With the snowy season coming to an end within not too long (probably in about 10 hours), I decided I would spend this probably-final evening with it for the foreseeable future (and maybe forever) to answer one of life's great questions:

Is "God's Rally Stage" better in the snow?

There's.. quite a few images in this, so in the interest of not lagging up loading the page more than necessary, not wasting any more time for those not interested than necessary and not getting into a longer discussion over whether or not this should actually go in the Snapmatics thread because of the amount of images and presumably low number of people wanting to engage in this discussion, I'm going to not be a complete 🤬 and continue this in the spoilers below. See, we can all have our cake.

Side note: see if you can spot the trend.

Seeing as I drove the Retinue down here when it was first released, I figured it'd make a good starting point.

The hikers were being a pain. As usual. Then again, it adds to the rally experience, so..

It got significantly foggier as we neared the end of the first section.

It's still such a fantastic little car.

The environment wasn't bad either.

The weather cleared again as The Little Vapid That Can neared the end of the stage.

A personal favorite from the Doomsday update has to be the Comet Safari. Because it's a Comet. And it's a rally version of a Comet. So obviously, that went next, in the middle of the afternoon.

Once again, the nature of this region of San Andreas was showing off.

The sun started to set as the Comet entered the second section.

It's called the Comet Safari for a reason.

Then I went and did a Colin McRae again.

Another really good, fun rally car, this.

Then, night fell, making most photo ops impossible. The stage was delayed.

But then, at 2:30 AM..

Oh, come on. It's the best rally stage in GTA, it's just before night turns to day again - going with anything but the Group B car would be plain wrong. Just a little disappointed it doesn't sound like a 5-cylinder with the biggest turbo known to man..

..wait, I thought this was pretend-California? Not pretend-Rally Sweden?

I'd forgotten how much the Omnis (and Tropos) would rather be a spaceship than a car.

The sun was just starting to break the darkness of night as the Omnis climbed the final hill.

..and finally, of course, it wouldn't be a rally event without something based on a Group A car.

The Sultan was right on the edge at all times.

Then, after making a mess of the transition at the bottom of the first hill..

Y'know, as a location, God's Rally Stage is pretty tough to beat. But I wasn't expecting this..

It's the first day of the year, and I'm already low on Yes'.

..I need to lie down. Quite badly.

*has trouser issues*

No. This isn't God's Rally Stage.

It's.. whatever is above godly. It's absolutely brilliant. Seriously. If you're still on before the snow melts away, do yourself a favor (or not), take a rally car (preferably) and drive this section of road, best done by starting somewhere around 5:00 AM. It's.. damn, now I want to do an actual rally event with the three people on here that made it this far through the post. This is why we need snow for a full three weeks, at least.

All those pictures, and not one of the route you're taking. I can tell you're in Raton Canyon, but that's like saying there's dirt path in the middle of nowhere that we're going to use.

That's.. actually a good point that I don't know why I didn't think of.

So here's a rather crude overlaying of it:

Yes, in case you hadn't guessed, the opening section is basically The Most Dangerous Road, but run in the "opposite" direction. Now that I think of it, I haven't tried GRS in the opposite direction..

That's the plan. Whenever I can be bothered.

Both as a standard, classic race, as a race with some Stunt props (i.e. some advertising signs, start/finish gates etc.) all the way to a full-on rally experience with holding areas at start and finish + transform checkpoints to allow the non-Sports class rally cars to race alongside them.

Yes. Really.

Plus I liked the element of randomness by being in a freemode session for those shots.

Good News! Global warming has yet to melt the snow in San Andreas (so there's plenty of time for a drive down God's Rally Stage) and there is a new car - and it totally isn't an RX-3. Which, if you're enough of a pleb, you can put machine guns on.

Seriously? Seriously.

Also double trouble on Slashers, 25% off Cyclone/Visione, 30% off Hunter (get it), Nokota (get it), Ardent (missed potential but looks good) and APC, 50% off MOC cabs.

25% off the Nokota now is a good reason to get in enough cargo to unlock the trade price. I‘m still mad at myself for being to stingy getting the plane mod shop when it was on sale.

The RX3 looks awesome, but way overpriced.

Seen in the description for the current Time Trial:

"Just hope catastrophic heart failure doesn't hit you 'til next year"

Well, uhm.. about that..

