Persistence paid off for me today.

Having got up at 6am and taken a mile jog in 40cm of snow to inspect the main A41 road I'd have to use for work, I rang my manager and claimed the 27mile journey would be too much of a risk. He was OK with this, so I walked back to my appartment and went to bed.

Got up before lunch and decided to "work" at the time-trial instead. I needed to improve my Normal time so stuck at that for a few hours today and eventually pulled a decent time out of the bag and into the 3'23's at last :D

Total = 3'23.987

Tuned = 1'36.028
Normal = 1'47.959

Current UK = 7th.

Now back to the Tuned car as I'm the only 1'36 in the top UK 10 and it sticks out like a sore thumb!

Nice work Ian :cheers: Great to see you have made the 23's so early on 👍 Keep at it :)

I'm going to do some laps in the stock Z today. I haven't touched the demo in nearly a week, so I think it's time I do some catching up :scared: :lol:

Cheers man.

Got a long way to go yet though, 20 days! :dunce:

I'm going to have a quick go in the Tuned now. Shouldn't feel to bad if I don't make an improvement...but do need to get down to a 1'36.9xx soon, at least.

Edit: Cheers Zocker :D

Who's that thin guy wearing that red T-shirt on the right of Johnny? :P

I think its the new clutch system Nissan build.
When you shift down the car automatical gives throttle like you can do with heel toe in other cars.

Indeed the 370Z has auto-heel&toe but there the throttle has a small input and not what you are doing in your video, you are burning your brakes pressing throttle and brakes at the same time, this isn't the same thing.

I'm at my limit i feel with the TT. I've put solid time (20hrs total give or take a couple of hrs) in over the break (2 weeks) and it's back to work Monday, so my time that i can devote will be down to a couple of hours a week here and there right up until the deadline on the 25th. I'm not expecting to be in the right frame of mind to settle in and concentrate on lowering those times further.

But, i'm very very happy with the times. When the TT began i thought anything under a 3'25.000 would be awesome. After my final stint with the Stock car this morning taking 0.3 off my PB.... here's where i'm at:

Tuned: 1'36.284
Stock: 1'48.341

Total: 3'24.625

Back inside the Top 20 for Australia, but i'm not expecting to be there come deadline........ irrespective of that, given the time i had allocated i'm very happy.

Broke the Top 250 for the US with a 3'28.173 (231st). I can see lots of places where I can easily cut some time off, especially with the stock car. It's just really hard to piece together a clean lap with everything done perfectly.

I'm coming 115th in Australia as Draith 1'37.617 1'49.572 3'27.189

I find I lose time on T1 and T2 but somehow catch DHolland a little on T3 and T5 due to a little accelerator induced oversteer... then I drop way back on T6 due to a fear of losing control on the slippery paint.

I'm also losing time on the second last corner before you hit the Oval, where you cut across, something in my head says you're not supposed to do that and I mess it up every time.

.6 of a second to catch up to Kaz, which is my goal.

I noticed a few guys like RareWhiteApe in the board who I used to race years ago on GT3 and GT4... quite a community spirit... it's great!

I'm now finding I can catch slides a lot more consistently than I ever have in any racing game, the physics are really growing on me the more time I spend with the TT.

Well that gives me something to aim at, I'm about 0.1 behind you in the Normal and just started on the Tuned at 1.38.0x after three sessions, last of which was quite unproductive, last time I checked 150th or so in AU. Looks like I should aim for a mid 1.37 then and that should get me a few places, I'd love to finish in the top Aussie 100 but I'm not sure I can. I would also like to catch Kaz but then if I do that I'll just set myself another goal and it'll never stop....

I took advantage of many good driving tips I've found here.
Recently I was reading some precious information released by GTP_DHolland (thanks a lot and congratulations for your really amazing time records), where he suggested to take notes on the speed reached by the top scorers along the Indy track.
I was already concentrated on gears, driving line and braking but I never compared my speed (but the one on the finish line).
I prepared a sort of map related to the best lap of K.Yamauchi on Nissan 370z stock car. It includes minimum and maximum speeds (and gears) for several track parts. I also highlighted the track borders that were used by KY.

It was useful for me. I hope you may find it helpful as well.

cool 👍

Got the safe laps in :D ..now few weeks time to get the 0.1 in the tuned and .15 in the normal that I can take off still (as all in the top twenty for sure) Now it's just a matter of luck ;)

BTW, I think that's regarding to the "official" academy 1&2 for GTP (for a while at least :lol:)

Thanks a lot! Being a Yank I have to switch over to metric, but it's a better system anyway.

Great guide, but there is a danger -- the best line through a corner may well not be one that maximises apex speed. So if for example the target min speed is 85, you may match that by taking a normal apex when the correct line is a late apex, and although you may then match or exceed the target you'll be slower on the next full-throttle section.

A safer way to do it would be to look at the speeds at the end of each full-throttle section -- at the target braking point - as again merely exceeding a target speed at the end of a straight is easy...it's subsequently making the corner that's difficult. Alternatively keep the apex speeds but make sure you take the same lines as your target.

The gear guide is really good because I discovered I was using too low a gear much of the time so that guide would have saved me some time.

Hmmm, time to put my boots back on :P

Maybe (hopefully) we'll see there :cheers:

I just wish I had driver licence 👎 I live in the city and dont really need a licence, but by the looks of it I would have qualified(if not all fast norwegians are hiding til last minute :lol:)

Into the 35's and the 47's now. Mission completed for me on a personal level.

Total = 3'23.916

Tuned = 1'35.957
Normal = 1'47.959

Back upto 7th UK, joint with Sinibomb who is 6th (albeit, GTDB shows it the otherway around) and that's with EDDSKILL now in the no.1 spot.

Hit my target of late 36's for tuned..Very pleased with that. Mid 49 with stock...Maybe 2 to 3 tenths more I think...

Tuned: 1'36.979 149th

Stock: 1'49.493 177th

Total: 3'26.472 141st

Has he done this within his first day of posting a stock time? Quite clever to focus so much on one car then pop up in the competition late. 'Grats on your times though, hopefully I'll keep chipping away and make that Top 20 by the deadline

Had another session this morning. Wasn't able to improve the normal car time.

Tuned: 1'36.109
Normal: 1'48.501
Overall: 3'24.610

First time running a wheel today, gosh its hard to get used to... tried some stock laps, managed a 1:51.6. So much to improve, was such a shock on how hard it is, its a Logitech EX, i dont think the 200degree helps.

Just jagged and hour in the Normal while the wife has been asleep:

Tuned: 1'36.284
Normal: 1'48.271
Overall: 3'24.555

I'm gonna have to return to the Tuned to try and find a 1/10th or so before deadline. I've exceeded my expectations for the Normal, so it's time to move on....
