Very smooth. Nice lap. Just try to remember what I touched on in the pre race drivers briefing about keeping at least 2 wheels on the tarmac đź‘Ť

If you're that smooth with the controller, you should look at getting a wheel

Yeah, i tried but i wanted to beat 1:25... i'll try to not break the rules again ;)

Well guys, unfortunately Hawkeye and I have just uncovered some information about F1 2012 that gives DS3 users a huge advantage. I will post more later as I'm still at work. But it's a potential league breaker.... :grumpy:

Nothing personal taddy, but it explains why you were able to put down such an insane lap on the harder tire.

It should be next weekend. Everyone pretty much agreed that every other weekend would work better for most people.

What I was talking about earlier, it seems it's a pretty known issue that using the DS3 is WAY faster than using a wheel in F1 2012. And it actually kinda pisses me off. This just gave a great and immensely fun game a black eye.

Just take our league race, taddy93 was able to put down a lap 2 tenths faster than I on the harder tire. This is a pretty big concern with fairness and competition trying to hold a league.

Right now, unless Codemasters fixes this blasphemy, I'm going to have to make the league wheel only. Nothing personal taddy, but I can't allow controllers to compete at this point. It's basically cheating, and it doesn't give anyone else a fighting chance. If you have a wheel, you are still welcome to compete but you must use it.

Here's the links with the info

You have to be joking me! The wheel is still a huge adventage, you have to be used to!!
Come on guys, do you really think that a joystick is faster than a wheel?
I saw people doing 1:22:5 in Melbourne with the wheel, it's impossibile to do that with the joystick.
No offense guys, but it's unfair for me to be threated as a hacker or something.
Do you know who says the joystick is faster than a wheel? The people who is not good at F1, so they have to bitc* (sorry) about everything and this time is the joystick.
No problem to leave this league, but leaving for this is kinda bad.

PS: so, if i do 2 tenths of a second better than you, i'm cheating? Come on guys, that's unreal.

Last thing than i'll leave.
Please, take a look at those times in India. Those guys are the best in Italy, THEY ALL USE WHEELS.

You just didn't do 2 tenths faster, you did 2 tenths faster on the harder tires, I was on the softer tire. And it's been proven that the controller is faster. Again, not to brag, but I'm no rookie at racing sims. I've barely missed GT academy the last 2 years, I made the Red Bull Driver Search when I was 17, and worked for Skip Barber Racing Schools.

I could see 2 tenths faster on the same tires, but the car is obviously faster and more stable on the controller. I had no chance of keeping up with you in the race, either.

What you're suggesting then, is that I hold a league where no one has a chance of winning because you're obviously extremely fast and well versed on the input device with the advantage.

Youch. I'm sure there could be something we can work out, but, you're the organizer, so it's your call. Hope everyone has a good series. More incentive for me to get a wheel.

I feel that's a lot unfair towards Taddy, fair enough it was on harder tires, but I can't see that happening every round, This pysic's engine is flawed, and doesn't feel anything like a formula car, He may not be in a position to purchase a wheel,

And those forums also don't speak the truth, They are just opinion's of nut heads, Yes there are some pro's to using a DS3 in this game, BUT, all throughout codmaster's history of "quality" driving sim's the wheel physic's have been terrible and extremely flawed,

The biggest issue is because this is a yearly created game they hardly ever release patches for it this late,

And here is something else I heard, for F12010 and F12011, If you had the thrustmaster pad and had an idea on speeds then you would own up, yet there was no mention of that on the opening page of either of those threads,

As for the lap times, I have seen video's on youtube of people using wheels and doing 1.08s at Monaco, Something not done with the controller,

I'm either useless at this game in particular or useless with both the wheel and DS3 because my best was a 1.28.8 in Australia, I think my qualifying lap was like a 1.30.7 or something, and that was with a controller as my wheel was malfunctioning,

And there will come times where I won't be able to use a wheel in this series,

Sorry mate, But that statement you made really brought this thread into disrepute,

I hear what you're saying, but unfortunately the thread isn't wrong. Hawkeye and myself tested it last night. I never played the game with a DS3, as I own a G27. I don't remember the exact times, I can do it again if you guys want times, but I was almost 2 seconds faster on the controller around Hockenheim than with the wheel. I don't ever use the DS3, there's no way I should have been quicker with the DS3.

