LOL @ rice. A dual exhaust on a Z is rice, my exhaust is highly functional thank you. What you should have said is "That exhaust is not my taste."
Rice = non-functional mods.

It is a big can for sure, not everyone likes aggressive JDM styling, I however love it. Full 3" piping from turbo back and open atmospheric wastegate dump. It is VERY loud.

The can does look a little on the large side but when I put on an aerokit that will lower the rear bumper it will look perfect IMO.

I haven't been able to drive somewhere and take some good pictures, but I have taken one or two shots when my dad and I were changing the gasket and filter on the transmission.

My dad under the car.

If you look at the bottom of the windshield you can see that it has turned a blurry white. Do you know what could have caused that? I'm thinking i'll just get a new windshield, but i've never seen that before.

Glass is a liquid you know, it's possible that winshield is so old that the glass has just sagged down bulging at the bottom so to speak. Nice car though.:dopey:

I don't know how to post pics on here yet but here is a link to my ride and the other cars that reside at my house: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3041942 Thats my 1981 Chevrolet Malibu Sedan, all factory. I still have to go in for my license but I have to wait a year for that. Note- Music ain't exactly G-Rated but there is some G-Rated songs in there.
If you click on my name noname666 it will take you to my main page where you get out the family rides, GMC truck, old Gran Prix, and a Buick

Old skool.:D 👍

Although it may serve no performance benefit, the current fad that is the 'burnt titanium' look on Titanium exhaust pipes is fine. Sure, it may serve only to enhance the overall look of the vehicle, but unlike many of the other aftermarket parts many may find worthy of the 'rice' badge, this is as simple and subtle as it is overall a pleasure to look at and something that isn't likely to make anyone cringe at the sight of it. I question home-made paint jobs, tacky plastic 'ground-effects' and their sometimes corresponding home-made 'air intakes' that really don't usefully draw air into anything, but the current exhaust fad is fresh and aestethically pleasing.

Well this is where the muscle car guys and JDM guys get separated, that exhaust is way too big IMO.

JDM styling, not my style that's for sure.

So, you're saying 350Zs are rice from the factory? :sly:

The stock exhaust, yes :P It weighed 40lbs. Useless big thing of metal. The car felt much lighter when I put my new one on.

I understand some people don't like JDM style, but there is a difference between JDM and Rice. I can undertsnad if someone doesn't like japanese style cars but I hate when my car is called rice. Thank you for correcting yourself.👍

Indeed, if the new aftermarket exhaust is considered 'rice', then so too was the original dual-exhaust setup, albeit much more fittingly.

So Diablo, when do you want to have that drag race? :D

unfortunately I'm out of a job so It could take a while.

First of all I need to get it registered and insured, which means I'll have to wait for Ford to take my dad's mustang back (could be a month or two). I really wish I could pay for all of it, but my next (and last) paycheck will leave me with only $200 in my bank account. It's driving me crazy not being able to drive it.

It would also be a good idea for me to get my license before I go up there. I wouldn't want to have to keep bringing my father everywhere I go, especially all the way to Gainsville (though I'm sure he'd be quite interested). If anything, it would be nice to save the weight of him being in the car

I've said it before - beautiful car 👍

I would say it's probably the thin plastic sheet between the 2 sheets of thin glass that make up the 'laminate' windshield. Over time with exposure to sunlight the plastic probably starts to deteriorate and becomes opaque. It may also be water that's found its way between the glass laminate sheets which has evaporated in the sun and misted up.

Thank you and thank you :D

Oh well, one more thing to replace, lol. I'm going to have to find a job pretty soon because my rear quarter panel seems to be getting worse. I might just be paranoid about it rusting though because my dad tells me it's not.

That's actually a really nice tidy Holden 👍

I don't know much about them though, is it much work to put an LS into one or is it quite a task? It will be quite epic with an LS turbo though.

Seconding the really clean Commodore.

How long till need4holdenspd sees this and explodes with joy?

About right now.:dopey: Awesome car mate, very tidy. You and I have the exact same model, except mine's a Ute and a Manual. That would be why your torque seems down. When you get a manual your torque will sky-rocket at the wheels.;) Clearly you have more spending money than I do, but mine is getting lowered in a month or less if insurance and fate allows.:D

Thanks everyone! I just picked up a little Mazda 323 van as a daily, so now it begins!

I would love a manual, but I have been in far too many fast cars and realize that the ol' Buick six just doesn't have the goods. Plus an 8 sounds better. :D

I've been in a number of fast cars too, and I know the Buick V6 does have the goods. And with a turbo I couldn't see it losing too much.;)

Oh, they can certainly go, thats for sure, but the LS1 conversin is getting easier and cheaper all the time, and with the extra 2 cylinders and 1.9 litres, there is a lot more potential for horsepower. Plus its easier to extract the power. Beleive me, I have looked at hotting up the six too.

Personally I wouldn't worry about used LS1's, I would get a crate turnkey LS3 (around $6700USD +shipping) which will give an excess of 420-430hp stock straight out of the crate with warranty, or you could get a local brand new turnkey L76 for around $6700AUD at you door with warranty etc.

I have been thinking of these options for my Monaro.

I think you coul have 300kw out of that V6 for under $10k, plus it will handle better too. If you want a V8, I say do what VIPERGTSR01 just said, and skip LS1. LS3 and LS2 are stronger (I think) and have a more usable torque curve.

Meh, I cant really say much because I'm pretty hammed right now, but I will give it a few months and see what comes up. I have friends at the local GM dealerships, so I shall shake a few bushes and see what I can rustle up.

I'm not really interested in quarter mile times or track times, just something that will hold its own, be nice for cruising and be streetable. Hence why I was thinking LS1 (or similar) with a whipple charger and T56. In a light ish car like the VR, power to weight wouldbe fairly phenomenal.

nd 4 holden spd, I thought the LS1 long motors only weighed in at about 95kg because of the alloy block? A cast iron V6 would probably tip the scales at at least 150kg. Weight, and therefore handling, should not be an issue.

Don't smoke, don't drink, don't ****, at least I can ****ing think!

as for my vehicle(s):

1997 Ford Escort sedan, 5spd
Rated at 32 highway but in mixed driving I have been lucky enough to get as much as 37mpg's. Over 40 on longer trips.
A few dents and dings that are mostly unnoticeable. And dirt that won't come off.

2006 Nissan 350Z base
Purchased in May, so as of yet, it is still stock. I had planned on the basics (CAI and exhaust) as well as a quaife LSD. But I may leave it stock and survive with the open differential. If I can get it paid off in 3 years I would love to get into a 370Z or possibly a BMW 135. Should still be worth over 10k at that point and should be low mileage (Escort for my commute) so I would have a nice DP if I can sell it privately.

I almost forgot about that. How that weight is positioned plays a role too, and V6s can be put further back because they're shorter.
Also consider an Alloytec V6? Street Commodores are putting a twin turbo Alloytec V6 in a VR Commodore. I can only imagine how lethal that will be.:D

That Mazda is awesome in a weird, awkward, older Japanese car way. It's in really good shape and quite clean.

Thats not my yard. I took that photo before I bought the car so I could get approval from the ministry of finance...

I hope she doesnt see this...

I like it, it goes pretty well and its fairly practical.
