I'm still impressed by the fact that as a group, we have a notable distinction. Several in our group are in their 70s and others like myself are in late to mid 60s. If our average age were to be 66.9, then with 15 drivers in the room our cumulative life experience is over 1000 years. This has to be some kind of GT and GTP record !! Do you see this Kaz ? :gtpflag:

Starting on a video tonight hopefully :dopey:

EDIT (2:47 am) ... finished the movie but it ended up being almost 14 minutes (5 races). It ended up being 1.66 Gb which means it will take me about 10 hours to upload to YouTube. This means that I can't do that until tomorrow night as I can't tie up our internet all day. Therefore, the video will be up by Friday morning (EST) and I'll get it transfered to the thread then. It will be available in 1080p.

Thank you ANFD 👍👍!! We're so lucky to have you and your video edit talents among us partner:bowdown:! We're thrilled you're doing the work and going to these extra special efforts to share our GEEZER races with the World! YouTube is an amazing contribution to the internet and most of us sit in awe of people like you who take the time to learn HOW to post video's for the World to see. Thanks again for doing the work bud, we appreciate it!!

DITTO for all the GEEZERS and especially to our 'ol bud Wauk-azoo for putting the event together!! 👍👍
Can hardly wait for the next GEEZER event!

After we finished today's races I was thinking about keeping score, working up some sort of and awarding points,, but as I think further on the matter I'm not so sure that's a good idea. We do these races for FUN,, somehow keeping score just seems wrong when it comes to having fun and when we consider there will many times be other priorities of life on a race day. Guys missing out on an event to deal with REAL LIFE would for sure impact the score tallys - so IMHO I believe we're doing just fine participating in thee events as they are. :gtplanet:

I too was keeping score and my results show that everyone who was able to participate was a WINNER and all Geezer Club members were on the Podium and potential winners of the next event. An almost full room and friendly competition from front to back ( where I was hanging out) made an outstanding afternoon. Thanks to Wauk for the concept and all the work of putting it together:bowdown:, can't wait for the next Geezapalooza. 👍👍

Oh! boy, what a day of racing that was. I was dead at the end, sore arms, sore everything, but I would not have missed it for anything. It was a blast. I cannot thank enough Wauk for organizing this day, Geezer1791 for starting this tread and all you Geezers coming out and join. Looking forward for another one.

Well I did get a few photos of our last race at Daytona :) before the PS3 locked up. 👎 There's an issue with the replays causing this, :banghead: so Ill wait to post more pics until this problem is resolved. View attachment 226407 View attachment 226408 View attachment 226409 View attachment 226410 View attachment 226411 View attachment 226412 It takes forever to reboot & I don't like waiting that long. :banghead: 13 cars on the starting grid & then chaos ensues. 👍 We are Geezers.:gtpflag:

Thanks Papa for enduring the reboots to get at least a few shots for us 👍👍

Wow what an evening that was yesterday, no wins for me but that does not matter, it was the taking part and the fun factor which counted.
Thanks to wauk for hosting and all you other geezers for making it a memorable evening. :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):) collect you geezer faces here.

Absolutely brilliant!

Haven`t had much chance to play recently even keep losing my login bonus, lucky I don`t need the credits.
So it took me a couple of races to get the feel then I astonish myself with 2nd at Tokyo. Don`t think I`ve raced the track reverse before and hardly used touring cars in GT6 up to now. Had so much fun and a few adrenalin rushes .

Many thanks to Wauk for organising it all and getting it running so smoothly and a massive thankyou to everyone else for making it happen. Can`t wait to do it all again.

Hopefully I`ll see you all soon, meanwhile I`ll be lurking round here.

Trailing miserably in the GeezerBoards has sent me back to practice, practice and more practice before I venture into a GeezerLobby again!

You guys are awesome!!

What, that's what the geezer room is for. We only race to take a break from practicing. I dare say not one of us hasn't benefitted from joining in the lobby room. I've learned more about getting around the track faster by following many of the faster geezers around the track than I ever did by running time trials or following a ghost from a top ten replay only to lose sight of him in turn three. Or running against the cars in the seasonals. Now if I can learn not to follow the car in front of me off the track I'd be doing something. 💡 We share tips, tunes, funny stories, ask questions, answerer questions. Sometimes we even forget what the question was, Hey, we're geezers. Running one make cars is great practice and we do that often. Bottom line is we have alot of fun and it would be hard not to become a better driver doing it this way. Forget the offline in game practice, this is way better.

No geezer left behind!

For all the geezers who have not yet seen the new Circuito de la Sierra in it's entirety, I have made a Video of all 3 stages.
The Abarth and Scirocco-laps are not my best ones, but with the Ferrari GTO I have achieved a new (personal) record.
But it doesn't Change a Thing to the fact that I must be a very poor Driver, since e.g. our friend elias_johansson et_ currently Hosting the Seasonal Event-Tunes here on GTPlanet, has more than double the Points as I have, and I can't imagine to be very much quicker!

