My choice of Geezer car for the Tsukuba Seasonal TT. Made in Japan in 1968.

Lucky to find this rust-free example, sad it's not a Premium with the ragtop down.

EDIT:- Neither the car nor this geezer-driver were ideal choices to make Gold in this event, but with persistence, we squeaked across the line a few tenths to spare. Lack of driving expertise is the larger issue.

I recall these Datsuns having appalling rust problems, both in the body work and the chrome. A few months of exposure to the real world was enough. They were derided by MG fans as cheap Japanese "copies", and I have to say, I preferred the look and sound of the MGB.

But it's fun, all these decades later, to drive a Datsun Fairlady even if it is virtual. And rust-free!

I don't know if any of you are interested in the Super Bowl this weekend, but I was thinking about who I wanted to root for and I have decided to root for ...............................the ball boys on the sideline because they will be under a lot of "pressure".:lol:

Do you prefer Hardball or Softball?

I've not left the planet but am finding no time to host a room while Cathy is in her early stages of knee replacement recovery. The surgery went well & there seems less pain and better strength and flexibility this time around.
Doing the seasonals and clearing up some career events is a poor substitute for our ad hoc lobbies.
Miss you guys!

Draft Geezer event suggestion. Your feedback is requested.

A “blast from the past” experience with all Geezers driving very close to each other.

The objective will be a spectacle of close proximity and exciting close driving. The rewards of these events will be the experience and post race photos and videos. And a lot of exciting FUN!

The (informal) winner of an event is the Geezer whose race time is closest to the average race time of all Geezers in the race, in other words, middle of the pack. (Outliers at the front or back have no chance of winning.)

To fit with the “blast from the past” theme, the road chosen will be Toscana, chosen for its primitive surface. The cars chosen will be at least 25 years old. For the best visual spectacle, all cars should appear “utilitarian”, all of one type will be of different colors. Thus, if a car is not paintable, only one will be allowed in the event. For example the Mario Andretti Hudson, and certain others. FR is a requirement, i.e. no 4WD, FF, MR, RR cars.

In preparation for the event, a target lap time will be set which all drivers will be able to consistently achieve given a period of practice.

There will be (say) six events, each of (say) three laps. I’m guessing each event will take about 6½ minutes. The events will alternate between Forward and Reverse Toscana.

Drivers will be allowed to choose any driving aids they want to use, and will be required to tune their car to achieve close to the (yet to be defined) target lap time. I don’t want to see drivers entering really high-performing cars which can be used to achieve last-minute overtaking with ease.

The honor system will be in full play here.

At the end of each race, stragglers will be encouraged to raise their PP and anyone whose car is too easy to get into the lead will be encouraged to decrease their PP.

If you’re interested, let’s refine these “rules”.

Here are two examples of vehicles which fit the "rules" competing in the recent Seasonal, (a "Ute" and a "Wagon").

You have to join my club, Geezers, Geezlings & Gozlings. If you can't find it, I may have to invite you. Let me know.

Papa,
I went to join the Club the other day and did so, then thinking I was finished, I hit the "leave the club" button, and found I had quit the club by mistake. I tried to rejoin but was told I needed to be invited. Ooh well. Maybe you could re-invite me. I'm not very good at navigating these new rooms.
Cheers, Pete