Sorry to say, but it's been tested and proven. I don't like it either, it actaully pisses me off that Codemasters would do that because I was really looking forward to this league :grumpy:

Its probably the reason why to my belief this is the first league I know of actually running one round using this title,

We could always convert to GT5 F1, But that ain't as fun,

GT5 F1 is terrible, IMO. Cars feel like they have way too much grip. You can put comfort hards on them and they barely lose any performance. So frustrating. Codemasters should just release a patch, like now. Lol

I haven't done an F1 league since hosting my own when F1 Championship Edition first released. We raced the entire schedule, once a week for 18 weeks. I awarded the winner a Mario Andretti signed die-cast of his championship winning Lotus. I've owned all iterations of Codemasters F1 series (actually every F1 game ever made for any PS system) including 2012. I have a Thrustmaster T500 with the Ferrari F1 wheel, and a VRC seat mounted to a Playseat chassis. I know the season has started already but it appears as though you may still be looking for "a few good men" :)

I don't have a team mate and since all the cars are "equal" just assign me to someone's team that needs a team mate if that's alright with you. I live on the east coast so the race time couldn't be more convenient.

As far as preferences go, I'm all for having the AI on the grid with as large a grid as possible. If they get in the way, than that's just more realism as far as I'm concerned. And since I'll be at Barber this weekend making a couple YouTube videos from the Indy car race and the Barber museum, I'm glad there isn't an event scheduled for this weekend ... please correct me if I'm wrong. And since I'm old enough to be Michael Schumacher's dad, don't expect me to be at the "pointy end of the grid" :)

My ID is ANFD and I'll send a FR to GTP_LVracerGT if it's ok with you.

If you guys raced on the 31st, and you run every other week, it seems to me the next race would be on the 14th ? As I said previously, I can't make it this weekend ... higher priorities (3 day tickets with paddock passes for all days) :sly:

Make sure you get on the grid. They let you literally touch the cars and everything!

I've been on the grid many times :) I've got some cool photos of Kanaan making out with his girlfriend (before they were married) before the race start :sly: My "Indy Car Series" game for PS2 is signed by 9 of the drivers in the game :sly:

Well, ya got me beat! Tony Kanaan just said nice hat to me when I walked by ( was wearing his hat )

I don't want to toot my horn too loudly, but I've been in the enviable position somewhat of having a little insider access :sly:

I just noticed that the header indicates Round 2 - 4/7 :nervous:

I'm hoping that is not current info but if so, I'll have to miss this round :indiff:

Have fun at the IndyCar race! I'm a huge IndyCar fan. I'll be at the race in Iowa this June đź‘Ť

This will be my first trip to Barber Motorsports Park and I'm really excited about it. I plan on shooting lots of video for YouTube and ultimately create a killer slideshow from the 1200 motorcycles on display in the museum :) Looks like we'll have perfect weather even though it rained there today.

Definitely go stand by the esses in the 3rd sector. The speed and change of direction in person is awesome

I remember you from the Dream Car Championship I put together, looking forward to seeing you on the grid đź‘Ť

BTW I could team you up with BlacqueJack if you want, he's needing a teammate at Williams and I'm pretty sure he'll be at every race.

I am not concerned what people use as long as they drive clean.

For me the fun is in the race; not whether I finish on the podium.

How easy is it to use pad if transmission is set at manual only? Perhaps that is a solution?

If not, I vote to allow any controller; otherwise we will have a grid of 3 đź‘Ž:crazy:

As long as the cars are set to equal, I wouldn't mind driving the Williams.

However, my wife and I take a long camping trip every year, usually 6 to 8 weeks. This year we are heading up to the Mount Rushmore area and the upper peninsula of Michigan but we will only be gone 4 weeks this time. I will probably miss the races scheduled between May 15 and June 15 so maybe Blacque Jacques deserves a more dedicated team mate :)

Blacque Jacques also makes a good point relative to using the DS3. Mandating "Manual Transmission" would probably make a small difference in equalizing the DS3 with the wheel. Who knows ... maybe it is the Auto trans that gives the controller the edge (I know it doesn't with a wheel, but it could be a factor possibly). I also know it can be a bit trickier coordinating those additional 2 fingers.

I also agree with Blacque Jacques about not having to podium in order to have fun. But having someone run away at the front every race isn't good for moral, nor enticing more people to stay with the series either (haven't we learned anything from the Schumacher era and Vettel) :dopey:

As for Barber, everyone I've talked to has recommended the turn 12 and 13 area as a prime location (also a good area for shade if you need it). Another friend also said that it's very easy to walk the entire track and take in every section and that's going to be my plan. We'll walk the track and shoot video during the support races and then focus on the third sector for the Indy Car race :)

To LVracerGT .... after reading your comment in the News Section describing PD's intention to ban hacker accounts, I'm afraid I am removing myself from your series. In my opinion hybriding and hacking is destroying the game and in the big picture, can only hurt the francise. Those who defend the practice (again, in my opinion) are only looking at it from a selfish perspective using classic "rationalization" and "denial" to support their actions. I'm all for PD including a livery editor and customization but when people modify code in order to gain any advantage (and they do) it only lessens the value of the game and turns people away. I know you think the opposite, but that's what "denial" is all about :dopey:
