Nothing wrong with that, but it's hard to see how one couldn't like them

They have their place and I do have loads of respect for most of them that are done right. They just don't float my boat, that all.

SZ, but confederate flags as even a vaguely popular modification bump it AAAAAAAALL the way down to a meh.

Not totally uncool, as long as it doesn't have a confederate flag on the roof and racing numbers on the side.

Just so we are all aware, most people who own confederate flags ARE NOT racists or proponents of slavery.

Oh, fully aware. Doesn't stop it from being tacky.

Could be worse:

Or much worse:

Meh. It has more uncool entertainment appearances than cool ones, and it's always seemed a bit of an also-ran in the ranks of the 60's muscle cars. It certainly isn't a Boss or Cuda.

Voting "meh" would be unfair, though, so I'll abstain for now. It's falling on either side of that once I do vote, though.

This car was uncool when it was new, and while it seems cool now, a closer look to car buffs sorta disappoints. It came with a column shifter (wtf?), were notorious for not actually having R/T performance upgrades upon delivery, were slower than the cheaper Plymouth Duster and arguably the Challenger/'Cuda (yes I realize it's in a different class), and needed a special edition to be somewhat competitive on the oval. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love this car, but there's a reason why they didn't sell in decent numbers, because they weren't actually that good.

Probably the most awesome muscle car in the history of the muscle car. Uncool because of all the wrong pop culture appearances.

Drive a 1969 Charger and no one remembers Crazy Larry Dirty Mary, they remember the General Leee, which is probably the most uncool car in the history of movies/TV. They will immediately ask you if your car is "like the General Lee". Or they'll tell you it's like the one from F&F. A few people, car people mind you, will remember Bullit, but they will also know the car in Bullit was a 1968 because they know about cars and have seen the chase in YouTube. And this drips down to haunt Coronets and Satellites, too. Every B-Body is suddenly like a General Lee. And the General Lee freaking sucks balls.

This is the saddest example for me of how TV and pop culture can absolutely smackingly ruin a truly awesome car, because man these are freaking bad-ass, best tail-lights ever.

Also, lol at people mentioning the car from Bullit or from F&F. Those aren't 69s.

So mean looking, so hilariously big, so very uncool because "Moe-Pahr" guys.

Since the R/T option went from basic 383 cars to the HEMI ones, there is still hope for these to be used a bit instead of "Mopar-guy"-ized, but I absolutely get what you're saying.

kind of annoyes me that a car as redundant and rediculouse as an american muscle car manages to get 45% of the votes towards sub zero. whats the big deal? looks good, sounds good, sucks in about every other aspect. :boggled:

It doesn't matter that it's terrible to drive, just look at it

Same as how the muscle car guys go on about ricers and Civics and hate anything that's FWD, 4 cylinders, or a hatchback. It's almost as if making wide sweeping generalizations about types of cars is a matter of personal taste.

For some introspection, look at your post on the XKSS, currently the 6th highest car on the wall.
lolno

I'm actually surprised I even gave it a cool I was going to give it a meh. I don't really car for roadster type cars or convertibles for that matter.
Or this post, from the 5th highest car's thread.
Meh. It's probably a decent car, but I find it pretty ugly looking.

So that's two of the cars rated near the very top of the cool wall, and widely considered to be some of the coolest cars ever made. You were pretty lukewarm/meh on them, and now are shocked that people aren't fawning over a muscle car.

And then there's the 4 cylinders thing that @McLaren brought up. When you and the muscle guys go on about how bad Civics are, how 4 cylinders and small cars are lame, and how they remind you of ricers and uncool hipsters, how do you think the other side views a car that's most famous for being painted with a confederate flag?

@Cano I hadn't even noticed that this was the '69. To me, it doesn't matter, but the moment someone puts a confederate flag on anything it becomes seriously uncool (unless it's done in jest, like that General Lee Mini running around Le Mans last year). When I see this body style of Charger, I think Bullitt. I think awesome. I think sub zero. If I'd seen the Dukes of Hazzard or actually remembered that it existed when I voted I doubt it would have made it above meh.

Why is it that if somebody says "I don't like 4 cylinder hatchbacks" we're supposed to pass it off as another opinion, but if somebody says "I don't like old muscle cars" we need to start a big ole debate about cubes and history and leaf springs?
Same reason if somebody said they don't like off-roaders versus someone who doesn't like supercars. One simply has a stronger (and often more attached) following than the other.

Pros:

The best car in Bullitt.
Name.
Colours. [Plum Crazy, Green, Pink]

Cons:

Dukes Of Hazard.
Victorian schoolhouse on wheels.
Mrr pwrrrr.
You'd look like a frigging idiot in one. Opinion, deal w/it.
It's not a Barracuda.

Uncool
