If your looking for something other than the GSX-R to run in the in the Sierra time trial, I found the Mclaren MP4-12C is fast and fun to drive.
I'm not much of a tuner but like to try. Here is what I came up with and used to get a 9:25.***

I've gone to the dark side and I'm running the GSX-R on Sierra now. if anyone wants that tune I'll post it also.

Thank you Wauk! 👍👍 I used your first tune for this magnificent car and ran a 9:43 the first day of the event. I was very happy with that time for a couple days and could not improve it with the McLaren. Tried a number of other cars and finally settled on a decent lap of 9.31.316 driving the Mazda RX8 Type S '07. Wasn't going to try again until this morning. This tune is absolutely fantastic!! It's still early and I've not yet ran the new seasonal's but just had to give this tune a try. Put the tune on the car, ran 4 laps - 1.) 9:43.959, 2.) 9:37.562, 3.) 9:36.441 and 4.) 9.32.211,, then fell off the track at the AMEN bend (turn 24 I think). I 'SAVED' the best lap and am on my way to the garage for a wash (we did hear a day or so ago a wash does help,, who knew  but why not try it :mischievous:) and oil change as the car is nearly at 300 miles. I'll be going back 'caus I know for DAYMN certain this tune will KIK the Mazda's butt and help me log me an improved time! Thanks again 'ol buddy for sharing this GR8 tune!! This hotrod is AWESOME and I sincerely hope we see it in an upcoming GEEZER event!

Ps: Nope, I'll NOT be driving the GSX'R as I'm not (or ever will be!!) in the running for a top 500 anyway,,, and I join the others who hate that car! :banghead: :irked: 👎👎 ;)

I'm with you @Daduce1947. I will not let the "Dark side" lure me to use the Gixer because the "Force" is strong within me. ;)

Besides, I had too much fun barely golding with my SRT4 Neon.

  I like that Papa 👍👍 We can almost hear YODA say,, "Tha FORCE is now strong within you Luke,, er Papa, do not be swayed as it will tempt you, but you are STRONG!! Resist at all costs and drive your SRT4 Neon like you stole it!"

GEEZERS RULE!👍:gtpflag:

Ohh,, Pss; I may have messed up,, forgot that changing the MP4 oil kicks the minimum pp to 508,, to get it back to 500pp must add ballast :banghead::banghead::banghead:,, added 118kg but can bump the hp from 315 to 325. Just finished the new seasonal's so going back to Sierra and see if I can beat the Mazda.

Ran the new seasonal's this morning, started with the Alfa Mito 1.4 T Sport '09, was a walk in the park at Tsukuba so before trying something that might prove a little more challenging went straight into SS Special Stage Route 5 with the same car with the power upped to max at 457 PP 242 BHP, standard engine tune but with all the little bits added including high RPM turbo, full body lightening, bonnet & Windows.

Interesting race as the last three cars needed drafting down the straight to try to keep within spitting distance but could be out braked at the end and I eventually won by 4.9 seconds. Think the rabbit's a little slow in this one, I was very surprised. :D

Actually, think all 3 are a little easy this time.

Apologies for using the Suzuki at Sierra, decide to run a lap to see what I would achieve and haven't managed to better it yet with anything else.

Hi Geezers! I need help! (Again)

The current A-Spec Expert event on Ascari with a Ferrari has introduced a new bug for me.

At the end of every event, after the confirmation of the prize money, the game goes into a state where the line of horizontal dots animates continuously and doesn't progress beyond that point. Unlike other lockups, the console is responsive to the PS button, and it is possible to request "Quit Game". Unfortunately, that sends the console into a state where it IS totally unresponsive and requires a forced poweroff. Restarting from this state has so far not resulted in the "report to Sony" option.

The result is not saved, and so the "cup" is still grey and doesn't reflect gold/silver/bronze. I'm not sure if I got the prize money added or not. I suspect not.

Anyone got any suggestions? I have cleared the cache, to no effect.

If you are at the last resort position in this, {This will consume a bunch of time} I would suggest you:
  1. Backup your game save file to a thumb drive and save that on your PC for safety.
  2. Login to PSN
  3. Navigate to the game tab list
  4. Go up the list to "Game Data Utility"
    1. Click [X] on that
    2. Select Gran Turismo 6
    3. Click [Triangle] on that
    4. Select [Delete]
      1. Click [X] and follow the prompts to delete the file.
  5. Restore your game save from the thumb drive saved in step 1.
  6. Load the game.
    1. You will be guided through the complete update process.
I did this recently attempting to fix getting kicked, then found out the cable company had an issue causing the connection to dump within 2 minutes.

Good luck! I indeed feel your pain.

