Seriously, I want every driver's top 5, in order of preference. Humor me.

1. TRM Road Course
2. Fuji (no chicane). The 90's Fuji track from GT4 would have been perfect but oh well.
3. The SHORT Grand Valley track.
4. HSR
5. Cape Ring Periphery, would be a lot of fun around that big ring but I'm too worried about that very unneeded jump.
6. TRM West course can also be a great track, it's very simple.

HSR
Monza
Spa
Daytona Road
Indy Road

However, I would like there to be only two road courses in the Division rather than three, as I want this to be more oval dominated, and believe there are only two IRL.

EDIT : If it was here in time I would probably want Bathurst up there as well.

Le mans 2009 (yeah, I know)
Spa
Daytona road
Grand Valley (NOT reverse)
A lot of options for 5. I want to see how the Nationwide races at Nurb GPD and Laguna Seca go first.

Would be in favour of adding a 4th (or even 5th) road course for next season.

Am I the only one who doesn't like HSR? :(

1. SuzE
2. HSR
3. Deep Forest
4. Grand Valley
5. Trial Mtn

All great flowing tracks with plenty of passing opportunities and nothing to cut.

For Grand Valley, is that full or short course? For spot 5, pick something.

This is what keeps people from putting you in a car on a permanent basis. They expect you to show up on a permanent basis.

Well I don't know if I will have the track I'm suppose to be getting motegi and spa this Friday.👍

I just spent the last ten minutes catching up and I honestly had the same top 5 as Niop before I read his. Different order maybe, but those are all favorites of mine for high speed road racing.

For some reason I don't enjoy Monza in these cars, it's a FGT or Lemans Proto track for me. I don't hate it to the point that I would've brought it up, but since your asking. :D

Before anyone asks, I'm really not in a position to "own" a team in SC. I enjoy the series and I'm happy to help when I can, but we've already seen that I'm having difficulty opening up free time for this. I absolutely intend on making every race, but that was also true for last week, I even spent a couple evinings practicing the track and look what happened.

So what is your preferred order?

Sorry. :P

HSR
Trial Mountain
Deep Forest

1. HSR - Great combination of an oval and a road course. Plenty of grooves and passing opportunities.
2. Cape Ring South - A versatile track requiring high concentration and precise car control.
3. Grand Valley East - A good "Watkins Glen" style track. Blind, high speed corners provides a challenge for even the most seasoned driver.
4. Monza - Despite corner cutting problems, Monza is a great track due to it's "boot" shape.
5. Fuji Speedway GT - I prefer the version without the chicane. Another good track.

I'm starting my race review now, and I have a feeling some finishing positions are going to change. I'll include pictures when I'm done.

EDIT - this might take a few days. It's almost a full hour to review each driver, and 14 drivers started the race.

Can I ask (not for me personally I don't think), are cutting into and out of the pits going to be penalised?

No, the pit exit line is not enforced at Monza, as long as you didn't cut someone else off, you will be fine.

Back home now, things are ok. Mum had a twisted intestine which is sorted now, she just has to take it easy for a little while.

1. HSR
2. Suzuka East
3. SSR5
4. Le Mans 2009 no chicane
5. Indy Road

Glad to here she's recovering well mate. Hope you're ok after the ordeal as well bruv 👍

Need to go to bed. Wish Murray would just lose quicker.

Okay. Let's get the ugly part out of the way first. I very clearly explained the rules for corner-cutting in the original post.

GENERAL RACE RULES/PROCEDURES/ETIQUETTE:

  • While cornering on road courses, the two outside tires must remain completely on the tarmac/concrete/pavement at all times. Rumble strips are NOT considered part of the tarmac/concrete/pavement. Anyone that is caught cutting corners can be assessed up to a 30-second penalty, per occurrence, at the discretion of the league host.
Ten days before the race, I linked to our discussion from last season, where cutting was even more clearly defined, and drawings were included to show both legal and illegal cornering, according to our rules.

The whole discussion about corner-cutting started here:

After that one post, you can skip to here:

Keep going, reading all the way through the end of post #656.

No one posted a question, raised any issues, or complained that other series allow usage of the curb. To me, this means that everyone went into the race perfectly aware of what our expectations were for legal track boundaries.

Having said that. Spurgy's race win is probably not going to stand, due to numerous corner-cutting penalties. I counted 20 cuts by the end of lap 16 (ignoring about 4-6 borderline cuts). At that point, I started being a lot more lenient, and counted only 12 more over the last 15 laps (with 5-8 more being borderline).

I was going to take images for all of the cuts, but frankly, stopping at each cut just to snap a picture was taking way too long.

From my review, the following corners were cut:

3C (Lap 3, Chicane)
3A (Lap 3, Ascari)
4C
5C
5A
6A
7A
8C
10C
10A (twice, actually)
11C
11A
12C
12A
13A
14A
15C
15A
16A
17A
18C
18A
19C
20C
21C
22C
24A
25C
27A
28C
29C
29A

That's a total of 32 cuts in a 30 lap race. I have not yet decided how much of a penalty to assess. However, when compared to Niop, who I only saw cut 3 times in 30 laps, the race win is probably not going to stand.

The fine line I have to walk here is what is fair, for all drivers. I'm obviously not going to give Spurgy 30 second penalties for each cut, as that would put him in last place. He doesn't deserve last place, as he was definitely one of the fastest cars on the track. He could have won this race, even if he hadn't been cutting every other time through the Chicane or Ascari.

However, I honestly feel that if Spurgy had been staying on track as per the rules, he probably would not have broken the draft away from Niop and Kartman as easily, which would have given them the chance to lead laps, or possibly even win the race on the track. That little bit of cutting each lap allows for a lot of gains over time when other cars have to slow down more to make wider turns going in, and come out slower with less exit speed.

Before I make any final judgments on penalties (and time per penalty), I still have a lot of other drivers to review. I have asked Niop to help me review a few drivers, to help me save time. None of the drivers he is reviewing are his teammates. I will be reviewing the entire top 5 plus the HMS cars, so there is no conflict of interest in Niop's assessing of penalties.

If any other drivers wish to assist with penalty reviews, I would welcome your help. You can review any driver that is not your teammate. A list of penalties should be sent to me via PM, using the lap number and turn that was cut, like I demonstrated above (3A, 8C, etc).

Erm, that's interesting, the car must be a lot smaller than I think it is because I remember getting it right most laps. Plus this was my 5th race of the day and I know my concentration wasn't brilliant. So feel free so stick on the penalties :)

I'm relieved at how well you're taking this. I was hoping to avoid anger and hostility, but you never know how situations like this are going to turn out. Your positive outlook is a great reflection on your reputation and character.

Just out of curiousity, which camera view do you use when racing?

I use chase cam so can't see the wheels, I assumed they were in line with the roof but clearly not  as I said my concentration was out as well and I must have thought I was further out than I was.

1. Laguna Seca
2. Grand Valley East (either way's fine, reverse better though)
3. Indy Road

Don't know of more than 3 tracks to be honest... Monza would be nearly dead last on the list, only ahead of Tsukuba, Monaco and the likes, as it's not supposed to be a NASCAR track, and people will always cut corners there which results in track-wide investigations.

I had at least one cut @ Ascari sometime at the mid-point while cruising with Nel.

For next season, I'm strongly considering replacing Monza with Indy Road, so we can avoid all this corner-cutting crap. Thoughts?
