Posted this here before for my pet but here is the big beast with the skimpy winter tires on it. Needs a lot of body work which I have new panels for but other than that she is solid. Not bad for a 30 year old truck that had been rebuilt before. Thing used to be so much nicer...I remember when everything was new.

Yes the hood does shut all the way it just wasn't in this picture.

The bug deflector was broke by heavy wet snow falling on it off a pine tree in my driveway during a snow storm a few years ago.

Some pictures of pictures from back in the '90s. The white on the one picture is paint that got on it. I'll try to scan these in when I get a chance. The rims hadn't been painted 2 tone red and and white yet and a few other things changed like bumpers and KC lights etc. The pin striping was eventually removed.

Some of the underneath. As you can see it's in pretty good shape.

There we go! New photo dump of the Ford. :) Great. Underside is pretty clean, no rot on the frame it looks like (Which is what you want obviously). Still has rustproofing. It looked really good back in the day!

I've heard of people replacing body panels with fiberglass ones on their Toyota pickups & stuff, wonder if a similar thing is available for Ford trucks. Wouldn't need to worry about body rust anymore.

Haha yeah it looked even better when the roll bars were painted black, the KC lights went to BAJA, the diamond plates were installed, bumpers (push bar too) and the rims were painted 2 tone red and white.

The stock panels (which I believe these are) are extremely galvanized steel to help fight corrosion. They came that way from the factory starting in the mid '70s and it was upgraded every year. I'd say it did a damn good job for 30 years of constant road salt. That said I already have an entire front clip and outer rear drivers side patch fender front donor trucks except the patch fender, which is new. The paint that has peeled up off the body (in small spots) where it has not rusted, shows the steel is in almost brand new shape. Most of the rust except for the odd bubble is around the fenders edges which is typical on most trucks. The gray color on the steel is very clean.

The underside is in exceptional condition considering just how much this thing has been beat to hell. It was well kept over the years, especially when we constantly did top end rebuilds and front axle rebuilds every fall. It was undercoated and painted several times. Very very clean for it's age. Would like to stiffen up the bed sometime though, lot of rotted pine needles in the bed and its rusting the bed out little by little. A lot fo the body work we did in the bed about 6-7 years ago is starting to bubble. That bed has seen some abuse...it's only a 3/4 ton truck and the bed has seen about 3 times that weight in it alone. Dana axles saved us on that one...Dad said it was very tough to turn lol.

I seriously cannot wait until we start stripping it down again to rebuild it frame up. Won't be long now, maybe a few years at most. Dad wants to get the house and some other things paid off before he starts ":censored:ing with it" as he says  He wants to add on 16 feet to the back of our garage and I'd like to help him hoist the roof higher so he can get a lift in there...I'm sure he would really appreciate that. And then we can move the overhead rolling engine hoist over the lift haha.

Amazing how few people voted option 1.

Well, I just bought my 2nd car, a Volkswagen Golf V GTI! 5-door in Red, DSG (of course), no sun roof or sat nav, the lightest, fastest version, save for its 3-door sister car.

Extremely chuffed, still learning how to get all of the power from it, using D, S and Tip-tronic, its a virtually new car too, '06 model with less than 35,000 kms, going to go for a long late night drive tonight to get myself confortable with the car.

Found an old picture of the truck. My dad is to the far right, almost off the picture. This was taken around the mid-late '90s. Too bad our friend Bill was standing in the way :/

Here's another of my mom and dad at a very young age before they go married. This picture had to be taken around 1990 or so. Before my dad started really modding the truck.

Sorry, one of my grandfathers in the way. Truck was parked after the timing went. You can see the bug shield has just broken the past winter due to a surprise storm storm in October.

This is the 2002 Lexus LS430. It's big, it's wallowy, it leans like a mother in the corners and pulling into a parking space is a guessing game, even with the parking sensors. The steering gives almost no feedback, and the brakes aren't quite up to the task of bringing this 4000 lb car to a halt. But I still love it. It does a great job of pushing you into your seat when you put your foot into it, and it makes a nice V8 rumble at the top of the RPM range. Even on the crappiest of roads, you can call this a comfortable car. On the smoothest roads, it's sublime, and you can barely hear anything, even with the radio off. It is the exact opposite of driving fun. Most car enthusiasts would hate its loose, light steering and Cadillac-like (a 1995 Deville, not a CTS-V obviously) roadholding, but I enjoy it for some reason. It'd probably be embarassed by the modern V6 Mustang at a stoplight, and the Mini Cooper S it shares the garage with would put it to utter shame in the corners, but that's alright with me. It's not a lively car by any means, but 81,000 miles and 11 years later, it doesn't feel loose at all. I love it.

