Nicely in a wildcard, but a point ahead of Spurgy going into SuzE :nervous:

You'll still pass me in points after Suzuka, as you are only 6 points out of third place overall. I fully expect to be using my SSRX win to qualify for the wild card after Suzuka East. I'm hoping I can get back in to the top 7 on points in the oval races that immediately follow, though I also hoped to do a lot better at Indy today, too.

EDIT - wow, a stealth edit and 3 replies before I could post my reply.

Drop, any chance of filling some of the Nomination blanks in the OP for the Sprints, now we are half way through the regular season?

If you'll gather up all the nomination post links and PM them to me (preferably using the format in the SPRINTS post), I will update the post with what you send me.

Great write up Tom 👍

Got your PM as well. Must say it doesn't help with the decision I was almost at ... Grrrr.

From the stats department:

With his first career victory, Tom becomes the 12th different driver to win a Sprint Cup Race.

Droptop2001gt became the first driver to surpass 600 career laps led at SSRX. RFLX_Niop joined Drop at exactly 602 laps led after the Southern 300. Niop passed Drop for most career laps led by leading 3 laps at Indy.

Knelly surpassed 400 career laps led, the third driver to do so in Sprint Cup history.

With 1 lap led at Indy, JoeOfTheFire led his 300th career lap.

RedPartyHat's 126 laps was the second most laps ever led in a single race, trailing only Niop's 130 laps led in the Daytona 500 this season. Neither driver won the race in which they led 125+ laps. Those 126 laps led alone put RPH in sixth place on the all-time list for career laps led, above 7th place Homeslice47.

Spurgy's 53 laps led in his first three starts already have him 11th on the all-time career laps led list.

With three consecutive wins, HMS passed JGR for most all-time wins by a single team.

Niop won his 20th career pole, which gives him twice as many as JoeOfTheFire, who is second on the career list with 10 poles.

Spurgy_777 and RedPartyHat became the 10th and 11th different drivers, respectively, to earn a Sprint Cup pole with their pole positions at Monza and Motegi.

If MULE's Ford Racing team won every single race from now until the end of the season, Mule would still have 1 less win as a team owner than RFLX_Niop, who now has 14 career wins as an owner. Niop is the only driver to own a team in all three seasons.

Attached, you will find all of our stat and record spreadsheets. Career Average Finish, the Track Record Book, and All-Time Stat and Record books have been updated across the board. Enjoy!

We all appreciate the hours and hours you put into this week after week. I know I do, as well as what others contribute to this and all other GTPA series.

It's what makes it the best league / association around 👍

Agreed, it is very much appriciated. I am beginning to understand how stressful it is from trying to count laps at Daytona from the All Star series, just I don't have to do 200 laps.

Well, then you do that and so much more and that's why this is arguably the best series on the whole of GTP.

Thanks guys, especially to RFLX for helping with reviewing half the field at Monza, and for getting laps counted at Indy. I compile all these weird stats because I enjoy doing it. The reason I enjoy it is because of the people I'm racing with and against week in and week out. This league would be nothing without the deep field of talented drivers we have at present. All the stats in the world are worthless if the stats are compiled from boring races or giant cluster**** wreckfests that no one wants to continue participating in due to frustration. I feel like our series gets more challenging each and every week, in a good way. I'm always looking for other ways to make our series more fun for everyone going forward.

I also compile all these stats because I think most of the drivers here enjoy them. Most of us are very competitive people by nature, and it's always cool to see where you stand relative to the other drivers around you. I particularly like the new track record book, where you can see who led the most laps at an individual track. It really showcases a driver's strengths.

Now I just need to jump up the list a bit, got unlucky when I got wide in 1 at Indy and just about held the drift but lost the draft.

Should take a few pics of all the times I got turned in All Star just to keep it going

Ok this is actually a huge issue now. After finishing up 20 laps at Motegi, I had 80% of my tires remaining. So I believe we may have to switch to soft tires now.
And as for aero, my best lap time at Motegi was 35.6 with the same setup that did 34.7-8 alone.
ALSO when I went to test at Daytona, my first lap was a 48.8 just because I was running no downforce and I didn't even put on my Daytona setup. I was still running my motegi setup aside from downforce. This off-week came at a good time because changes must me made.

Yep, tyres last at least twice as long on actual tracks, haven't done a full tyre wear test yet though. Good news is there is no effect on tunes as far as I can tell.

I don't think it's that much of an issue, if anything the tyres sound like they wear at more realistic rates now.

How can that ever be bad?

Yeah this was my thoughts too afterall at Le Mans didn't the Audi need fuel after 10-11 laps but tyres after 20 or so ? :)

Edit: People have said there may be draft in free run :scared:. Can you imagine Q sessions now?

I'm tempted to postpone the season a few weeks, so that drivers and teams can fully test all the new changes, and evaluations can be made regarding our current specs. What do you guys think?

Maybe have a test this weekend to see how severely the changes will affect us? From what I've heard, only a couple of things have changed; tyre wear sounds good. No point pushing back if we don't have to.

EDIT: What he said ↓

I think no, really isn't that big a difference, exactly the same as before just the tyres last twice as long and changing downforce has a bigger effect, even if the tunes were messed up I would still say it's pointless postponing.

You could do what we're starting in IndyCar and run single lap qualifiers (on ovals) in the hour leading up to the race? It really doesn't take long at all.

At ovals, there will be 4 lap solo qualifying runs in the hour and a half leading up to the race done in free run. The track must be clear at all times at the request of the race director, if all qualifying is done before the scheduled green flag time, I will allow cars to go out and shakedown pre-race. The first lap will be your warm up lap and you will be instructed to exit pit lane and begin this while the last qualifier is on his cool down lap. Laps 2 and 3 will be your timed laps; the fastest lap of the two will go down as your qualifying time. Your 4th lap is your cool down, at the end of which you must enter pit lane. As soon as a qualifier finishes his 3rd lap, the next qualifier will be instructed to leave pit lane and begin his warm up.

Can test it now if you want to come on Paul.

EDIT: And Tom, your idea of not long at all is completely different to mine  it took forever to do quali :)

The quali would be quite nice to do, It would give some people the chance to try out there quali tunes. As to aero, It is making a huge difference. I have a RM car doing a B-spec event now, and even with LESS than half aero he can't overtake the same car that isn't RM'ed. This is my set of drivers who won the B-spec events in fantasy, And managed to win the 24 hours of le man in a car that is normally over 8 laps down...Aero has changed...

If we're doing solo qualifying, make it only 1 or 2 laps, with the next driver going on track once the qualifier has started his 2nd lap, in order to keep the flow going.

You need the extra lap to get up to speed, the way we run it is pretty much the most efficient way of doing it. Barely takes any time.

I just tested with an Aussie mate using his run in stock Calsonic and my un run in one on Le Sarthe and yep I drafted past him on the Mulsanne . (What was funny was he was adamant that there wasn't and was annoyed when he seen I was right. :sly:)

At Indy or Motegi, I don't think you do. At Daytona you might only get 1 quali lap at maximum speed though.

Continuing with my suggestion, drivers could go on track at the reverse championship order (with NW drivers going first) to make it more exciting too, when the top guys tackle the track last.

Anyway, I could definitely use the 'no collisions' setting to actually get results from Daytona someday.