Hi Wauk-azoo,
I would be VERY MUCH interested in your Setup/tune for the GSX-R you're driving @ Sierra, since I'm driving my heart out already and still I'm 25 seconds behind you!
Must be the mother of all Setups you're using for being THAT quick!
I'm not the best of Drivers, but I'm not 26 seconds worse than you, so PLEASE post your Setup/tune if you don't mind!
Thanks a lot!

Sure, I don't mind. Credit for the transmission goes to @CRANK_U1. I'm not sure where I got the suspension or if it's something I've concocted. My apologies if I'm reposting someone elses tune.

I use a controller so you will probably have to tweek the tune a bit for a wheel. I also use handbrake when I need it. I did not do an oil change but maybe I should.

I too have felt as you obviously do, that ‘they’ can’t be that quick, but have come to the conclusion that if you want to put the time in then you can, if nothing else, get a lot closer.

I have a very low threshold of boredom, 3 times around Sierra and that’s it for me :banghead: but I have found I can live with Wauk-azoo and Zona99 for the first dozen or so corners because I know it very well, having crashed out a lot, and am very sure that, if I was to put the time in, then I would be a lot closer to them for a lot longer. (I use these 2 as an example as they are invariably at the top of my ‘friends list and apologies to those who are also invariably in front of me but not mentioned )

However thanks to Geezer1791 for the idea of the GTP Geezer Club  I have found that previously having been happy with achieving Gold in the various challenges with a position in the world of somewhere between 20 – 40,000, after all I am of ‘advancing years’ and up against all the ‘young guns’ who are playing, I was happy bunny.

Now though I can happily achieve somewhere between 3-4,000, if I put the time in, and can now hold my head up as a Geezer and know that my reactions are still goodish.:embarrassed:

One last thing is that I have, as yet, not found a tune that was a magic bullet to success, to me it mostly appears to be a psychological thing where I think it’s better therefore it is especially so if the gears are changed and it sound better and I’ve run plenty of back to back tests, boredom allowing, so now just stick to my own fiddling. I mean how can you drive a car with the brake balance set 4 front, 7 rear  a sure fire recipe I would have thought to end up with the back passing you into the corner :scared:, but for some it works.

We're all pretty quick considering. 👍 👍 👍 👍

When I do use brake balance adjustments it's usually to help with under braking steering. If I can't brake and steer at the same time, the brake bias gets moved off the front and to the back. Still want that brake force there. The off/on brakers will use lower number front and back and those folks that run with ABS off will go even lower.

I used to never mess with BB numbers back in GT5, but, my GT mentor back then kept at me to try it and after I started fiddling with it, shaved over 1.5 seconds off my lap times. I know another man who does just the opposite of what I do with BB numbers and it works for him. My advice, if even such a thing might be taken seriously, is, if you decide to start fiddling with BB, go with some extreme numbers both ways, as 2/8 or 8/2, and narrow the difference between the front and back as you discover which you like better.

Being able to steer while slowing down is the difference between a missed brake point w/ a trip to the kitty litter and a missed brake point and getting the car around the outside lane and moving on.

I also find saving the ghost replay and loading it into Data Logger beneficial. I have Tab 2 set with Vehicle speed and all 4 Wheel Speeds, I slew to where there is a heavy braking event and observe the wheel speeds vs vehicle speed. I shoot for 10-20 MPH difference with the fronts slightly closer to vehicle speed than the rear. I usually see higher front BB with 4WD & FF cars but not always. I'll add I usually do runs with 5-5, 0-0, & 10-10 to establish some base line info.

A typical 4 lap data logger session goes like this:
Track Panorama 400PP & up Tsukuba for under 400

Lap 1 BB 5-5
  1. Run a conservative lap till the last straight
  2. Flat out down the hill/straight
  3. Hit the brakes a bit early to avoid an overshoot.
  4. Complete the lap
  5. Save Ghost Replay
  6. Delete the Ghost
Lap 2 BB 0-0
  1. Run a conservative lap till the last straight
  2. Flat out down the hill/straight
  3. Hit the brakes a bit early to avoid an overshoot.
  4. Complete the lap
  5. Save Ghost Replay
  6. Delete the Ghost
Repeat for 2 more then analyze the results in Data Logger.

BTW Different tire compounds can affect your results & LSD Decel can be homed in on in this manner as well.

I'm not nearly that scientific in my approach. I just run a few laps and if I can't get it to turn the way I want to under braking, I'll start running the bias to the back. For all practical purposes, if I have to drive an FF car it's usually a given I'll be running the BB way back.

Thanks a lot Waukazoo for posting your Setup.
I will try that now, but I don't have much hope there.
My Problem is, that I have messed around with my GSX-Setups so much that I have lost overview.
And in principle I just want to catch pepper-mallard who is just half a second in front of me.
Next Problem is: one of my firends (not a geezer) is a slower Driver than I am... ALWAYS, but in this race I have his ghost in front of me for more than half of the distance...that's unbearable!
And what is worst: I cannot even drive my own best lap any more, miss it every time by at least half a second (mostly more).
I didn't realise you're driving with DS3 Controller, but that's something I cannot do in a 100 years and gives even more credit to your achievements! I wouldn't want to know what you can do with a wheel!!!
Thanks to both of you... see you @ Sierra!

