GTP WRS-Online Event 2 : FXXza Irresistibile! - February 5, 2014

Was there a clarification on what lap we can pit? WRP001 asked back in post #45 if it is at the end of lap 9 (i.e. 8 racing laps+1 formation lap), but I didn't see an answer.

Please clarify, can we switch from SS at the end of lap 8 or lap 9 (8+ formation lap)?

Thanks :)

You can switch to RH at the end of lap 9. So you have to do 8 race laps plus the formation on SS tires. Save them tires!

Also there will be a clarification posted tomorrow on pit exit (after some questions arose today). Basically, you shouldn't cross over the white line. You must stay to the right of the white line and can only move over to the left after the line ends. It doesn't matter if there is traffic or not, you must stay to the right for the entire length. After the white line you can move over or just approach the corner from that side of the track... but remember if traffic is oncoming you have to re-enter the racing line in a safe manor.

Just a quick shot I thought was neat from practice earlier today.

Nice! Thats me in the light green one! Must of just been right before I got a bit two heavy footted on the exit to the first chicane and span out! :banghead: Was wanting to try and keep up with you guys for as long as I could aswell!

Good practice races last night although unfortunatley im not going to make the EU race tonight now. Was looking forward to it. Even the short 5 lap races required complete concentration from me just to keep it on the track, not sure if i would of managed to keep that concentration level for 30 laps but would of given it my best shot!! :D

Are you tired of chasing the ghosts of BMW's in Rome? Why not take a drive away from the big city into the Italian countryside? The Ferrari FXX has made a home at Monza for us this week and there is a Practice Room open. closed :(

update: I believe this was my 100th post.

Tried to replicate the tire choice bug real quick and didn't see it. Started on SS and Pitted and SS and RH were available. Did two more stops on the next laps and no issues. I didn't change any settings, just created the room and it worked.

It is not a very common bug, 👍 but one that has been experienced multiple times by more than one person. 👎 Fortunately for most it is not likely that it will appear...that being said, I tested it again last night and today. It did not happen when I was in other people's rooms yesterday, but it reared it's ugly head at me this morning when I hosted this morning's room, from which I was DC'd. :( I did the old "go to settings" trick and I was able to pick the option tires during my pit stops. Glad it is not a common issue and let's hope it stays that way until PD can get the online features error-free. :P

I'm going to be streaming both EU and NA races tonight so if you're not racing and fancy tuning in, keep an eye on my youtube or I'll be posting them in here closer to the time.

@Speedy6543 You streaming too? Could have 2 angles :D
If I can get back home and set it up in time, yes. No racing from me so if I stream it'll be in 'watch race' mode.

Ha, trying to train myself quickly with this so entered the FXX in the Rain Master IA events. Hmm twitchy car on 100% rain especially in spa not good. Least monza will be dry.

What are you guys running for TC? I did my testing last night on 3, it seemed like a good compromise between frustration on fresh tires and saving-my-bacon on worn ones.

I just saw the R1 option after lap 8 and can't wait to see how that works :)

I'm running TC-1 and wish I could have figured out how to run it at TC-0 but that seemed to add just enough calm to a waskily wabbit :nervous:

TCS 0. I'm just running ABS 1, but I believe a few guys are running high ABS too perhaps?

TCS 0, ABS 1, BB 7/5

The reason I brought up TCS is that it could help folks who are struggling on worn tires. TCS is often considered a sissy tool (real men don't need traction control!), but it can help a lot if kept in low settings on worn tires. I used this very effectively in the Clio MR car in GT5 at Autumn Ring. I was getting laughed at in the practice room until I smoked 2 practice races in a row :sly: A couple of others caught on and found time too.

Touchy cars on funky tires require all that we have to keep them fun!!

TC-1 ABS-1 BB-10/9

I originally had a BB of 6/4, but the car wasn't stable enough under high speed breaking (and we all know there is a lot of that here...). I then switched it to 10/10, but dropped it down to 10/9 because I like the front with a little more stoppage over the rear. :dopey:

No sissy implication here, just stating what I am using. If you want to use TCS then great, we allow it for a reason! 👍 Much like ABS 0 which I choose not to use it's all up to the driver.

I ran a few laps with TCS 1 the other day and I still managed to spin so it's still a challenge. Most of my issues are not with the car under acceleration so TCS didn't really help me personally. My problem is sliding over a slick rumble and biting the dust that way. exit of ascari and lesmo 2 being my death zones.

TCS can also help on the tire front if you are struggling making it 8 laps on SS tires.

To admins: I cancelled my NA reserved slot; <50% chance of joining the EU time slot.

A note to any drivers that have registered at the last minute. If you haven't practiced this week it's probably a good idea to sit this one out. TCS 10 isn't going to help you. In the rankings of difficulty this is probably the hardest setup we've *ever* run in 2.5 years. Most weeks will be much more approachable.

If you've done your practice and put in the time then go in expecting you might make a few mistakes and do your best All drivers are going to need to understand they may get sucked into an accident they didn't cause. They may also cause one later themselves. But if you haven't put in enough laps you are going to be a moving tornado on the course and we would recommend sticking to the sidelines on this one. Future weeks we promise will be less deadly, although next week isn't exactly easy either, but not like this.

Also, as a reminder on rules for this week:

On pit exit you shouldn't cross over the white line. You must stay to the right of the white line and can only move over to the left after the line ends.

It doesn't matter if there is traffic or not, you must stay to the right for the entire length. After the white line you can move over or just approach the corner from that side of the track, but remember if traffic is oncoming you have to re-enter the racing line in a safe manor and yield if that's not possible.

AND...

You can switch to RH at the end of lap 9. So you have to do 8 race laps plus the formation on SS tires. Save them tires!

I am realy sorry but have to cancel for the eu race for tonight . Hope i notify in time so someone from the reserve list can join .

Everyone can hang out in the Practice Room until then. I like the company...so much snow here; going crazy. :nervous::nervous::nervous:

Oh great, I'm with the really fast people :nervous:

Just kidding, it'll be fun. I may come last but it's good to learn from the best!
