The current A-Spec Expert on the 'Ring.....

Has anyone a good GeezerCar recommendation based on experience for this event?

I tried some old muscle cars and had my donkey handed to me on a platter. So far, the only car I can squeeze across the line first is the McLaren I posted earlier. Being somewhat inept, I need every bit of help I can get.

The McLaren and the GT-R I chose for today's Geezer Club online events provide the sort of predictable behavior that gives me a chance of not making mistakes.

The ZZII is a good car for a win against all the cars except when the Zonda is up front, that's a tough one.

Ah, you wanted a vintage tin recommendation. :banghead: How about the '70 Mach 1 ? The field is wide open for choices. 👍

Personally I'd rather race the other Seasonals. Less stressful than running the Nurb with old iron. ;)

I'll check that car out tomorrow thanks!

You are right about the stress level, it's challenging, but a lot of fun with the right "old iron".

I tried the Intermediate Seasonal with the old Corvette Stingray Concept Racer, and I was complete rubbish. Even the spectators who "like excitement" were abandoning their posts. "Too dangerous" they said. I agreed.

So I went to plan "B". The Citroen GT Race car detuned to PP 500. Except that I can't get it below 503 with max ballast and minimum power :banghead:.

Maybe I can wear the sucker out a bit to grind those 3 PPs off. 💡

Plans "C" and "D" worked by the proverbial whisker, with the Ford Rally car (the one with Abu Dhabi on it), and the Toyota Base 86. The opposition has a lot of straight line speed, which I countered by backing off the downforce. The final lap or so was very exciting with these cars.

Before I turn the light out, dear neighbors to the north, I'm so sorry to hear about the gun-wielding nutters in Ottawa. Canada still has an exemplary record for not having citizens killing other citizens, which we should aspire to, although that's not much consolation for those affected. You have my heartfelt sympathy.

Thanks Tom, but I sold the damn thing. It's not my cup of tea. :banghead:

Not mine either. It was useful for making money in GT5 BSpec, but I never liked driving it myself. My Bobs, even when at maximum skills, still found it to be a handful and crashed it repeatedly. I'm just not that quick. So I didn't acquire it in GT6.

I'm very 🤬 disappointed with the Red Bull TT. :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

I loathe that "car". 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎 I attempted a lap & was way off even Bronze time, so I'm skipping this so called "event". 👎👎

@waukazoo, I think your plan to help every Geezer get gold in the TTs has been sabotaged by PD. :grumpy::grumpy:

I'm with both of you, 🤬 loathed the Red Bull Challenge and never completed it so don't own the car, thought the whole thing was most unrealistic. Not too sure it has much to do with being 'too dam quick', but has a lot to do with being totally unrealistic when applied to anything in the 'real world' which I for one thought the game was attempting to recreate.  :dopey: :grumpy:

Driving is, after all, a skill and if you are trying to apply that skill gained, for the majority of The Geezers, over some 40-50+ years then these things are going against all we've hopefully learned.

Gets off his soap box and walks of into the distance whistling to himself.

P.S. Would add the Suzuki GSX-R/4 to this rant as a rubbish car. :D

Well said Possum, I believe you've shared with our brothers from Canada all our sentiments most eloquently. We join you in offering our sympathy and wishes for a cease to this insanity by a very few radicals that is plaguing our World these days.

GREAT drive and thanks very much for the tune info Tom!. We'll agree the tune does make a difference for sure, BUT driving that suckah is the part that gets us across the finish line for hopefully a decent enough time to net some credits for the effort. A 1:20 is absolutely off the charts FAST bud 👍👍 ! WELL DUN! As is usual, your driving skills  leave most of us in the dust so we'll simply toddle along as best we can, try to make a full lap without the dreaded "INVALID LAP" in RED flashing in our faces and hope for the best.

Good luck GEEZERS,, we're all needing it!

For those interested in Project Cars, supposing to come out in march 2015 on PS4.

The main problem at the moment with the PS4 is that it would appear that Logitech wheels are not supported. 🤬

Sony refer the problem to Logitech and Logitech say they have supplied the required software to Sony. :dunce: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

A lot of people have invested money in their wheels and might be reluctant to throw their current hardware in the skip and purchase new. Me for one.

Try to Lambo Miura. To all geezers best holiday regards from Lahaina Maui Hi

Can't find either Muira or Miura.

There is one Lamborghini from the early 70s I think, but different name.

The other night someone queried me regarding how I managed to brake so deep into some of the turns in the Sierra. I am including my replay so you might ride along to see what I do & when. Braking a bit earlier might have yielded a bit better time though.

Unzip BCJS37016-RPLY001.zip to .\PS3\SAVEDATA\
Then copy the directory/folder PS3 to a thumb drive and insert it into the PS3
& copy it into your player OR once in game it can be loaded from the Library.
Then load the game and run the replay from your Library.

UPDATE:
Added an alternate method of loading the replay.
I've added my tune image & pdf. Please note the Tire selection and Oil Change. Enjoy the ride!

Here's a good video showing the options in setting up an online race.

For the full car list:

Wow!! Thanks OldBoy!! Maybe GT7 will have some competition eh?? Time will tell whether or not Project Cars will have the server capacity to handle the traffic. I'm still gonna get GT7 but this might just be a game we'll be looking at very closely!

If your looking for something other than the GSX-R to run in the in the Sierra time trial, I found the Mclaren MP4-12C is fast and fun to drive.
I'm not much of a tuner but like to try. Here is what I came up with and used to get a 9:25.***

More tunes for the MP4 can be found here. https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/tune...in=&pp_max=&tires_front=&prefix_id=&username=

I've gone to the dark side and I'm running the GSX-R on Sierra now. if anyone wants that tune I'll post it also.
