What exactly did they do to him, he is very talented no doubt
They sacked him.

He missed races due to being "ill" but didn't even come along to watch! No doubt sitting at home eating pies and drinking weissbier and carrying on smoking - something which, was taken very seriously considering you're approaching a 24hour race in Dubai...fitness is as important as speed.

The show had to be diplomatic, but I can assure you Lucas deserved the seat for his enthusiasm and interest alone. Though on top of that, as I said his speed, knowledge, understanding and feedback were unparralelled by Lars.

Lars would've been torn to pieces in GT4.

Hello everyone! New here so will take a while to settle... i'm loving the demo & cant wait for the almighty GT5.
My times: tuned_136.804 / standard_148.999

i didnt said he deserved more than lucas neither lucas didnt deserve it but... what they said was that Lars didnt know how to change gears on the tuned... seriously.. waf!? he wasnt a professional racer.. he was learning.. i think someone really wanted to take his place there 👎

Lucas is definitely the best but i think Lars should be there too

Bruno, if you had Lars' oppertunity and the guys told you have to improve fitness and quit smoking. What would you do?

Somehow I think, carrying on smoking, not coming to races and not improving fitness is something you, or I would not have done. He didn't deserve it in my opinion and that opinion is shared by those who were going to be racing him.

you know more than the normal audience but they said nothing about that, they only talked (for the world :sly:) about his problem with the gears... but if thats true they have a point there 👍

I also went to Brands Hatch, in the hope of watching Lucas and Lars in action. This was before the decision was made...

Lars did not turn up. He stayed in Germany, claiming he was too ill to race.

I can appreciate this, as some people suffer with coughs/colds more than others do but tell me Bruno...would you not agree you would have at least gone along to Brands Hatch to at least, watch and take in the experience? I know you and most of the other serious gamers here, would have made EVERY effort to make it to Brands Hatch to race.

Lars did not and I feel that was the main turning point. Combined with the smoking, level of fitness, motivation and understanding of the GT4 car - they were left with no option. I just feel sorry for the 3rd...or the 4th, 5th place guys who would have given it 100% like Lucas did, who would be where he is now.

On Lucas first day while staying in England, Rob Barff woke him up at 6am and made him do a 1km swim BEFORE breakfast. That would shock anyone...but Lucas did it that's why he's still there now and that's why he'll still be there in 2010.

did a 1:36.962. Glad to get into 1:36's, which originally put me up to 15th spot overall. A trend is forming though, as I drive maybe 30 mins - 1 hr in the morning and go up to 15 or less and then at night i come back and look at the rankings, and im ~19/20.. :(

meh, still 60 days to go? D:

Down into the 1.38.5XX's after an hour or so. Hadn't played any GT since the Ferrari California update to GT5P so its been tough getting used to it again. Got a fortnight off from work though, so hope to post some reasonable times... but we'll see.

I kind of praised the physics to begin with, but having driven both cars for a few hours, I'm a bit uninspired by the car combinations that have been chosen which have a plateau of performance.

On entry and in the middle of corner, there is no point at where the tyres have grip or not, which is rather like driving a rally car on gravel. It amazes me how the top drivers have found the sweet spot which seems to be invisible. I'm not Captain Slow either, as I have been well on the pace with cars in the past that require way more finnesse than these to get the most from them.

Rant over, Tuned lap 1:36.7 Standard 1:49.4.

Was able to keep with Moose for first half of lap who is on a 1:36. 07

A friend PM'd me to say that Lars is on a 1:35.6xx HTF. No doubt some good chap over in Germany will put it on youtube.

I know exactly what you mean, and I just try and be as gentle with the throttle as I can. I am also using higher gears in some corners than everyone else to help control wheel spin and it allows me to get on the throttle harder.

Could you share some insight into what your gear choices are? I think I'm using 3rd for every corner up until the double hairpin section. Maybe should try 4th gear for the first few corners? Perhaps 4th gear for turn 6 - the long infield left hander? I presume you use 2nd gear for the double hairpin? And the final non-flat right hander must be 3rd gear.

I was down to 3rd in Belgium again when I came home this morning, only about a tenth behind 1st. After a first session in the early afternoon I improved my time with the tuned Z and was 1st again. Now I had another session and went another 3 tenths faster :).

Here are the times:

Stock: 1'48.659
Tuned: 1'36.231
Total: 3'24.890 (first and atm only player in my cournty to go under 3'25)

Still some room left for improvement as I haven't driven the stock since friday :)

Nice times buddy!

My first post!

Tuned: 1:38.872
Stock: 1:51.913
(both in top 150 in Canada)

I could greatly improve my stock time, but for whatever reason, the game wont let me remove the TCS from that car while others can. Does anyone else have this problem?

come on Stijn fingers crossed for you to take P1 at belgium:cheers:

Awesome. Some of you guys are so fast. Everytime I look at the rankings, I'd feel all right about myself, but looking at the people above me, it's like I'm pathetically slow. Kudos to those who hits 1:36s and 1:48s.

So far mine is like 1:37.136 and 1:49.9XX. Looking forward to hit 1:36s and low 1:49s by the end of this thing.

I use 3rd gear for every turn except turn 11. (last sharp right hander) For that corner I have been using 4th gear.

If you use the sixaxis, it puts you on TCS-7 ... Wheels get TCS - 0.

Ah now that's very interesting. Thanks for sharing the info. I did a 1'37.131 Tuned with (I think) 2nd gear on turn-1, 2, and the double hairpin. 3rd gear everywhere else, including the "final" corner. I would have thought there's no way 3rd is faster in the hairpins, but I suppose the proof is in the pudding! You're way into the 1'36s. So I'll try out some different gear selections.

Profi: Absolutely. For a start, traction control in real life is generally faster. Okay, to encourage users to try a more realistic experience, handicapping TC users is understandable. But six-axis users having a mandatory 7 TC is just unfair. Why is this? It's clearly going to make pad users slower. Perhaps that's the intention.

Yeah, I've never even tried to use 2nd gear in turns 1 and 2. Third gear seems to be plenty for me there. Using 3rd in the two hairpins might seem weird, but the car has enough torque and power to get it out of there without much trouble. If I had a wheel I would be using 2nd gear though...

I hope this wasnt their intention... I believe they found it too hard driving the N3s without TC themselves...
