Looks like France, Spain and UK entrants will probably need a 23 to make the top 20 by the deadline.

Tuned: 1'37.530
Normal: 1'49.829
Overall: 3'27.359 (235th / UK)

I'm not too happy with my times, I can probably improve them but not by much, all I can really hope for is to stay in the top 250 in the UK.

When I used to race and did consistent times I always discovered that I was not on the limit but in a comfort zone.

If you can do 47.8's lap after lap then a 47.6 is somewhere in you ;)

Yup, it's good advice. Keep at it Timppaq 👍

When you reach a good consistent pace it becomes your new standard and it's gradually easier (or less hard...) to do them. So eventually, and sometimes suddenly, you'll find a handfull of precious tenths.

That's for sure. I am not relaxed with my time (3'23.474) so...

In the first Academy, Spain had a 20th place in 1'20.493, time at which nobody had arrived by half the competition

Managed to bust my pedals on my G25, the carpet gripper snapped off completely when I was pressing the break through the floor.

Anyway, made up a box from 5 bar aluminIum at work today to bolt them to... After two laps brought my time down to within spitting distance of 1.35.XXX with a 1:36.060  Weird thing is that the lap didn't feel remotely quick and I wasn't paying attention to splits, when I crossed the line and saw my time I almost fell off my chair.

I'm thinking my issues in getting a decent time were pedal related, come to think of it they were slipping around a bit. Makes me wonder also what effect a proper race chair would have, but maybe thats taking it too far.

Twentieth place by region.

When all is said and done, driving multiple laps within 5/1000 is quite an achievement at this level! 👍

Nevertheless, here's hoping you succeed in even improving those records (in fact, I expect you to!)

Your work with the leaderboard and constantly giving us a global up-to-the-minute picture is greatly appreciated. I just can't imagine this competition without your input now.

This recent addition is excellent, really useful!

Hey Maff, I'm sorry to hear about that damage but your laptimes are starting to look a little scary!

I've gotten a bit sick of the demo just over the last few days, I have been staring at a 1'47 for days now, I run 1'48.0x with a dreadful T1 and T2 split, or I run a 1'48.0 with a great T1 and T2 but a rubbish T3/T4 that I spend the rest of the day catching but never passing....

I hit my best yesterday of 1'48.083 (a massive 2 day effort of 0.006 improvement :ouch:) off a T3 of .351...and then promptly destroyed a T3 of .161 and .202...which should have been dead-certain 1'47s.

So so so hard to improve now. I need a "Steve" day...

I also agree that UK competitors must hit 3'23 to survive.

All the best
Maz

Yeah I know the feeling bud, couldn't even catch my ghost for several days now, then bang, theres the lap when I least expect it or wasn't even really trying for it. Seriously considering sticking a post-it note over the split time area on the screen as I'm sure when I see a blue split it subconsciously jinxes the lap, better to just drive and drive and drive until I'm ready to chill out and watch telly for a bit.

The other thing is that I had hardly touched the game for a couple of days due to going back to work, sometimes time away really helps. Certainly with first person shooters I have my best rounds after not playing for a while, same with mixing... after a break I can usually crack out an absolute blinder of a set. Perhaps the brain just needs a bit of downtime to process what you've learned, having said that, others thrive on banging away at something continually, you know, different strokes and all that.

👍 Wise words. Love that post it idea

Did I mention how good it is to have you around again at GTP?

I actually used the post it note idea before but I eventually got tired of it. It can help though. Not knowing that you are .3 up coming into the last corner can stop you from making a hash of it.

Post its? I've used masking tape before. Needed a few strips on it though to stop it showing through , and it actually helped me drive more consistently.👍

Anyway, new time in the stock car - 1'48.418 (30th in the UK) - finally a time that I am pleased with. I'm hoping to hit the 48.2s at least, but can't see where I can improve by that much. Hoping for one of those out-of-the-blue laps Maffski's talking about:dopey:

I'll try the tuned car for the first time tomorrow, hopefully I'll be able to reach the 1'36s, and eventually hoping for a sub 3'24.5 combined time. I'll be happy to finish in the top 30 in the UK, as the top 20 seems out of my reach.

Jack.

So true it ain't even funny :banghead: It might be a competition against others but often we can be our own worst enemy.

@Maz
hehe thanks bud, it's great to be back here with you daft beggars!

I love the split times and wish there were more of them, although it looks like I'm in the minority. If I'm 0.3 up into the final corners then I know to take them normally, if I'm 0.1 down I know to try maximum and if I spin out so be it the lap is lost anyway! Set some personal bests that way.

I do exactly the same... my current tuned lap was a .28x T2! but i still hit a almost perfect T3 to do a 1'35.870, then you think o its easy just do a better start and match the T3 and theres another 0.2 off but it never happens for me. Similar with the normal car, look at my T1 its shocking it was a .21x.

That is quite neat. A problem however is that Lucas' times are shown on all leaderboards and in many places he is in the top twenty. Since he obviously will not compete in Scandinavia where he is in 14:th for instance the last qualifying time is not the one set by Grevling but rather the 21:st made by gmracing. Would it be possible to just remove Señor Ordonez' times?

My best time with the normal car is 1:49.3xx but for some reason I do not see it on the leader board. I was using GTP_Jump_Ace as my carrot (ghost) when I ran my best time today.

yeah Ordonez is first here in Ireland and he's ahead of me by +.042 ..kind of annoying. they should get rid of his and kaz's times now and leave them in Spain and Japan only, or a special celebrity board. Then again some people will argue if your not faster than ordonez you shouldn't get to the final.

I wish I was Irish.. :P

Having another blast with the Normal car today. Just got within 0.050 of my existing best within 20mins, so should come within an hour. Aiming for the elusive 47 :)

Yeah I feel like I landed on my feet with this one. I've been playing with a wheel for almost a month now so I am quite happy to be in a top 20, let alone first!

hey zocker good lap but.. you brake and accelerate simultaneous at 100% 2 more times.. how/what/why is that!?
I think its the new clutch system Nissan build.
When you shift down the car automatical gives throttle like you can do with heel toe in other cars.