So now that I have adopted waukazoo's setup, I was able to improve my time by nearly 6 seconds (!) and standing now at 9:25,777 and #2152 in the world, even though I left some seconds on the track due to cowardish driving at places where I tended to usually fly out frequently.
Nevertheless, I am quite pleased with my result and have to thank waukazoo once more, even though I have changed some of his settings:
so for one reason or the other I could not set the gearbox-settings to the numbers in his setup, the slider just didn't let me do it (dunno why).
So if anybody is interested at all still in a satisfactory setup for this car and this race, here is my final setup I came up with:

I did an oil change and installed rigidity improvement.

The gear-figures in bold are the lowest I could get and set, it was not possible to set them to waukazoo's low values!
But it is still a very good, very well driveable gearbox, not reaching the limiter at any Point.

Thanks waukazoo!!!:cheers::bowdown:👍:gtpflag:

In the meantime, I have found yet another 3,2 seconds on Sierra, makes now nearly 10 seconds thanks to waukazoo's Setup.
And because I am so happy about that, I would like to share it with you fellow geezers.

Yes wauk and zona are fast, really all of you are fast:bowdown::bowdown:,and they may spend a lot of time perfecting their skills but the thing I like about all of you is that you make it fun:tup: and everyone of you are more than willing to share your setups, tips and tricks with anyone. I, for one, never realised what the data logger was for  and now I have an inkling I don't think I'll be using it any time soon as I'm beginning to realise I may be from the school of 'Run what you brung', but I'm in awe of someone who takes this much effort.

BTW if tyre compounds can effect the results does an increase in wheel size +1" or +2" make any difference, I sometimes add them for the 'BLING' value, or perhaps I shouldn't ask. :D

Good job Ema:tup:!! We wondered at what point you'd get ahead of your previous best lap :nervous: but saw you moved around and ahead at corner 23 , or as we've nick named them (after the 11th, 12th and 13th holes at AUGUSTA National Golf Course) - the AMEN Corners :gtpflag:because the chicane corners at 20 then 21/22, then safely navigating that corner (23) as well as corners 24/25 with a good time - as is the case at Augusta - is a feat in and of itself :scared:!!,, the remainder of SIERRA is a fairly safe bet - as long as we keep our nose clean and drive tight!! Again, very nice drive and I really liked the video. :) 👍👍

Hi Lionelg, I'm with you,, I add the larger wheels mainly for the "bling" :),, however I feel they actually do help but haven't really tried using stock, running a lap at a track I like,, then adding the upgraded wheels just to see. May have to do that then I'll know for sure!! 👍

We met up with Wauk, PapaGNR and J-Schwab for some fun at Nurburg GP, then "tha NURB Ring" and finally at SIERRA. Ran 570pp hotrods then the Toyota TSO 30 Hybred at max power 👍👍. Our old bud Wauk seemed to be just fine the entire time even tho he said his internet still isn't right and his up/download speeds sucked :banghead:!! We're hoping he'll be able to host, or at least join in today with the GEEZERS "some where" in GT6!! :)

@funatsixty
Yes, you're right, those 2 are incredibly quick, and now that I know waukazoo is driving a stick, I'm about to develop a serious inferiority complex!
And that's also the bad thing about this (and any other) video I can shoot, since their ghosts disappear so quickly, one can never see what they are doing differently, so one cannot learn from their lines or braking points.

@Daduce1947
Funny you named the corners after Golf holes @ Augusta National!
I play golf myself but didn't even take the time to count or number the corners @ Sierra, would detract me from driving too much. And BTW: my golf this year was just a disgust! :boggled:
But I could try to do the same with the holes in my Golf Club: we have a hole there that is sloping to the right REALLY bad, so if you're not able to hit a draw, you inevitably end up in the forest to the right (most of the time losing your ball). The hole is # 15 there and I personally just call it the "@sshole"!

BTW: as we are geezers, some of you might still remember a PC-Golf Game called "Links LS" (there were earlier Versions of that too).
Along with that game came the so called "Arnold Palmer Course Designer" with which you could really construct a golf course of your own on the PC, imaginary or real.
I re-built the Golf Club where I play for that game (took me nearly 2 years of hard work on the PC), but the result was quite satisfactory.
So if anyone still has that game (or wants to play it), you can download my Golf Course from here:

Great game, great fun and (imho) a great course!

And thanks to all of you for your nice words about the Video!

To end with a stupid question:
Do larger wheels make a car quicker or slower? But maybe that question cannot generally be answered, but as I said... it's a stupid one.
Maybe the best thing would be to try and see.......