I drive a 2004 Mini Cooper S MC40. Its a special edition by Mini, with only 1000 made, mine is #727. It commemorates 40 years since the original Cooper won the 1964 Monte Carlo Rally. The wheels and lights are factory, along with the stickers. It also comes with a few other extra things that aren't worth mentioning.

The only modification that I've done to it is a set of Brembo rotors.

Here it is, my 2006 Jeep Liberty. It's a lovely car, whether you choose to believe so or not. It's pretty mundane, but only to people who see it that way. It's a lot more than just a basic SUV to me, because of the way it feels and how appealing it is to me. Most would argue that there is nothing special about it because they're so common, but that's alright because it really does stand out to me. It has power everything, and it even includes a nice sunroof that is great for cool days when you need a rush of fresh air in the car. Its nearly impeccable four-wheel-drive system allows the car to crawl through tough road conditions such as snow or ice, which is an issue where I live. It's never given us a problem either. From the day we bought it, it's run great and started every time. It has a pretty gutsy 3.7 V6 under the hood churning out about 215 horsepower, which isn't a whole lot, but it sure gets the job done. Acceleration time is plenty quick enough, especially when getting up to speed quickly in busy traffic is a necessity. The steering is smooth, the wheel itself is leather-wrapped and is comfortable to hold on long drives. The suspension is somewhat stiff, but it still leaves room for some comfort on the road over rough bumps. It is a Jeep, after all.

I don't know about the brakes. For a decade old car, I think they still do reasonably well at bringing that much car to stop. And I wouldn't call the size a hassle as I find the outline of the hood as a nice indicator pulling forward. But then again, I've probably driven 20-30 in the last year. :P

And there is no "can". That is a comfortable car on any road. I've ridden in my boss' a couple times out to lunch & it's still one of the few cars I've ever been that just glides over the road. It's one thing every LS to date has done perfectly (seriously, get some seat time in the new one :sly: ).

As for the steering, I wouldn't knock the car for it. This is far from one of the last cars I would actually want to push the handling limits. The new F-Sport alone, can cause uneasiness in the pants due to the size of it when you put it in S+ & give a corner a go. The only factor that keeps you from completely panicking is the faith in today's technology that allows such feats with a big car.

I don't know about you, but I just can't get used to the brakes for some reason. It always feels like I'm either braking too hard, or I'm braking too softly, too soon. They tend to squeak sometimes too, but I suppose that's just a sideaffect of the mass and age. Parking is a chore though. It's tough to figure out how far to pull in so that the rear isn't hanging out of the parking spot. Plus there's just that "oh my god don't scratch this black car" factor that makes it a little unsettling. I supposed I'd get used to it eventually doing it on a daily basis, but for now I try to park away from everyone else. :P

You're right, it is a comfortable car on the road. Cracks, potholes, suspension joints don't seem to upset the ride much at all. My only knock against it is the way it tends to wobble on weird, uneven, chunky pavement patches. But I guess that's a sideaffect of how softly sprung it is to keep a smooth ride. I imagine the air suspension equipped Ultra Luxury model would do a better job of keeping body motions down, but then the air suspension costs an arm and a leg to replace. The only newer LS I've sat in is the 2013 F-Sport, and that did feel like a very high quality car. I hear the '07-'12 LS460 is a bit of a disappointment though.

This is a hard area to judge because I haven't driven very many neutral cars. I've driven loosey goosey SUVs, tight Corvettes and an assortment of Minis, and then this. It's more loose than I'd like, but it's not as bad as an SUV. I do like how a series of cracks require minimal steering adjustment. Try driving the same road in a Mini and you'll be fighting the wheel for control.

Here is my 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix bought it last year after we got rid of my 2000 Ford Taurus SE, had 74,000 miles when we bought it now has a little bit over 80,000 miles.

Yep. Ford Focus. Since this photo was taken (like two weeks ago) I polished the headlights, replaced the windshield, and got a free brake replacement courtesy of the dealership.

First generation Focuses are awesome. The color's great too. 👍

The color's great, right? I spent a good two weeks scouring the area for Focuses, seeing what was on the market, learning what was and wasn't a problem, and finally setting on this one.

What's funny is that the color wasn't even a point I made, all I wanted was a seemingly good condition car, and this happened to be it. The stars must have aligned or something, because it was the perfect color.

Oh! It's also a manual, so endless fun to be had there, after a week of terror trying to get up and down hills.

Today I got my first car, a 2013 Chevrolet Sonic LTZ! Never had this much fun in a car before! :D

I've got a big, big soft spot for the original Focus. What trim is it?

We get them as Holden Barinas here, but pretty sure we don't get a turbo engine yet. It should be a nice, cheap to run car.👍

Base model ZX3. It's got wonderful amenities, like a radio.

That's about it. No power windows, no power locks, not even air conditioning. Just how I like it.
