I don't think I'm going to like this game. lol

My hand and thumbs are so sore right now. I hate the pads for this game. Even with GT4. They suck so bad. I guess I'll take the suggestion to use the triggers. I couldn't drive the car around the course smoothly if I really wanted to. The DS3 is just ridiculous to use with this game series. Since I can't use the wheel, it looks like this is going to be a non-purchase game for me. Shame. The accuracy of the car handling (physics) is amazing.

At least I ranked number 54 in the USA, or whatever the location was. I noticed all the different nationalities, so I have no clue where it is I'm ranked. I also didn't see any "GTP" names. Why?

My problem is not the gas. Is the steering, never got used to the analog stick thingies :blargh

G25 on now. Basically learning to drive again... Is just that good. Only lap I completed without going off I improved the pad time by a whole second.

Oh and left foot brake for the win... Never felt so natural and easy

The lap timer is objective.

Of course it is, but there should be some degree of human review with these times in the end. I'm sure his times will be beaten as the challenge continues, but he sets a bad example for people shooting for his ghost. In a challenge where the ultimate goal (for his region) is to compete for a real race seat, I feel proper race lines must be shown some degree of respect, and qualifying lap times must be held to that standard. If he were to cut a corner like that in a sanctioned event every lap, he'd be black flagged without a doubt.

Not trying to be contrary, just throwing my opinion on the matter out there. I really don't even think cutting the corner the way he does is saving him much time.

Normal: 1'51.676 (54th)

Tuned: 1'39.267 (92nd)

Overall: 3'30.943 (44th)

Just did a 1'39.677 rank 446 in the tuned car

I can do better than that, its quite sloppy, sliding all over the place around turn 2 and 3, i can't get the exit to t1 right :/

If you guys could, look at my ghost replays and tell where I need to improve. I'd really like some help as its very difficult to be smooth in some of the tight corners.

Got my first tuned lap under 1:39

1'38.664 :P Rank 179

Shaved nearly a second off my lap, i nailed turns 1-4, but screwed up turn 5 and 8 and lost at least another second in those two. I can still too better. We have until January 25th

Now gonna have a go at the stock car. I think it will be more of a challenge.

Using a controller (but not for long, getting my G25 hopefully this weekend/start of next week)...

Stock: 1'49.598
Tuned: 1'37.660
Overall: 3'27.258

I was 16th overall in the UK as of 2 hours a go.

I was using my GTP tag which is a US account and did horrible. 1:55 in the normal car which is rank 720 in US and something like 1:45 in the tuned car which is rank 2400 and something. I dont understand how I am doing so crap.

How did you do it? I can't get past 1'39 in Tuned or 1'51 in Stock using the DS3.

154th overall UK with times of:

Tuned: 1'38.664
Stock: 1'51.710
Overall: 3'30.374

I'm going to keep on trying until i beat Kaz's time for both. This may take a while...

The stock car i didn't really have a good go at, i can shave at least a second off there. The tuned time however, its going to take hours to get quicker.

Did the times with the normal PS3 controller and automatic gearbox.
After X-mas i have the G25, i think my times wil be better then.

NORMAL: 1:51.075

TUNED: 1:38.840

TOTAL: 3:29.915

I am getting there now. I have switched to my AUS account.

Manual DS3 Tuned: 1'41.496
Rank 284 and going down

Yet to do the stock one.

1.39.414 Tuned (can do 1.38 easy if I just put one lap together with no mistakes)
1.51.371 Stock (have no idea how much I can improve as all corners need work... at least 2 secs)
3.30.785 total (30th in PT, can improve like 10 places. On current times... tomorrow it will be another story)

Edit:
Stock down to 1.50.315, now 20th, time for another break!

Can't get over how nice and natural this feels. Best physics ever!

Gotta say great demo and will likely be great game but god Indy GP is an awful track
anyway...
So far
1:38.842 -Tuned
1:51.872 -Stock
3:30.714 Overall 192nd at last check

p.s I feel dirty for improving my times by over a second using Dualshock 3 within 2 laps, after spending over 4 hours on G25

Surely it should be faster with a wheel than a pad :/

Stock-1'52.340
Tuned-1'39.475
Overall-3'31.815 (122)

My tuned time was odd as i was terrible slow in sector 1 and then i gained 4 seconds in sector 2 which was odd. Sector 3 isnt even a Sector its a turn.

Okay guys, the next times you'll see from me will be on the US version now that its arrived. Of course, I might try and see how I fair on different region charts just for kicks and giggles.

Well, it all depends on your driving. I'm sure you aren't the first to defy the stereotypical advantage of the Wheel over the Pad.

The problem isn't that he's hitting something and getting away with it. He's cutting one corner immensely, putting the whole car past the inside curb. I don't know how they'll judge that since there weren't really any corners to cut in such a way on Eiger Nordwand last year, so there's no precedent for it... but I'm definitely going to play it safe and keep the majority of the car within the rumble strips.

This whole topic got discussed to death during the last competition where people were riding the wall to get the fastest times. What it comes down to is practicality and whatever the software allows as a clean lap goes. How can they possibly go back after the event and decide that some people didn't drive according to some unpublished rules or etiquette?

Seriously if flipping the car on it's roof and sliding backwards across the finish line was the fastest way to complete the circuit (and the game allowed you to do that) then people would do it and they would win the competition.

It's also not like it's going to change the rankings either, the fast drivers are fast no matter what the rules, the cars, the conditions or the tracks. I mean is anyone surprised that Holland is leading at this point, if so what rock have you been living under for the last couple of years? I for one am very curious to see if he is as good in a real car as he is at Gran Turismo, because if he is he'll be the next F1 champion (provided of course he drives according to WRS etiquette at all times :-D).

Well I was almost as fast with both, but in GT5P. I could tweak the settings to allow my turning to be "one shot turn in" with the pad and I have good throttle control. But in this Demo? No way. Not yet at least.

Cutting the 2nd to last corner allows me to go about 10kph faster through it. And you have to cut it 4 wheels in to the inside of the bumpy limiter or you'll loose control. Doing so influences the whole of the rest of the lap (done flat out), allowing for good .8 of a second, so I'm doing it... as everyone ahead of me...

I'm 15th in PT, and considering I'm confident I'm going to improve past Ordonez and the sensei, I'll be top ten soon :). For a while at least :(

Well if you want to run the chances of geting a DQ..... depends if there going to be strict in this.

Ive improved to a 3'26.2xx overall time, reasonably happy more left (6th in GB-top 50 Overall just), although the spainish seen to be veryyyyy strong- like top 12 drivers are in the 3'25s.

Ok, just did my first time in the US version and here they are:

Normal: 1'51.549 (9th)

Tuned: 1'39.786 (20th)

Overall: 3'31.335 (5th Overall)

Rather impressed with the Normal car leaderboard as there is alot of GTPers in the top 20. Great job guys 👍

Wow at some of the times, im 116 overall (like 3 hours ago)
1:39:9xx in the tunned one
1:53.4xx in the stock.

I think i can cut another second of each but theres no way im getting 1:36 and 1:48 , those are just amazing.
