Yeah not a big fan of the V4 (I wanted a flat 6) but that's what we voted for. I'm trying to draw another design similar to my first but it will be just as horrible

if we're doing non-v4s my vote is on a quad rotor 700cc x4 with laser ignition and magnesium case and a stupid big turbo. the 26b mazda used in the 787 made > 800HP at over 10000 rpm, they just limited it for safety reasons. I could totally see us pushing one to 1000 HP and with Hybrid systems, active suspension, fine tuned ground effects and exotic materials we could have a car that would make the 2x feel inadequate. What I really think needs to happen though is there to be 2 branches of this design project. A street legal city car which isn't about being insane, but about being a visceral driving experience (like the Alfa Romeo 4c) and a no-limits race vehicle that makes formula look tame.

A sketch I just made now. It ticks all the right boxes: city car, mid-engine RWD, etc.
I personally like my (NOT A NARCISSIST) 3-cylinder idea, twin-charged to produce a whopping 275 BHP. Added with KERS/an electric motor, the output can swell up to 450 HP. Also, make it not sound like a vaccum. Maybe like a, hm, I don't know, a 3 CYLINDER.
A lightweight carbon-fibre chassis and advanced aero (like the evo shown a few pages ago) help the car turn as if it was on rails. It also has carbon-ceramic brakes for those tense moments. It weighs only 650 kgs.
Oh, yes. The headlights will have the GTP logo, and when activated, half go on low low beam and both go on for high beam.

@787bcgr your design is awesome. Fits well within the concept of VGT and has a cool spider/crustacean appearance.
As for engines, even though I was going for a twin charged hybrid rotary I feel we need to follow the poll. The advantages of the V4 is it's a compact configuration. 2 stroke and turbo and NOS will have it pumping up to 500hp, plenty for a sub 800kg car.
