You are right:

Well,
this sounds like a very bitter Statement from an American, the more so as we here over the Pond have the Impression that most Americans are Patriots.
However, we also know that much of taxpayers Money goes to the Army, Navy, Marines and of course NSA, CIA, FBI to Name but a few. At the same time, this very Money is missing to repair or renew the infrastructure (roads, bridges, railroads, Networks etc. etc.). I can just recall a Statement of Barack Obama visiting Germany when he said, that he likes the beautiful and fast railway-Trains there !
But still we are told that the U.S. are the leading Nation in Terms of Technology, but you won't find many (here in Europe) who still believe this.
But all These are issues I could easily become philosophical or even political about, and I don't want to be that much OT.

I don't think that Americans are all blindly "patriots" and I am not the least bit "bitter". I simply stated some facts that relate to my ability to upload videos. I also think that in spite of it's short comings, the US is still one of the best places on the planet to live with opportunities that many don't have. I think that power of any kind corrupts regardless of what land mass you're standing on. To be honest, I am not an American citizen and I wasn't born here. I emigrated here when I was 15 years old, served in Viet Nam in the 60s and love and appreciate this country for giving me a better life than what I may have had otherwise. My time in the Military allowed me the funds for 6 years of full time college and two degrees (the government paid me to go to school when I got out). Just because a private corporation chooses to take the low road, it really doesn't reflect the true nature of a country's political system or it's people. In spite of the things you mention that take taxpayer monies, there is still no other country in the world that gives as much monetary help and assistance to other countries.

You get my vote on this! I never take a ghetto-blaster to motor racing events, and I don't play music which watching motor racing on TV.

I, too, want to hear the cars I am driving and the cars I am watching.

Also, It has been recommended by others to turn music OFF when racing online since it can disrupt performance. Not only the performance of your PS3, but the performance of the online room as a whole. It's an overhead which GT6 doesn't need.

I too have ALWAYS turned off the music in any racing game and also prefer to hear the sweets sounds of engine characteristics. However, when making a replay video as I do, I do a lot of slow-motion effects to better capture the action. When you do this, the normal audio of the clip also gets reduced in time also and is no longer legible as an engine sound so you have to delete the audio in these areas. If you watched a video where there was that much silence, you would find it too boring to continue watching. I make it a point to adjust the game audio up and the music volume down so that you can ALWAYS hear the engine sounds over the music. I think that the music can add to the excitement of the action. Background music is used in 99% of almost all entertainment media, so I guess there can be a variety of opinions.

Yes we can!:D(have lots of different opinions on that).
I personally don't see a reason to delete the slowed Sound in a slow Motion section of a Video!
On the contrary: it could be very interesting and "awesome" as the favourite word for such is in America I guess.
If I (as a human) would be able to SEE things in SloMo, I guess my ears would not switch to music (in no way to THAT Kind of Music) while my eyes watch SloMo Pictures!
Film-Music was used in the early days of silent-movies (or films, as they are called here), when a piano-Player was seated in front of the Screen in the theatre and played Music in order to bring some sort of thrill or Emotion to the spectators, as otherwise the only Sound would have been the ratter of the projector (and the rattling Popcorn bags of course).
Surprisingly enough, this technique has survived the Invention of the sound-film and is practised up until today, even though we have Dolby Digital 7.1 Home Cinema Centres at home and the Sound of the film alone would be just enough.
There was a director who produced a film without film Music once (can't remember the Name of the director or the film), but the film was great and it took me a while to even notice, that there is no Music playing at all, but once I realised it, I found it great and a big relief!
On the other Hand, taking my favourite film (and the greatest and best film ever produced) "2001: A Space Odyssey" (1968) by Stanley Kubrick: the first 15-20 minutes deal with "The Dawn of Man" and come without any Music, and the Drama of the Action is perfectly enough with just the live-Sound from the animals (or even complete silence or ambient Sound while showing a landscape-panorama), while the very next part shows a spaceship travelling through space to the sounds of the "Donauwalzer" (aka as : "An der schönen blauen Donau" by Johann Strauss (Sohn), and I just couldn't imagine to watch this Scene in silence!
So it all depends on which and how much Music you use in a film, but in my opinion racing Videos don't Need that additional artificial "Drama".
At least they still don't Play Music during live footage of Formula 1 or other racing Events on TV (also not during the SloMo replays).

I guess if I go back to your original post, I have to ask myself why you even said what you did. In fact, no one asked for your opinion or preference so I can't help but feel your comment was nothing more than negative criticism and made no real contribution to the intention of the video. So, while we're on the topic of negative critsism, I guess it's ok then for me to say that I found your videos quite boring since they are simply a reproduction of what I see every time I watch one of my own replays. Therefore I don't see any additional value. I spent 9 hours watching replay after replay, capturing video from different angles with different drivers and then editing it all for everyone's pure entertainment (not counting the 10 hours it took to upload).

