homeforsummer, in theory, a 185cm person(me) *should* fit in the small ones, not much headroom though :D

anyway, I handled a handy plugin for making nice tubing. Results:

a human-sized single seater buggy :)

two seater V2 - still too low

Sweet, can you use those as working models in a simulator or are they static models?

Hey guys, I thought I'd come back to say happy new year :)

I hope you all have a good 2013 :)

I've got some new stuff that I came up with recently;

Wow, those designs are really cool! Next year I'm going off to uni to study automotive engineering, and I also like to draw cars, just not as detailed as that. 👍

I've always liked to draw. More mechanical things I saw than anything else. I got into drawing cars in middle school when I picked up the interest but they were always cars I saw in real life.
Today I'm currently an engineering/mechanical design student and know quite a bit more about the topic than I did in middle school. I don't think I can claim to design an entire car (and I think the title of this thread uses the wrong wording) but, given enough knowledge of a component, I could definitely draw something up on Solid Works including the actual component drawing/parts diagram.

Just got done with my mechanical engineering drafting and cad classes in college and homeforsummer is spot on with focusing on much much smaller things if you want to engineer. I have no idea about design but engineering drawings consist of very few parts and really really stress proportions of everything and including all the more technical aspects it would take to replicate it. The idea of buying a buggy or go-kart and doing some engineering sketches for modifications would be very interesting though and a great thing to try if you want to do accurate mechanical drawings. One thing I will say though is if you have the opportunity to use autocad or even better the autodesk inventor software try it, it is the most useful design ever created and even someone who cant draw worth a crap can produce wonderful designs that are ready to be fully functional right down to the weight of each part. Sometime I'll do a go-kart or something on inventor and post it-its just outstanding.
