This car's only redeeming feature is that it might not blow up before it hits 100,000 kilometers.

Note... "might".

Mine has over 111,000 miles on it. I guess the previous owner had been a bit busy.

Surprisingly the most interesting car I took driving lessons in, aside from the Mazda2 of course.

But it's a Kia which is already a bad start, and it's from the era that Kia and Hyundai were still trying to pick up the economy car game which makes it worse.

Uncool, but not Seriously so because it's not a Rio Sport-Pac:

It was only had the Spectra name in North America, the Cerato name was for the rest of the world.

Even then, this nomination is really not meant to be taken seriously, it's purely a joke.

Why even bother when you read into what he actually said it's basically saying NA > rest of the world and I actually did what @Roger the Horse said cause it was that asinine.

As for the car I'll make it very simple. KIA didn't actually start building a real car until 2009/2010.

I really don't even care if he cares about what he says about me having completeness in my nomination. I know it isn't cool, and I won't even try to convince anyone it is, even if I am making a joke of it (like referring to it as "The Kia" and having what I had in the original nomination).

It is what it is, and that's all it is.

Highway miles only count as half. :D

Most new cars won't fall apart spontaneously, actually. The local Kia Picanto is one of the better secondhand buys among small cars. Tough, dependable little bugger. But there are spots here and there where Kias have issues.

The Spectra, though... just utterly beige (no offense... I used to drive a B14 Sentra with an auto).

I always like the original Sportage, even if it did have problems with rusting like a 70's Alfa. And had the structural integrity of a paper bag. And a strange refusal for the rear wheels to not randomly fall off, prompting two separate recalls.

You could get them as a convertible, and one of my best friends had one such equipped in high school.

I hope the wheel drop off was optional :sly:

They were manly enough to be a car(ish) based crossover but still have an external spare; so when it did you just swapped it out.

He crashed it Senior Year and replaced it with a Rav4 of similar vintage, though; and that was fun. A lot more enjoyable than the Celica convertible one of my other friends had.

I'm going to vote seriously uncool because the only reason anyone would buy this car is to make an 'ironic statement'.

I actually think that's hardly ever the reason people would buy this car.

As has been mentioned countless times in this thread; it's an appliance. It feels like it isn't so much built on an assembly line, but more likely dropped out of a "compact car mould" after you add enough of the required paste.

Let me change that then. The only reason anyone would buy it out of personal preference instead of something with any character whatsoever.

Oh my God, it's a Tesco Value Subaru.

I was essentially pressured into buying mine. Once it's paid off, I'm going to kick it and replace it with something a lot better.

And the results are in...

-1.216!

Sorry, looks like my car is still cooler even with the AUTO SU BECAUSE WHITE & NERDY people dragging it down.

At least I don't brag about things that my car just isn't.

And that's the difference.

Actually, on that vein - why DID you buy the Kia? If you don't like it at all I don't understand why you own it.

It's not that I don't like it, I just need a monthly payment to help me build credit so I can have a better car in the future.

Sounds like you don't like it to me?

I don't hate it, I just need to build some more credit so I can have a better car in the future.
