I'm resigned to the fact that those esteemed Geezers on the top of the boards would thrash me in that amphibious VW Schwimmwagen even if I used the 2J.

I found a couple of Geezers practicing at the start of this video.

Scuse me, where's the video................
Now that's weird I can see it in the Quote but not in the original????????????

Red Devil Stielow Engineering.jpg

Don't know if any of the Geezers have come across this one, Red Devil by Stielow Engineering, but I found it when looking for an American Muscle car for the suggested 3 circuit challenge, used the Shelby 350R-GT '65 then got bored and didn't try anything else.

I've found it to be a nice drive fully modded 621 PP, 971 BHP and 1377 Kg. Have practised on Mount Panorama and it's the only car I've driven there that becomes airborne on the two straights.

The biggest issue for me is that the 2J's PP is out of whack. I'd be happy if Polyphony were to bring it back into line.

In one of the Forzas the Lotus Élan was the same way, and it was dominating the boards. Turn Ten corrected its calibration to make it a normal car again. Forza leaderboards are not like the short term GT ones, so they even wiped the boards clean of pre-fix Lotus Élan car times. There were others as well.

It's ironic that in real life the 2J ended up being banned because, in a sense, its PP was broken. The sucker system was too good, and the Lexan skirts were used as a reason to ban the car. I read that the sucker system was so strong it could glue itself to a ceiling!

Hats off to Jim Hall for this and other aerodynamic innovations of course.

Looks like the modem. All the lights but power clear every 4 minutes or so. Charter tech support shows numerous TimeOuts for the modem. The NetGear NightHawk did a heroic job of masking this with its efficiency at re-establishing the internet connection. It looked solid at the computer. My WFR router on the other hand accentuated the issue which helped spot the culprit. I'll know more tomorrow evening.

My mood is improving.

Just a little note to SCClockDr regarding his modem replacement. Cable companies are notoriously stingy with modems/routers. If they are supplying your modem, check the make and model name and google it to find out if it's a DOCSIS 3.0 modem. If you're paying for anything over 10MB down, a DOCSIS 2.0 or less will throttle your connection rates. If you have to, buy your own modem. Make sure its make and model is one your cable company will provision.

Also, make them come out and measure the signal strength at the modem. I was having all kinds of trouble with mine re-synching at the most inconveniently random times and during a service upgrade installation it was discovered by the tech the signal strength at my modem was beneath acceptable tolerances. He had to install a parallel service line from the outside box and split the connections so the DVR and the Modem don't share a line, at least not until it gets out to the service box outside.

My opinion is only about the J2 PP´s in GT6 and not about the technology used ,which was a real inovation in the races
although controversial.

Modem is a Cisco 3216 and labled as DOCSIS 3.0.
...Make sure its make and model is one your cable company will provision....
How would one accomplish this?

Will do if further issues arise.

If your ISP (cable company, phone company, etc.) supplied the modem there is no need for you to do anything regarding provisioning the modem.

If you own the modem, and it's on your ISP's approved list (you may need to visit their website or call to get this list), you will need to give them a specific MAC address of the modem, which should be on a sticker somewhere on the modem, so they can provision it on their network. It won't connect until this is done.

Possum is correct.

I was taking for granted he had bought that Cisco modem and allowing for the possibility that he could be posting from another device that is not on his home (ISP's) network.

OK let me try to clear this up. Charter provided the modem. It is labeled as a DOCSIS 3.0 device. I am posting via my home network through this modem. My queries were so I might be properly informed should I indeed wish to purchase my own device in the future due to ongoing issues.
That seems a remote possibility at the moment, the connection appears to be rock solid.

Doc, I suffered Charter for years, until finally moving first to Verizon DSL, then to Verizon FIOS. ("FIOS" being a fibre optic connection all the way to the home.)

Charter provided very patchy service, with strange unexplainable, intermittent problems interspersed with less confusing periods of total failure.

After years of complaining to the Charter customer "service" people, I dumped them and discovered just how reliable an Internet service can be.

The only similarity between Charter and Verizon is that they both provided modems which require periodic power cycling to get the best behavior.

If you have an alternative to Charter, I'd suggest making enquiries about their reliability, and if the feedback is positive, consider switching.

Praying I live long enough to see fiber. There are no alternatives providing better than 3 Meg down ATM. ATT trimmed limbs for residential fiber on our street 2 years ago. We left for the summer so not sure if they actually hung it. I'll keep my eyes peeled for fiber becoming available. That would be the "bee's knees" I believe.

It appears that while cable is wicked fast the technology suffers from node signal balance issues. Where one or several black boxes on the node can get out of balance and effect the entire node. I don't think Charter has a monopoly on that issue, family in Florida see similar issues with Bright House & Road Runner before them.

The joys of living in rural America!

To see so many over 60's playing GT is great. I'm only 41 but if you start a 40 and over chapter, I'm in.

Ha ha!

I'm in the Geezer chapter for those who started GT in their seventies! Although I guess I started preparation for GT by playing Forza in my youth (commencing when I was 64).

Is honing up your reflexes at the childhood age of 41 acceptable or is it a sneaky way of cheating for later entry into the Geezer Club?

:D:D

Geezer Online was so much fun today, I forgot to have lunch until I was getting light-headed! :nervous:

Man I wish I could retire and give up this hectic work schedule:(:(:(. It is like being 14 and wanting to drive:banghead:. I guess I could give up sleeping. That would make for some great driving:lol:. It certainly is a lot of fun though when I get to race with you guys.:gtpflag:

Problem is the car of choice is apparently the Chaparral_2J_'70, yet again :banghead:, and I for one can't stand the thing. It's like I imagine driving a shed would be. Of course this could be because I can't drive the thing worth a dam anyway but am in awe of those that can. :D

After seeing this, ( I used the 2J to gold ) I tried to gold with other cars. I gold ( by the skin of my teeth ) with the Lotus Elise RC 96, and also with the Audi S1 Pike Peaks ( This one was fun )