Since people find the video so objectionable, I will definitely spare you any further discomfort.

ANFD, I appreciate the time and effort that went into cutting the highlites from the 5 races, no easy task I'm sure.
It's true that the ghosting takes away the usual realism that I've seen on your other GT6 event videos, but I believe Wauk used it in order to stop the shortcutting that happened in the previous multi race event about a month ago.

Good point! You get my vote on this!
Music (and btw chat too) means more data to be transmitted over the net which harms those, who have weak Internet connection the most!

I value what great job You have done. I as a driver might see things differently as spectator.I hope that You will do these
great films also in the future. Well done!

Both of our countries are free countries (at least mine is), so I suppose I may speak up and tell my opinion, even if you didn't ask for it!?
so I can't help but feel your comment was nothing more than negative criticism and made no real contribution to the intention of the video.
You may be right, but every producer who presents a film to the public should be prepared to receive criticism, also of the "negative" kind!

I accept this negative criticism which you are welcome to express as your personal opinion. It doesn't bother me in any way.
I share these videos for those (few) who are a bit slower than myself in order to show them possibilities for improvement. If you are one of the guys in front of me, just don't bother!
I often watch (and save) video-replays of world top-ranks in Seasonal Events, they often helped me to improve my results. And they are also mere replays, "boring" (you) as mine do.
I spent 9 hours watching replay after replay, capturing video from different angles with different drivers and then editing it all for everyone's pure entertainment (not counting the 10 hours it took to upload).
If this is a hobby of yours and you have fun of it, okay, but don't complain!
Since people find the video so objectionable, I will definitely spare you any further discomfort.
No discomfort on any side of the pond. You are not obliged to watch my boring videos as I don't have to watch yours!

After looking at a lot of replay footage, I'm a bit disappointed at all the ghosting and cars being able to nudge the car in front and then simply drive through that car and make a postion. We might consider turning penalties off so that can't happen. It detracts from the realizm for me.

Thanks for that and the effort you have put in. Brilliant job. 👍

Totally agree with the remarks regarding ghosting as I was 'lucky enough' to be taken off twice by a ghost. :ouch: Never mind, it's all part of the fun.

Please, please, please

I love all Geezers, those who are faster (cause there are so many of them) and those who are as slow as I am (cause I need the company), those who love music and those who don't, those who like ghosts and those who don't like ghosts, etc, etc. I started this thread to find other Geezers who liked to race and enjoyed each others company and I believe we have had great races together and made many new friends, I know I have.
I would like for us to remember the old adage "If you don't have anything NICE to say" take it to another thread or even better a PM.
I appreciate anyone posting pictures and videos and everyone is free to watch or ignore. I hope those with the ability and talent to share with the rest of us continue to do so.

Let's race

What, that's what the geezer room is for. We only race to take a break from practicing. I dare say not one of us hasn't benefitted from joining in the lobby room. I've learned more about getting around the track faster by following many of the faster geezers around the track than I ever did by running time trials or following a ghost from a top ten replay only to lose sight of him in turn three. Or running against the cars in the seasonals. Now if I can learn not to follow the car in front of me off the track I'd be doing something. 💡 We share tips, tunes, funny stories, ask questions, answerer questions. Sometimes we even forget what the question was, Hey, we're geezers. Running one make cars is great practice and we do that often. Bottom line is we have alot of fun and it would be hard not to become a better driver doing it this way. Forget the offline in game practice, this is way better.

No geezer left behind!

Hello All!

Totally agree and just what I needed last night! I was burnt out from all the catchin' up I was doing Fri. and early Sat., (since GT6 somewhat fixed the mess for some wheel users...I'm back on with a lot of catching up to do). Getting in the Geezer room, for just the second time, was great fun and a great way to unwind.

Thanks for letting me in on the fun!

'Ol Duce looked for you other 'ol fellas yesterday but found no one online . Did sum work trying to improve my slipping places on the latest seasonals and the TT's at the new Spain track, did a couple races with folks I hadn't known before and called it a day. Doing this post merely to give the GEEZER CLUB thread a "BUMP". :gtpflag: But,, I'm sure I'll find our usual group back online this morning (Pacific time) or sometime today 👍👍.

Thank you Geezers for a fun afternoon, right up until something killed my PS3s. The side screens locked up permanently at the start of the last lap, the center screen froze for about 20 seconds, finally got to limp along only to give up shortly after the race finished.

