WE can be the "moving chicanes" in the races, give the other drivers practice passing! LOL

Hey, this could be a really serious suggestion!

See what you think of this idea. We set up a race and go through an extended practice period. At the end of practice, the field gets divided into two sets. The fast guys and then the rest of us, based on best lap times (without being too scientific).

The rest of us reduce our PPs a little to provide both a further differentiation from the experts, and to probably improve our consistency.

Essentially we'd be running a multi-class race.

It could even be polished a little further by tweaking the PPs with the objective of getting even closer racing in each of the two groups. "Success" would be that every car in each of the two groups cross the line as a bunch, with a very close finish in each group.

I have had many races with a friend where we iteratively adjust the PP to achieve very close finishes. This works brilliantly well with mismatched cars such as a Lotus and a Muscle car.

Awesome timing Possum!
A few of us Geezer's have been In hiding, secretly planing something VERY similar to your suggestion for the next Geezer club event. We are planing for it to take place in early January after everyone has finished with the holidays. We have the cars and tracks already picked. And as you said, to make this event work we will need partisipants of ALL skill levels as the drivers and cars will be matched up accordingly.
I'll be posting the detail's within a day or two.

Oh perfect!!

I'm looking forward to hearing the details.

Does it involve handicapping?

I'll be able to provide skills on the left hand end of the bell curve!

I didn't do the oil change so I was at 410 PP. A very close finish.

Great challenge Doc.

I did the oil change and a bit of blocking towards the end.

Here's the race info for the next event planed for early January.
I'm sure there will be many questions about this race so ask them as early as possible don't wait till race day to ask.

This one is a team race with three drivers per team one driver from each of thr three groups A, B, and C. Hopefully with enough entrants to have five teams. There will be five races on five tracks with three car classes. Each of the three drivers in each team will be driving a different class car.
For this to work drivers have to be split into three groups A, B, and C.
Anyone planing to participating in the event in January must run all three time trials so I can split the drivers into groups. Each time trial is a different track using a different car. The car is supplied for you. When you open the garage there will only be one car in it. Make sure to open the driving aids check and set the traction control as you like and any assist you need. The only aid prohibited is skid recovery force.
I will have the time trials set up tomorrw (Saturday) in Relics Garage if you want to join in the race in January send me a message on the ps3 or post in the thread so I can send an invite then you can join Relics garage and run the time trials.

There are five cars per class and three classes, GT300, GT500, and SUPER GT. 15 different cars in all.
Each three man team has one driver from each group. Group A drivers will drive super GT cars. Group B drivers the GT500 cars and Group C drivers GT300 cars.
Once everyone has compleated the time trials and the driver groups and teams are set you will need only the five cars in the driver and car class you are runnning. You will be useing all five in the five races.

There are five different tracks one race per track. All three car classes racing at the same time on the same track with all the drivers. Hopfully we will have five teams of three men each competing in three classes at the same time making a fifteen car grid.

The cars. All the cars have detailed interiors, with the exception of the Ford GT all of the cars are paintable, team colors anyone? All of the cars can have any numbers you choose.

You will only need the five cars for the driver group you are in. The group you fall into will be based on the results of the three time trials in Relics garage.

All cars must be stock as they were when purchased. No tuning or added parts allowed.
With only these exceptions. You may do an oil change, you may adjust the brake bias, you may use custom wheels.

The car classes are not equal. Group A drivers in super GT cars are only competing among themselves. Group B compete among themselves and group C among themselves.
The cars in a particular class are not equal. They are fairly close in lap times but all offer different caricteristics. You can choose which of the five cars in your class to use in which race. Practicing on the different tracks to decide which car suits which track best for you can make a big differance in how well you do in the races.. But, you can only use a car once. 1 car, 1 race. 5 cars, 5 races. Once a car is used it must be retired and may not to be used in any of the remaining races.

The Tracks. Not in the order of the races.
Fuji Speedway GT - 9 laps plus 1 rolling start lap
Tokyo R246 forward - 9 laps pluse 1 rolling start lap
Grand Vally Speedway forward - 11laps plus 1 rolling start lap
Nurburgring GP/F - 9 laps plus 1 rolling start lap
Twin Ring Motegi road course - 10 laps plus 1 rolling start lap
There is 1 manditory pit stop in every race.

Last but not least a huge Thank You to all the geezers who all put in a lot of time and effort buying and testing many many cars. Checking and running the cars on different tracks, recording lap times and charting the results so it was possible to sort everything out and make this event happen. Geezer1791, DaDuce1947, PapaGnr, SCClockDr, Karter995, Zona99.
My hat is off to all of you. Many Thanks.

Wow, what an event! Thanks to all of you. I'd like to be included as well.

@waukazoo, thanks to you and the team for setting this up.

Count me in please, although I'm writing this from hospital about to return home, so it may be a couple of days before I get on the track. If that's ok.

Meantime, I guess I'll be extending my garage!

I thought you knew Possums had to be quick when crossing the road.
Have a "Speedy" recovery and a fast return to the track. 👍👍

Thanks for the kind words, guys. The facelift was too much of a challenge, @nosoks, so they opted to address cardio issues instead.

Sounds dramatic, but it was just observation while I transitioned to a new medication. It took longer than expected, but I'm back home. Even did the two easy Seasonals and tried to use the FIAT 500 (1965 model) on the Apricot Hill race. That's when I realized I was too tired to drive at my usual snail-like pace.

You might enjoy seeing that FIAT taking on Ferraris etc. as a Geezer Challenge.

Anyway, near 12 hours of sleep last night might just have restored some coordination.

Thanks for the club invite, @waukazoo !

Had some practice, discussions, ideas and excitement yesterday about the upcoming Geezer Event. We are getting interest from around the world (Global Geezerdom). Please go to Wauk-azoo's Relic Garage and run the TT's to show your interest and get a spot on the grid.

I've been trying to join since yesterday and hit the green 'Join Club' button, but end up with the dreaded 'Failed' screen over and over. I've tried going to Wauk on my friends list and then going to the Relic Garage from there and still get the Failed thingy.

When Papa sent me an invite, I was finally able to join the GG&G club. I'm hoping that an invite from Wauk will do the same thing. Help!! Wauk!!

Sounds like a great event and I would love to join the fun.

Edit! I have had the Relics homescreen on while sending this and just came back to try it again and it worked! Maybe it's just waiting awhile and then hit the Join button? Whatever. I'm in!!! Thanks.

I have exactly the same problem and have now, just about given up and am resigned to having friends but cannot join in. 🤬

I have read and re-read all previous items re this problem, including mention of 'Green Orbs', never seen one, to no avail. :banghead::banghead::banghead:
Any one have any sort of answer other than 'I'm old'?

I am glad I am not the only one that can not find the TT :banghead::banghead::banghead:

The 'Green Orbs' that have been mentioned are actually, to me anyway, a 'Green World' shape made out of wire. Clicking on this will lead you to unbelievable riches in the shape of 'creating your own room' which when done will allow you to enter the TT's.

All this will happen providing you are first accepted to whichever club you wish to join. This could also lead to much :banghead: :banghead: and 🤬 🤬 but once completed the world is your oyster so as to speak.

Thanks again to @waukazoo and @PapaGnr for their help in lifting this veil of obscurity brought about by not RTFM or destructions.

Don't know if this is true or not but I was beginning to think that the 'owner' of the 'club had to be on-line at the time you first tried to join?