However, for everyone who is interested, you can watch the Videos here in Full HD 1080p:

Hey Geezers .... Brain Fart on my part !! Uploaded wauka_zoo's 5 Race Series video last night (10 hours) and got up this morning to discover I uploaded it to the wrong channel. Geeez, what an idiot. I'll have to do it again tonight so now it won't be available until Saturday morning. Sorry for the delay.

EmaNymton ..... how do you post your vids here so that they automatically open in 1080p ?

It will be available in 1080p.

I use the Elgato Game Capture HD device to record HD-Videos from my PS3.
I just produced 3 Videos from the Circuito de la Sierra races.
The one with the Abarth 500 is the longest, it is 13:05 minutes long and as a .mp4-video it has 2,76 GB.
I then converted it to a .avi-Format Video, and the same Video has now only 451 MB !!!
So 2 suggestions from me:
1.) if you have your Videos in .mp4-format, convert them to .avi (1080p), I use "AVS Video Converter" for this purpose and it does a very good Job, you can't see any difference between the .mp4 and the .avi !
You can find the download here:
http://www.avs4you.com/de/AVS-Video-Converter.aspx

2.) To reduce upload time further, of course you could still look for a cable-Provider (if you don't have one already), it's worth the Money!

But reducing video-size by a factor of 6 (!!!) using AVS Video Converter should already be some relief!?

See my post above, this must have been some sort of telepathy, as I just remembered your heartbreaking post about how you process and upload Videos.
As far as production is concerned, see the above post.
As far as Insertion here in the thread(s) is concerned: I just copy the video-URL from YouTube and then here click on the "Media"button and paste the YouTube-URL in there.
I was not Aware that the Videos automatically open in 1080p-format, at least I don't know that I do something Special to achieve this. I for myself have to adjust to 1080p most of the time by clicking in the "gear"-Symbol first and then chosing 1080p.

Trailing miserably is still participating and is almost always a lot of fun (said from real first hand experience). There is close racing with others who can't keep up with the fast guys (yet) but who are getting better through the experience and it's way more fun than running around the track alone or with the AI (who I know are not Geezers). Please don't leave me back here alone, remember your motto!

That was great getting out with you guys again on the new Sierra track. Other than racing in the Classic Mini Racing Club events here on GTP, I have not been online in racing rooms much. I really wanted to run the recent series and had all the cars, but hadn't been online to practice with you guys with those cars and opted to run the Mini races since I had been testing them a lot for the new Wednesday series. I'll be out racing more now, but my main problem is still no mike and that ruins the online fun. Not being able to hear my engine and tires or see everyone on track is bad enough.

I had my PS3 fixed for a RLOD months ago and everything works fine except it won't play DVD movies or music CD's or allow me to remain paired with the DS3 and my Plantronics Explorer 230 headset. If I move either of them away from directly in front of the PS3, they lose the connection. I re-pair the headset and it always fails as soon as I move it away from the PS3. The PS3 is less than 2 feet from me on an open table to my left and wired computer is behind and to the right of my big lounge chair that I race with.

From what I read online, I may need to "Restore Default Settings" on the PS3 and just have to reset a lot of things. It seems a little vague to me as to what do I lose when I restore the settings? I don't mind losing pictures and music, but I am wary of what game info is going to be lost. Has anyone used the "Restore Default Settings" or have more info on what to do and expect? I really want to get the headset working and enjoy the whole online experience. Again.

EmaNymton .....

Most of what I do is in AVCHD format. The Hauppage Capture device I use records in .mp4ts, .m2t and .avi. This mp4 format is meant more for streaming video and isn't recognized as a standard .mp4 in my editing software. The .avi format records at a noticible resolution deficiency so I really like the .m2t which is actually an AVCHD format. I also use the AVS Video Converter and have for many years .... it's absolutely great and has saved my butt many, many times. My editing software will burn almost any kind of file you can think of, but the AVCHD format always produces the highest quaility image. Sometimes I will take a large AVCHD file and run it through AVS to get a .mp4 file which is typically about half the size. The mp4 HD file type looks almost as good as AVCHD. However, when you upload to YouTube, they have their own transcoder which degrades the .mp4 image compared to the raw file, but their transcoder really likes AVCHD and I don't see any difference between the raw file and the uploaded version.

The fact that it takes so long to upload is simply due to my sucky ISP and upload speed of roughly 0.635 Mbps. I only live about 60 miles north of Atlanta, but it is in a rural location and there is only one option available to me for this ISP.

I noticed that your videos open in HD when I click play and I've never seen that before but really like that convenience. Maybe it's just a GTP feature.

