GT7 & PSVR2

I've tried everything, moving around, changing lighting, having the TV on with the tracking enhancing. There's already plenty around for the headset to track and it picks it up fine when doing the calibration.
The first one I had didn't do this once so pretty sure it's the headset.
Have you tried to recalibrate the tracking? The one with the orange thingie. If that doesn’t help, the camera lenses are clean and you’ve already tried everything else it must be the headset.

Here I basically do nothing and the only times the tracking drifts is when the light conditions drastically change while I’m in Neverland. Other than that it’s spot on 100% of the time.

Hey guys how is your track time
Psvr2 vs tv?
I play gt7 with psvr2 every day at least for an hour since release and im way slower than my tv time..
Sorry for my bad English. 😢
Since i got PSVR2 I played almost everyday. Before that I had not played for several months.

Some days I only play to get the daily marathon, others I play for like 2 hours. Its simply so fun. I am still amazed how much fun and enjoyment it gives, now after the initial excitement wore off.

I was never a fast guy. I play mostly solo, just trying to gold everything. There are some parts where I am struggling hard to gold. For the moment License S5 is giving me a hard time  . BTW rally is very very fun with PSVR2 :)

But overall I have way more control of the car now, and also feel much faster :-)

I still don't play quite that much but when I do, I can barely tear myself away. It's like I fall into a trance because it's so fun.

I just don't get how these content creators have given up on it so soon.

Using complicated wheels in VR - whilst waiting for my new PS5 and PSVR2 to be delivered tomorrow, I am now wondering if the Fanatec GT DD Pro 8Nm bundle (which I was about to buy because it has so many GT7 programable buttons) is going to be useable if I can't see the wheel during VR racing.

I'm now considering going for the DD Pro wheelbase with a simpler GT/formula wheel where the buttons are closer to hand when they can't be seen e.g. the Fanatec McLaren GT3 V2 wheel. Is this an issue with VR racing or am I over-thinking this?

Also, does anyone have any experience of using the Fanatec McLaren GT3 V2 wheel for VR racing?
I know where all buttons are without seeing the wheel. It becomes surprisingly intuitive. I prefer having certain controls to hand. For example, I am always switching fuel mix multiple times during a single lap throughout a race, as well as checking proximity radar, brake balance and weather..all in VR. Get the wheel with the most controls would be my advice.

Is it consensus, that you don't need Radar in VR?
My personal experience says otherwise. Even if the car permits a look over the shoulder, the limited FOV hinders me to check if an opponent in my dead-spot has overlap to me or not.
Audio has also been a disappointment for locating opponents.

To the question if PSVR is worth buying for GT7. In my opinion definitely. I have no desire to play GT7 in Flat ever again.
(playing with a GT DD Pro 8nm Wheel)
Some cars have such poor visibility that radar remains my friend

HI. Those better times you mentioned were in interior view? Or invisible bumper view?
It's not fair to compare both, in my opinion....
Any time made in invisible bumper view was ok until now. Now you could argue that it's almost cheating

We're all different but I was never that fast in bumper cam. Always used the hood/roof cam because I could see further. But now I'm much faster and more consistent in VR.

I finally drove a car in centaur mode (or would it be a Cent-car?) and it’s certainly strange having no gauges or mirrors and seeing from the roof. Not sure how motivated I am to buy more cars without interiors but I’ll probably get them eventually anyway.

When the road is wet looking back in the rear view camera you should be seeing spray, but there's none.

I have a similar complaint about not seeing a rear wing when fitted; the view is always unobstructed and picture perfect.

I'm guessing it comes down to managing resources. The forward down-road (blurry) view can't take a further hit by adding road spray and wings to the rear view.

I noticed this too when I search for PSVR2 and GT7 on youtube

Probably just because I'd imagine it's really hard to run a stream while in VR, like I think your only point of native interactions would be a discord channel? You won't be able to read live YT/Twitch comments and respond to those easily, probably? I'm not a steamer so can't confirm but would suspect this is the reason, purely logistics.

