed about most Sony published games, especially Gran Turismo, regardless, he may not always speak the truth as the information he is giving may be outdated since he is not up to date with PD news daily.

Sounds like a finely tuned machine there at Sony:lol:

Guys ask yourself can GT6 withstand two more years even with Course Creator and B-Spec.
How many people will play GT6 another two years?
if they add some cars with DLC's i think i'll stay another year easy ( i'm not talking about VGT's )
some real cars like they did with GT5

I don't understand the questions.

Why does GT6 have to "withstand" anything? Are you talking about extra sales? Or DLC purchases (which we've seen zero of so far)? What does it matter how many people still play the game long after they purchased it?

It's only in the case of DLC that numbers of players really matters, but DLC surely must not be banked upon for income up-front, rather only added in if it looks like it'll work out at the time. It'd be a recipe for disaster to just rely on it in the planning stages, unless you're going F2P / service-oriented, which must be very difficult for a GT game.

Clearly, DLC in GT6 is not a priority for Sony, because there is none. That implies Sony doesn't need DLC for income (or doesn't think it would be profitable, somehow), which implies Sony doesn't need existing player numbers to continue to be high for income, either. Maybe it'll carry some marketing weight, who knows.

If DLC were to arrive, then there will probably be a short-term injection of profit, depending on how much it costs to market and distribute and how much they actually shift. So, unless PD / Sony string out the DLC over the next two years, long-term player-count still isn't an issue.

Adding DLC, and a "big update", might entice erstwhile players and new players alike to the game, again, mostly on a short-term basis. The best way to do this, in terms of cost, is to use content and features intended for re-use, perhaps content and features that might get a new lease on life on a new console thanks to increased detail, depth, variety etc...

But the bigger long-term consideration, to my mind, has to be topping up that long tail of new sales. That'll be most effective if there are things in updates that we didn't expect.

E3 takes place in June. GT6 announcement was made in May :P
Spa is in May, Laguna Seca is in May, Fuji is in May, several smaller game shows; then E3 and Le Mans in June... Amar said May might have a demo. There's a lot happening in May and June in the game and racing world. I'm sure PD recognizes that and has something prepared for those busy months in either GT6 or GT7 ^^

Back to the main topic - at most, I expect a trailer of GT7 Prologue, with a claimed release date of Christmas season 2015. After all, we're working on the "odd" release schedule. Most likely, we'll see nothing, and we'll hate like it. :P
There's no prologue

I remember this from the GT6 livestream. I asked if we could have carbon fiber hood on every car in GT6. He said yes. That wasn't true

Clearly, everyone misjudged everything about GT6, from SONY to fans and pundits.
  • GT6 sales will be abysmal on a newly launched console with a small market footprint. Release it on the well established system and sales will be great.
  • The fans will support a new GT game no matter what system it's on. Release a turd in a case and millions will buy it, regardless.
  • PS4 sales will initially be slow, and won't overshadow a still viable predecessor, so it will have no effect on GT6 sales on PS3.
  • The PS3 still has room to grow. Every second Gran Turismo game has always been much better than its predecessor.
And there are probably more, but I'm home sick and my brain can only trudge so far. :P

I have always wished that GT6 had been a PS4 game. I bought into the hype that the PS3 was good enough, even in the face of dazzling graphics on both next gen systems. That the fanbase would flock to a new GT game like always. And that, I did do. Had grown SO tired of my 10 or 15 GT5 gripes that I ran like mad to get my copy of GT6 and haven't looked back. Those who say the physics have gone nowhere... seriously??

But it didn't take long to begin to see the warts, as shadows on Brands Hatch and graphic hiccies at Bathurst poked us in the eye, and 10am at Ascari looked like it was half an hour before dawn. PD got a little carried away with HDR there. And as much as I appreciate that incredible Sierra course, the glitches and barren landscapes due to the polygon and texture budget PD had to work with are telling that this is a game left in the dust by the new generation.

SONY was wrong. GT7, as soon as possible. A Prologue? I don't know if we'll get one this time, but I'm all for it.

Now about E3, I expect a pretty hefty trailer at the least. GT6 is looking really old even compared to an arcadey racer like #DriveClub, and there is some pretty serious competition from P CARS and Forza 6. SONY has to remind millions of PS4 buyers and millions waiting for Gran Turismo how they have something worth waiting for.

sooooo... GT6 event announcement was made on May 8th 2013 and the event itself took place on May 15th 2013... That said, if GT7 is really set to release in Holiday Season 2015 as Mr. @Shirrako said, that means the announcement has to be made in aproximately the same time as it was made for GT6 - just before E3. If no announcement is made til E3, we can say good-bye to GT7 this year for 100%.

(keep in mind that KAZ said, GT7 will be released max 2 years after GT6 due to easy development on the PS4)

To me it's already like 100% not coming out this year....remember GT6 is actually just an improvement of GT5 (or some said worsened), so they released GT6 after half year of the announcement was piece of cake...now GT7...to my understanding and expectation, it will be totally a remake....so I would be glad if they don't push it too early....I can wait...but I mean...can I see something in E3 in advanced?

I have a great idea:

RELEASE IT WHEN IT'S COMPLETE.

Though it may be complete at the end of this year, who knows.
Ok but No seriously, DLC should just be extra content, not actually major parts of the game.

The possibility of an E3 announcement depends if the game is ready to be shown, GT6 was a little rushed due to the PS4 while GT5 was announced too early which caused fans to be upset with the delays.

An announcement at this year's E3 and a release date for March 2016 would be the perfect marketing plan from Polyphony, but this is my opinion, the final decision has to be made by PD.

I get the feeling they were already developing gt7 before gt6 came out
