Wooppee! I just broke the 1'40 barrier for the first time... 1'39.575 with the Sixaxis.

A long way to go yet, but thanks to watching a few of the pros (I just watched Stotty's replay!), I was able to identify why I was particularly crap in certain places, and immediately broke my previous best by some 0.8 s.
Good job mate.

Might be worth (if you haven't already) checking out GTP_JackStanley's replays. He's using the sixaxis...so his inputs and angles he gets the car at are probably better for you to examine?

The throttle/brake bars are delayed on replays though. Unless you want to watch their gears, I'd advise watching the replay with the graphs off and just watch the angle/pitch of the car and listen to the revs...

HTH

I'd suggest you start by using a ghost about .5-.7 quicker than your best lap and work on that until you can match it... watch it a few times then follow it and you learn the lines, braking points and how soon and how much you can get back on the gas.

Once you can match it (or get very close), download another ghost from someone again, about .5-.7 quicker again... repeat.

Speed comes from smoothness... lines, braking, accelerating. If you're smooth, and not using too much steering lock, you'll be amazed how much more throttle you can use.

The trouble is that any lap I pick that is faster than mine looks a complete mess. Looks more like being 3 seconds slower than my lap rather than 6 tenths quicker. All I've learnt is that they are quicker through 4, and after that I can't judge the distance anymore. Can't steer any less to get through as I'm using all the track as it is. Can't steer any more as I'll spin unless I reduce the power, but that's not gonna work.

The last two I tried that were about 0.6 quicker, the car was totally out of shape in 4 (virtually sideways) and messy in 5. If I was doing that it would be costing me .750s each mistake. Even if you look as moose's time he's out of shape exiting the second hairpin which would cost at least .250.

Controller users can't change the traction control for the stock car, huh? I got a 150.238 with it locked on 7. Sounds like b.s. to me if only wheel users can change it.

Presumably it was to help people avoid spins. Amusingly lots of people are still spinning and saying the game "sucks", and those who want TCS off are having to endure it for nothing.

Of course this is the case - Kimi's F1 car of that year had over 900hp and half the weight of the tuned Z, making the speed approaching the corner much greater, thus requiring more brake.

I tried again the tuned for about 40 minutes and I did 1.36.242, very easy.
You know how? I didn’t break at all at corners 7 and 10.That’s all.
You know how easy is to go under 1.36? Very easy.
If you call that realistic physics it’s your problem. But don’t try this in real life.

Turn 7 being the one at the end of the back straight, and 10 being the one that leads you back onto the oval?

By the end of the back straight you are in 5th gear doing 120+ ( I dunno I've never looked) going into a 90 degree left-hander, so that would be an impressive trick. Turn 10 is slightly less obtuse but nonetheless requires braking.

I'm assuming that when someone looks you name up on the leaderboard they will find this time and the replay to accompany it?

Look the track map.
Of course my time is there for all.

Absolute tosh. Did you avoid the easter bunny on turn 2? Yeah thought so i did too but unfortunatly hit santa clause on turn 56.

I've got the numbers of the turns wrong. 7 is the one at the start of the back straight, but you still need to brake. 10 is the final hairpin. Either way I'm looking forward to seeing this replay.

So we can all see the corner's correctly

I see his time on the board. I'll be watching with eyes like a hawk to see him get under 1'36 if its so easy 👍
Look buddy, I don’t have to prove anything to you or anyone else.
Just open your eyes and see .This is not the real driving simulator.
If you learn to drive like this, you will die.

...if this was a 20 lapper, all DS3 (unfortunatly) and all "over drivers" would have your tires melted in lap 5.

SMOTH as in real life is the way. We all like to 4 wheel drift a corner next to Home and feel fast about it... But the exit speed and average speed will be waaaaay better if you do it smooth, right on the limit. And this is a driving simulator, and in the demo case, a track simulator with one of the cars tunned sepecifically for it, and for speed. Not over driving, drifting, fun ride, power trip, ego hightening, god mode "driving".

It's hardcore simulation, it's hard...

Way to snap at someone that is agreeing with you.

What to expect from a "new member"

You opened your mouth and said, under 1'36 is so easy, not me. If you can't put you money where your mouth is then I advise you keep it closed 👍

Don't think I've posted times in here yet, but could be mistaken.

Normal car: 1'48.513
Tuned car: 1'36.510
Total: 3'25.023

That gives me the best time for the normal car on the Belgian leaderboard, and 3rd overall very close to position 2.
Sorry Manuelos, you're back to place 4 ;)

......
Using sixaxis (but used to a wheel :/ )

tuned 1.40.7 ~
normal 1.53.6 ~

Damn i hate that i cant use my g25 (sister broke my table :D ) , but I'm improving each day :)

Using:
d-pad - steering
[]- brake
r2-throttle

tuned - no TC

Today I managed to make my self a "table" (from exercise bike (or how is it called?) and couple pieces of wood :D)

So i hooked my g25 and after 6 laps with each car:

1'39.797

1'52.155

3'32.952

469 worldwide? (i see all the country's)

Reading about your times makes me sad :D

(G25 users what FFB settings are you using?)

PS: driving is much smoother now (as expected). I feel like I can be much faster but I'm too careful with the throttle.

After bit of work and using G25 for Tuned...

Yesterday
Stock 1'49.982 (G25, MT, TC 0)
Tuned 1'37.551 (DS3, MT, TC 5)

Stock 1'49.517 (G25, MT, TC 0)
Tuned 1'37.013 (G25, MT, TC 5)
Total 3'26.530 70th in UK

Hey guys, i just got a 137.877 (improving). Seriously i'd like your opinion even if u think its garbage, I'm using sixaxis, autobox , traction on 7. But just tried traction 6 and think i can shave maybe quarter of a second at most? What i'm asking is this time good average or poor in your opinion given the set up im using can anyone give me a hint tip? I honestly am taking her around as smooth as butter, I'm currently 312th uk. But want to be back on leader board.

Nothing wrong with your time at all 👍

My biggest tip would be change to MT. Will take some getting used to but you will be amazed at the difference.
Holding a gear through a corner can make a big difference. For example, turn 1, auto might take you down to 2nd but 3rd is plenty enough. Also help with the wheels not kicking up a smoke cloud behind you

I was using DS3 until other day and managed 1'37.5xx
Seen a user in this thread in the 1'36s using Sixaxis, main tip is use manual, 3rd gear for hairpins and left hander before them. I believe it's turns 8, 9 and 10, short shift 4th before the last corner where everyone 'cuts'
