Before you jump to conclusions, try watching the video in discussion and pay attention to the final laptime, 1'10.xxx. Now going on a 1'36.xxx lap in the tuned, lets do the maths.... 36-10=26 :dunce:

Some people just amaze me.

I hope others see what i mean...maybe i'ts my fault. I'm saying that with the crazy grip the tuned has (mainly off throtle) if it was faster on a straight line it could be able to knock off at least 15 secs off the 1.35 time and cut the gap with the f1 to single digits, something ridiculous considering its weight.

Brock are you kidding with the 26 second difference?? If the tuned had 300 hp more the gap would be 6 secs, and we are talking about a 80% heavier car... Don't you wonder why they made the tuned so little faster than the std on a straight line??? GT5D is a joke. Too arcady with the tuned and wet racing with the std.

How are you coming up with the math to figure that if the Tuned Z had another 300hp, the gap to an F1 car would be only 6 seconds? I can SURELY guarantee you that it would NO WAY in hell gain anywhere near 20 seconds if only the power was bumped up by another 300hp, especially on a relatively short circuit like Indy, that isn't really suited to an F1 car all that well (particularly the "S" section) :dunce: Where an F1 laps in 1:10 and the tuned 370Z @ ~ 1:36.

From my experience tracking and modding my real cars, I will say that gaining 20 seconds on a car like the tuned Z is realistically an impossible undertaking, and very hard to achieve even if you took a bone stock car like the 370Z and were to throw everything under the sun at it (full weight reduction, brakes, suspension, 600hp, full aero, slicks, etc.). When it comes to calculating how much another 300hp is worth using your dummy math...you fail :dunce:

And lastly and most importantly - If you read closely, I've already said the tuned Z has a unrealistic amount of grip, I'm only arguing that it doesn't have more grip than an F1 car as GEORGE was trying to claim. Got it?

Fair enough but for now that's general assumption. Only way to truly find that out is to wait until the release of the full GT5

GEORGE and i are exaggerating to make our points more clear. Only the fact that there is a discussion on whether or not the tuned has more grip than the F1 proves our point.
Got it ace?

Got it. I'll make sure to have Santa drop a cookie off at your house for Christmas

I still don't understand why you would try and argue with me to begin with, when I had already stated the Tuned Z was too arcadish and had too much grip, before you even jumped in to start running your mouth

I guess you wanted to argue just for the sake of arguing, even though you didn't even know where I stood to begin with

This might get lost in the arguments but here goes.

Tuned - 1:37:7xx
Stock - 1:49:9xx

Struggling now to find much more mainly because I can't see any difference between the top replays and mine. I'm powering on as early as possible, speed carried through the corner is about the only issue, but any attempt to carry more runs me too wide.

150th or so in the UK isn't bad I guess. Wanted to make the top 100 though.. :\

remember this?

I wish i was THAT fast!

Time correction : 2:21.192

It feels great to see that i'm quite close to some of the top GTP guys.:)

quit shooting yourself in the foot phony tony, you keep making a fool of yourself.

edit: now would be a good time to invest in ego insurance.

Well, I am having a great time playing. Can't improve my times but I now have the bits to make a great lap. Now if I could only put them all together in one flying lap that would be great.

When I shave .4 of a second in the first corners I loose in the infield and/or can't fly through t11 and vice versa:(

1.37.low right there for the taking but still can't get it.

Hiting the limiter just when about to go into T11 is not helping either
But I am having a blast. Way to good this demo :)

Hi, I'm new here (well was reading all the time :D ).
GT5 is going to be my first GT (always was a fan of the series, but PS3 is my first playstation and first console that is past 5 generation)

I'm a sim racer for 3-4years (f1c,rfactor,LFS)

On topic:

Using sixaxis (but used to a wheel :/ )

tuned 1.40.7 ~
normal 1.53.6 ~

Damn i hate that i cant use my g25 (sister broke my table :D ) , but I'm improving each day :)

Using:
d-pad - steering
[]- brake
r2-throttle

tuned - no TC

Everyday improving a little, I guess that's not bad :)
But since everybody else is also improving, I'm barely managing to defend my place lol
I wonder how long...

Yup. 👍
1'37.459 was my achievement for the night. May just try to hit my target once more (459 is barely in the "low") and then to sleep.

Edit: just checked the rankings. It's getting very close. Those 0.2 of a second in the tuned between you and me, mean 10 places in the table

I guess I'll have another go then :)

SIXAXIS:
tuned, 1.38.320.

only had a few short blasts and not even tried the standard Z yet... i'm convinced i need a wheel to go competitively faster. has anyone tried both wheel AND controller out of curiosity? I'd be interested to know how much theoretical time i could save on this lap

If they gave pad users a fair shot, and removed the uneven throttle distribution, I would save up to 1 second I'd say.

I just realized all of the official Gran Turismo leaderboards have the car listings mixed up for the Demo TT. The Tuned Z column shows the normal 370Z times and vice versa. Good job Sony/PD :dunce:

Today on the Aussie Leader Boards i went from rank 235 or so to rank 155. Gotta be happy with that. I also have lots of improvement and think i could shave at least another .500 of a second off each my times quite easily.

GTP_dramakyd : Threads like this always reminds me why i love this place........so are you gonna put a spanking on him or what? i would join in on the fun but he wouldn't find it fun racing someone as slow as myself

ay!

Ask TA who did the spanking...

Ever since i realised i needed a FULL license(not probationary) to get into GT academy i haven't touched my times.

I've lost 12 spots in 24hrs, there's a lot of guys/girls maybe pushing hard out there.....

i hope to get back into it and try again soon, i think now I'm just lapping for the pure enjoyment of it. And yes, the new physics are a lot better no matter what anyone says, PD have worked for another 12 months everyday on these improved calculations and it shows how the car jumps over the bumps and squirms under acceleration. And also how the car reacts to throwing it into a corner, notice how the top guys are throwing their cars into the turns more now.

I also find that using someone else's ghost makes me slower.....because i cant pick my lines perfectly.
