Short Summary,
As a whole the Nationwide field shows inconsistancy in most individual drivers. Whether it has been due to participation or finishing position(that leaves out a handful of drivers: Owens-disconnected first race, Spurgy & Mustard - both only raced one out of two races). The only drivers (non-Sprint Cup drivers driving in Nationwide Races) that have showed consistancy are Grinols, Chqr & Trynor. Chqr has currently placed in top ten both races. He finished 9th at Daytona & 8th at Motegi. Trynor has finished 7th at both Daytona & Motegi. Grinols is obvious. He has two starts and two wins, nothing bad can be said about that. He already does hold one new GTP NASCAR Nationwide Record for "Most Consecutive Wins" at 2 wins in his Rookie season (hardly a rookie I'd say).
Other Records have been set already too. RAB has tied JRM for 1st with 4 All-Time Wins as a Team. They moved ahead of Roush at 3 wins. This has also put Toyota into 1st in the Manufacturer's All-Time Wins with 6 wins. They were tied with Chevy at 5 wins. RedPartyHat, owner of RAB tallied another win in the Owner's All-Time Wins at 2 wins. This moves him ahead of Crazy_Bassist, owner of Phoenix NW S1 with 1 win and puts him into a tie with M-Stall, owner of KBM S1, and also with Mule, owner of RAB S1. RedPartyHat is certainly able to break that tie I believe.
Grinols has set some high marks as well and looks promising to set new records. He has moved the 2010#83 to 2nd in Car Model/# All-Time Wins to 3, Grinols - 2 wins & GTP_Litchi - 1 win. That moved the 2010#83 ahead of #99 & HD#20 which both have 2 wins a piece. The 2010#83 is now shy of one win to the #14 which has 4 wins, Trynor - 3 wins & RFLX_Niop - 1 win. Grinols is also on pace to set a New Single Season Record & All-Time Record of Most Laps Led. He is at 108 with only two races done and ten more to go. Single Season/All-Time Record holder is Trynor at 179 Laps Led followed by JoeOfTheFire at 132 Laps Led.
Trynor holds most previous Career/Single Season/All-Time Records. Trynor just tied the record for Most Starts. Tied with Carbonox at 13. He has 12 Top Tens, that's one away from Carbonox's record of 13. Trynor holds the record for Single Season Races Led Record with 7 in NW S1. Grinols would need 6 more races to beat that record, he is currently tied at 12th for All-Time. Trynor has the record for All-Time/Single Season Led Most with 3 races (NW S1). Grinols is at 2 races, tied with Carbonox and GTP_Litchi. Most Wins goes to Trynor with 3 in S1 for Single Season/All-Time Records. Grinols can beat that with two more wins. Grinols is currently tied with JoeOfTheFire at 2 (NW S2).
Trynor also holds the record for Single-Season/All-Time Top 3's at 7. This is also the most of all active Nationwide Drivers/Non-SprintCup Drivers. He also has 7 Top 10's, Carbonox has the record at 10. Grinols is tied at 7th in All-Time Top 3's. Trynor does hold the record for All-Time Poles Record. He has 5 in NW S1, that is 4 more Poles than all other active drivers. Grinols & MustardAddict both have 1 each this season.
So that's what the numbers all say. In short all drivers are looking to step it up. Be on the look out for Owens, Spurgy and Mustard they show good strengths. Grinols will be looking to keep his streak going. A lot of others will be looking to stop him, fairly. Trynor will be looking to hold all of his records he currently holds. We can only wait to see how this series will play out!
Look for another write-up in a few weeks after some more races and we will see where this story goes!