Weird, for me anyway, jumped in the 787B do the WTC700 at la Sarthe. I wear classes to see up close, but I have to say, everything looked damn near crystal clear, in this particular car. Other than the obvious out of focus, in my peripheral, I didn’t notice any screen door effect.
Maybe I’m finally seeing this improvement members are posting. I know if never seen the view in side the car, this high definition.

Oddly enough the mirror in the XJ13 is completely useless and only shows the avatar’s head and the sky. It’s strange that it’s not just the only obstructed mirror, you can’t see anything useful.

There are guys who don't stream, though. For instance, the most popular Gran Turismo content creator made two videos racing against AI and that's it. Personally, I prefer the driver's eye view so I wish more did it.

I am definitely much quicker and more stable with VR! I also can correct mistakes easier and sometimes before they occur!
Qualifying pace is still off. But overall finishing times are down.

I’m good with that
Quicker! I don't even try, it comes naturally.
Slower at the moment, but more consistent. And I'm becoming faster already. I think I see the potential to become faster than I was before.

First of all thanks for the feedback!
Psvr2 is just fantastic and i feel more natural to correct mistakes.
Astro has a point here!
My faster laps was always with the bumper view but sometimes i use to race with no hud and the interior view...
Maybe this is the problem i need more training with the psvr2 interior view..
Guys with what view you was faster before psvr2?

For those interested in a non-edited VR footage here’s my 1 hour long custom race at Spa, which was supposed to be a multi-class race (LMP1 + GT3 + GT4), but GT AI being GT AI, they drive like complete morons. Hopefully we get full access to Sophy soon.

I’m sorry for excesive head movements as I’m constantly checking rear view mirrors (I guess a habit from real driving). Also, the start of the race is missing due to recording limitation of PS5 (60 minutes).

Anyway, here’s the video:

Here's a good example..
I drive "bumper" view but also interior view on flat screen.

Fisherman's Ranch Circuit Experience - Full Circuit
I tired for a quite few different days since GT7 launch to beat this time trial on flat screen with same wheel and pedals setup.
I could consistently get close to beating the time but always touched a wall or made one mistake that slowed me down. Never using any aids but ABS.

Then when I tired it in VR (still very, very new to VR) I did a few warm-up laps and then pressed record and this was my first attempt and I beat my best time by 2.3 seconds and it felt easy. I could probably shave off another 2 seconds with some more practice. I'm definitely faster in VR overall but I think on some corners of some tracks (dirt or tarmac) I'm slower for some reason. Hard to say exactly why.

Bumper

It ended up with me buying a steering wheel. Now, I'm fully experiencing the benefits of VR. It's wonderful.😍

Been over a week since I touched it but did the time trial in the Radical and oh man back in love. The car is so fun to push around in. Still geot woozy after awhile but not as bad. Just wish I had more time with it.

VR has created severe sleeping issues for me. I can't play it and go to sleep succesfully even after 2 hours break. I will try to space at least 4-5 hours between and see if it's still affecting me. I know I am super sensitive to it, but others could also have the issue and not knowing it!

I had the same issue at the beginning. Now I try to play for a maximum of 4 hours before bedtime and it's working well. There is a lot of blue light that goes directly into the eyeballs. Sometimes I have the opportunity to play in the morning, then I have absolutely no problems.

Resident Evil Village is currently on sale on PSN. 😈

I may be the minority but I feel it actually is the opposite for me. Especially at the beginning I was always super exhausted after a long session and fell asleep instantly. I don't get exhausted anymore but I still sleep well. Makes my eyes dry too.

I was very very slow in getting my VR legs so this could be the factor. It totally depends on each person.

@getting dry eyes: Some people tend to wink less frequent under vr, had the same issue with psvr1. Now with psvr2 i'm forcing myself do wink for example with each gearshift. Works fine for me so far.
Thats nothing wrong with that..., is probably due to immersion and your brain focus more easely so you blink less to have more awareness i guess...

Theres a video of Max Verstappen doing a lap/laps on a SIM and he barely blinks..., like once a lap or not even that...

Saw reports that Psvr2 got an update and now its less blurry, is this true?
Must test when i have time.