Well, I don't have any experience with the AVCHD-Format, I just have it in the back of my (old) brain to Keep fingers away from it. And I guess for our purposes, my normal .mp4's converted to .avi's are good enough. And the Abarth Video is 13 Minutes and 451 MB. Good and small enough for me! I don't expect 4K Quality on YouTube!

0,635 Mbps is really... BS :banghead:
I have a cable-Connection for my Desktop-PC and connect via WiFi with my Notebook I'm currently writing on.
I just did a Speed-Test and have approx. 34 Mbps over WiFi (which is VERY slow for my Connection and time of day, 03:16 a.m.)
3773230986.png

Even my Smartphone connects at 25 Mbps!
On the Desktop PC I usually have 90-95 Mbps (download Speed all that is). Upload is - of course - always slower, a fact which I fail to understand until today! :D
But I'm old, I can't understand everything!

After looking at a lot of replay footage, I'm a bit disappointed at all the ghosting and cars being able to nudge the car in front and then simply drive through that car and make a postion. We might consider turning penalties off so that can't happen. It detracts from the realizm for me.

thats how we race in the higher divisions over at s.n.a.i.l. spec racing ...
for the lower divisions penalties are on and if a ghosting situation occurs it is prohibitied to overtake trough the ghost
we still have to treat it like a "normal" car

You obviously don't live in the US. As a "world power" we are ranked 34th in the world when it comes to available internet speeds. However, when it comes to corporate greed and corruption, we're ranked much higher. About a decade ago the Federal Government set aside enormous amounts of money to develop a world class internet infrastructure. These funds were made available to the ISPs to upgrade old phone lines and create new networks, both underground and fiber. All of this money was then spent on CEO bonuses and never actually put to it's original intended use. That is why we are so far behind the rest of the world today. I pay $60 a month for an download speed of 6.35 Mbps and the previously mentioned 0.635 upload speed. For 2.5 years, this same package gave me less than 2.0 Mbps (sometimes less than 1.0) although I was paying for the advertised 10 Mbps. For 2.5 years I complained to customer service, I filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the FTC (Federal Trade Commision). I wrote a letter to the CEO of Windstream (my provider). At no time did I ever get a reply from Windstream. I wrote my Congressman who forwarded my complaints once again to the FTC. They responded to me saying that since "no laws were broken", there was nothing they could do. Windstream finally replaced the malfunctioning switches in the distribution box in my neighborhood after 2.5 years which brought my download speed up to the current 6.35 Mbps.

Here is an example of what I had to deal with for 2.5 years .... (for $60 a month)

Well,
this sounds like a very bitter Statement from an American, the more so as we here over the Pond have the Impression that most Americans are Patriots.
However, we also know that much of taxpayers Money goes to the Army, Navy, Marines and of course NSA, CIA, FBI to Name but a few. At the same time, this very Money is missing to repair or renew the infrastructure (roads, bridges, railroads, Networks etc. etc.). I can just recall a Statement of Barack Obama visiting Germany when he said, that he likes the beautiful and fast railway-Trains there !
But still we are told that the U.S. are the leading Nation in Terms of Technology, but you won't find many (here in Europe) who still believe this.
But all These are issues I could easily become philosophical or even political about, and I don't want to be that much OT.

To say something on the Topic here:
I like the car Stewyripper drove @ Silverstone (the orange coloured #25)! I would like to know what car and colour it is, it just Looks beautiful to me and I would like to buy that one too and paint it in that colour.

BTW: when I click on ANY Video here (be it from you or my own) I have to manually Chose the 1080p Option, it doesn't open in 1080p automagically! This must have to do with some Setting either here in the Forum or at your YouTube account.

Also I wonder, why some names and flags are missing over the cars in some (not all) situations? Some names Show up, some are missing (sometimes).

And last but not least: the Music track(s) during the Video is not my Cup of tea! I have switched off Music in game and replays, I prefer to hear just the Sound of the cars!
Matter of taste and Age I guess.

But apart from that, I liked the Video and maybe I will participate in the next race organised, if I have the time and nerve to buy all the cars necessary, practice on the tracks etc. etc. But it must be sort of fun, especially when the races start at 13:00 EST (new York time I suppose), since this is convenient at on our continent it is then 19:00 o'clock, so it would be a nice evening adventure!

Good luck to all of you and maybe see you soon on the grid!

You get my vote on this! I never take a ghetto-blaster to motor racing events, and I don't play music which watching motor racing on TV.

I, too, want to hear the cars I am driving and the cars I am watching.

Also, It has been recommended by others to turn music OFF when racing online since it can disrupt performance. Not only the performance of your PS3, but the performance of the online room as a whole. It's an overhead which GT6 doesn't need.
