You could call it the 500 still. That's what they did for the real Motegi race in 1998. "The Coca-Cola 500 was an exhibition NASCAR stock car race of 311.3 miles ( 501.0 km)..." I know they ran 201 laps rather than the 200 we're limited to, but it's close enough.
EDIT: Never mind. They only used KM for exhibition races held outside the US (the two at Suzuka East, one at Motegi, and one at Calder Park in Australia).
NASCAR used distance in KM for a race at Phoenix earlier this season, calling it the Subway Fresh Fit 500. Plus, the race this past weekend was 350km at Sonoma, wasn't it?
I don't think there's anything wrong with calling it the Southern 300. It's going to be a 300 mile race at the closest thing we have to replicate Darlington. Besides, that gives us four major races at distances of 300, 400, 500, and 600 miles. I like the variation of the distances for each race.
