Ummm. Difficult one this. On one hand it's a Ferrari. Uncool. On the other, it's one of the limited numbers hard-core models with an F1 engine and built with F1 technology. Cool. Unfortunately it's so fugly, especially with it's open top. Uncool again.

Uncool. It's a Ferrari for one and Ferrari's aren't cool. Not to mention that the owners of these cars are either going to be fat middle aged men, people who never drive them because they are collectors items, or fat middle aged men who never drive them because they are collectors items. There are probably some people that race them though, I'm not sure, it just gives off and air of fat-middle-aged-manliness.

You know come to think of it, I would even look daft driving around in one and I'm not fat or middle aged. I think the only person that could successfully pull this car off is a Monte Carlo playboy, and they aren't cool either.

There are no words to describe how uncool this is. Even the hellish, subatomic plasmastorm at the centre of the hottest star in the universe is cooler than this.

The complete anti-cool. Might need its own section to stop it being associated with the 9ff and BINI Clubman, both of which are Aston-fridge by comparison.

Never liked the F50... seems like it's trying too hard.

Now the F40...that's another story, and that story is SUB-FING-ZERO!

Despite Ferrari saying it's "based on Alain Prost's Car" (when it really wasn't), I like the styling of it. First thing that comes to mind when someone says "Ferrari", and/or "supercar" for that matter. To me, it's jaw-dropping and very iconic.

SUB-ZERO

It's fast, which is all that saves it from being Uncool. The F40 raised the bar extremely high, and, simply put, this car pales in comparison. Compared to the F40, this car is a mere footnote...

"Behold! the F40! the ultimate in '80s F1 technology! and Here's the Enzo, our fastest car ever when it it was introduced!"

"Oh and...here's something we made in the '90s. Not really sure, think it's an F50 or something."

The other problem was competition from some British company using a BMW engine, making a car that hit 240 mi/h, and their neighbors, Lamborghini, and the much more charismatic (and perhaps just as quick?) Diablo.

This is one of the most uncool Ferrari flagships IMO. Where did the focus on absolute performance that we've seen in the F40 go? Now that was a stripped down weekend track car, much like a GT3RS for example

If Enzo was still around for the development of this car, I'm sure he wouldn't of made it some silly targa- top, Miami vice Boulevard cruiser that was soft enough for Hollywood movie stars.

Uncool

Take it easy with the styling; this car was designed in the mid-90s after all.

I give it a cool. And since when were Ferraris uncool? How many people have talked about "the girlfriend factor"?

And since when were Ferraris uncool?

Since... like... ever.

Premiership footballers aren't cool. They're, to borrow a phrase from Bill Bailey, "vain, illiterate, borderline rapists whose only marketable talent is to shepherd a bag of leather into an outdoor cupboard". They like their status symbols and gaudy gew-gaws. And they're the number one purchaser of Ferraris.

In fact the densest population of Ferraris anywhere in the world isn't Modena or Maranello. It's Alderley Edge in Cheshire. Where all the Premiership footballers live.

Hideously ugly, A Ferrari (uncool for anything from the 80s onwards), even just comparing it to other supercars from the same period everything is a lot better than it.

Seriously Uncool. (though I would say its slightly more cool than the 9ff, just not by much!)

As with the Elise, only 8 of my 20 rules apply, 7 being pros and 1 being a con. Seven out of eight means an 87.5% = Sub Zero.

Also, im a proud owner of one...it's 1:18 and assembled by Bburago :sly:.

Why all the F50 hate? This car is the supercar I grew up with. It defined everything that a supercar should be.

Definitely Sub-Zero!

Seriously Uncool. It's just too pig ugly for me to ever fall in love with it. I second the notion of getting a Diablo over this in the '90s.

Allegedly great to drive, but has to be one of the ugliest Ferarri's ever built.

Uncool.

Agreed, Lamborgini's, TVR's and the Mclaren F1 was the car of the 90's. The F50 was far from it.

Im also surprised at how many Sub-Zero votes this car is receiving. Too many members caught up with the hype of a "VEE TWELVE FERRARRRRI", I guess

I think you're doing a bit of a disservice to the F50. It was more than just some afterthought Ferrari. It used the engine out of the Ferrari 333sp prototype, a dry twin plate clutch, all carbon fiber tub, and electronically adaptive dampers among other things. That was cutting edge tech for a road car back then, it was very rare for cars to have that tech on them. Every part of that car was an advancement on the previous F40. The F50 was the first Ferrari to really have modern F1 tech. Without the F50 the Enzo wouldn't have been born. Subzero.

Sod it, Sub-Z. It may not be the prettiest of the mega-Ferraris but it's still a mega-Ferrari, and as it's not owned by every footballer and rapper under the sun like smaller Ferraris then it's definitely cool.