The Savestra is great but it has that same steering angle BS as the Hermes and the lowriders. At least they made the front wheels the same width with this one.

How long do the sales usually last? I’ll probably grind for the Hunter.

I think that’s only for your first purchase though. I’m way beyond that. :)

Yeah it is a single use code, 1st purchase after you 'stalk'. Only reason I mention it is because it got a lot of attention on GTAF from people who forgot about it.

  • 50% off Mobile Operations Center Cabs
  • 30% off the Coil Cyclone (Super)
  • 30% off the Grotti Visione (Super)
  • 25% off the Ocelot Ardent (Weaponized Vehicle)
  • 25% off the FH-1 Hunter (Helicopter - both Buy It Now & Trade Price)
  • 25% off the P-45 Nokota (Plane - both Buy It Now & Trade Price)
  • 25% off the HVY APC (Weaponized Vehicle - both Buy It Now & Trade Price)

"Stalk" warstock on lifeinvader for an additional 10% off. Most people forgot about that when the game came out.

Stalk? Is that like on lifeinvader?

Has anyone got a clean Rebel WITH the spotlights they could help me spawn one online?

From what I've read they don't spawn anymore, only rusty rebels with spotlights spawn in for some reason. It's nothing important, just thought I'd ask.

I’ll just post this here...(not mine btw)

Just got the Nokota after I finally unlocked the tradeprice. I also stalked Warstock on Lifeinvader so I got it for 1.3ish million. And boy is it fun to fly

I got to take out the ol Cuban 300... It was a flight...
Actually, it was pretty fun since I used it to do the SR mission where you take out the stunt plane to entertain some dudes kid for her birthday. way easier to control than the stunt plane. Starting fresh has been a bit of a painful experience since I dont even have the levels yet to properly protect myself. But this morning I was playing, collecting some antiques and counterfeits. I was in the Tula, heading out the blow up some ships and get the package out of the water. Well this turd in a private jet was tooling around the airport when I left. He thought it would be cool to try and ram his luxor through my Tulas back end. both times i maneuvered out of his way and managed to put some lead into his plane for the effort.
First time he dropped low and tried to pull up into me, I anticipated and managed to pull up first and the speed difference carried him away just under my tail. I shot him up as he flew away, but they had the speed on me. The second time he ran in on me I dropped into the aquaduct and ran under the Vespucci and San Andreas Ave bridges, sticking high. As I had hoped he missed the first bridge, this caused him to drop lower when clearing the second. Again I was able to pull up and use the speed difference to force him out under me. As he was pulling away after that failed attempt, I was able to knock out his engines. He dumped all of his energy pulling barrel rolls to try and avoid my shots. As I turned off and headed to my destination he began to pull up for altitude and turn to pursuit me, however he didnt have the energy to complete the move and got caught in some power poles over Popular and the Del Perro freeway.
I've found that there are a lot more players on the PS4 than on the PC. Finding low population sessions definitely takes longer, and I wish there was a way to just automatically mute all mics. Cant stand listening to some kid talk mouth breathing into the mic they cant figure out how to turn off. But, I've never had to leave a room because of obnoxious griefers or hackers, which was about2-3 times an hour on the PC. The game loads faster as well. So, I guess there are trade offs. All around better experience though. Cant wait for RDR 2!

I don't know how anyone can start out completely fresh in this game by themselves. Granted, I only jumped back in a month or so ago after a year away, but I was already around Lvl 20. with a high end apt., $500,000 (& the other perks of being a returning player), plus a familiarity with GTA's mechanics. The only thing that really helped me was having a crew that did missions/heists with me. Once that funded me an office & vehicle warehouse, all I needed was the solo lobby trick, and I ranked up to currently 90 in no-time. Small peas compared to those who've been there Day One, but basically, this game looks like it's going to be a challenge for new guys with no understanding with the current amount of devious military weapons they keep releasing. Worse yet, if you're not getting pestered/trolled starting off, you're getting booted from missions b/c people don't trust you.

Reading you mention the PC, that's another level of hell. I've already read 3 Reddit posts from new guys who were ready to quit b/c modders put them in cages or completely bricked their games til' they restarted.

To 'mute' all others, go into your interaction menu and set the chat to Noone. Or you can limit it to friends, or friends and crew, etc. It does glitch occasionally, where even limited you can hear the whole room. Leave the session and it resolves itself.