The timing was not too bad, since I had to put baby back ribs into the Big Green Egg. Failure to do so was not an option!

If "baby back ribs and Big Green Egg" don't mean much to you, an education is available at -

Lessons learned today:-

The really fast Geezers (that's pretty much everyone except me) are not so scary.
If you get in a lucky lap, it's possible to set a competitive lap time.
It only takes one good lap to set a record, even if my second best lap was 1.4 seconds slower.
The Camaro Touring Car is probably my new favorite, with maxed out PP and RH tires.
Apricot Hill Reverse is now "on my list"!

Thanks, @waukazoo, for setting up the room. Despite technical glitches, it was a wonderful experience.

Now, back to the Egg...

Hi Geezers, not had much chance to join you guys the last week, and now relatives from the UK are staying for a week before heading out to Vancouver.
See you when everything quietens down again.

If you see my name pop up, I'm just keeping up the S/I bonus.
Keep having fun.

Another thanks to the afternoon Geezers for your encouragement on the Reverse Apricot.

I tuned up the Camaro by replacing the round driver numbers with square ones, and painting the car Chrome Gold. This deadly combo got me just below 1:17 on lap 3!

I have to ask myself why you even said what you did. In fact, no one asked for your opinion

the moment somebody shares anything it is indirectly asking for feedback ...
whether its positive, constructive or negative.
in other words it is a reaction, and if you wouldnt consciously await a reaction from the "audience",
you wouldnt have shared your creation/s.

I didnt give him any feedback, i didnt even watch the video ... i just pointed out that "no one asked for your opinion" is not valid once you share your work with an audience. :banghead:
Whether it is a video, music you composed or a picture you shot ...

This is what happens when Geezers stay up toooo late on a Saturday night. Samba Time. :lol:View attachment 228263 View attachment 228264

What an inspiration!

The final championship in the National "A" is a perfect venue for the Sambabus. Maybe not quite with the speed required on the Monza event, or the brute force mountain-climbing required at Panorama, but overall a winner.

Here is my bus, enhanced with square numbers and chrome paint for extra speed, absolutely demolishing the best of German engineering.

Of course, the fully chromed wire wheels played their part in victory.

Fellas,, only because most of us HATED these cars at one time I'm preparing this message.

We were play'n with the SENNA Lotus, a few LMP cars and the Formula GT today. We ran them at SPA, MONZA and the new Sierra tracks and actually had a good time with them once we found a decent tune for the Lotus. I'll jot it down below as well as a tune for the FGT just in case you're look'n for some settings to try. Nope, I can't take credit for creating them but we GEEZER'S are sure good at pilfering what we need,, when we need it!

Formula GT (did the oil change) - 842 pp / 891 hp on RS tires:
RH: 55 / 40, SR: 17.90 / 19.00, Damp - Compression: 6 / 8, Ext: 8 / 6, ARB: 4 / 5, Camb: 0.0 / 0.0 (may need to fiddle with the camber I think),, Toe: -0.10 / +0.08, Brakes: 7 / 8,

Trans: It's been so long since I set my cars up I really don't remember whether it was flipped or not so may need to take a look at Motor City Hami's tune here: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/motor-city-tunes-gt6.291066/page-19#post-10033084

LSD: 10 / 20 / 12, DF: 675 / 865, 140kg ballast @ -11

SENNA LOTUS 97T '85 (did the oil change) - 902 pp / 1049 hp on RS tires:
RH: 59 / 60, SR 23.45 / 25.85, Damp - Compression: 7 / 4, Ext: 4 / 7, ARB: 1 / 3, Camb: 1.8 / 0.8 (again, may want to fiddle with this camber), Toe: -0.10 / +0.07, Brakes: 5/ 6,

Trans: reset to DEFAULT, set FG to 5.500, MAX Spd to 149, set 1st gear: far left - 3.230, 2nd: far left - 2.217, 3rd: 1.700, 4th: 1.375, 5th: 1.214. Set FG to 3.400. I used this at MONZA, SPA and Sierra but others had very good luck sliding the FG to 2.650 so you'll want to fiddle with the FG to suit 'cha.

LSD: 12 / 17 / 12 (again, these settings are mine, you'll likely want to tweek them to your diving style)
Full DF @ 1500 / 2000, "0" ballast but we slid the ballast slider to +50. Some say FUEL is ballast but this is a driving sim so who's to say whether or not this really makes a difference. For me it does 👍:)

Some of us did take the RED BULL Standard around the track but with the new steering fix's GTP gave us my steering for this car needs some heavy work so I'll not post my settings for this car just yet.
