I'll post a replay Al.

Well, I checked the start and everyone did a fine job... nobody jumped. I also wanted to see who did the best and worst at the standing start:

Speeds (km/h) at 5 seconds after launch (3:044.993 secs)
  • Twissy 70
  • Tidgney 70
  • gooners 71
  • ASRacing 72
  • w-g-e 72
  • WRP 57
  • ealirendur 64
  • Jammy 66
  • oink 70
  • JTV 73
  • MadMax 74
  • Revoy 75
  • Allibubba 65
  • Tombstoneplt 59
Best: Revoy 👍
Worst: WRP 👎

Impressive that Revoy beat our resident drag racer MadMax, but only by the slimmest of margins.

My excuse is I forgot to get into 1st gear and launched in 3rd. :dunce: Lost a position straight away and it could have been worse, but Ren didn't have a great launch either and had to abort a pass attempt before turn 1. Not a good way to start the race at Madrid.

Happy to finish 4th which was my ceiling today anyway.

Here are the results:

And here is the NTSC replay for those who don't have it.

Please update your status for the NA race if anything changes. There is a chance that we'll have 16 drivers wanting to participate in which case we will need to move the race to my lounge (GTP_WRP001). Be sure you are on my friends list just in case.

Nice win James! Good job Tidgney on 3rd as well!

Thank you all for coming out! Great to see a lot of people show up .

Almost pulled off an upset, but lost my position on the last lap .

EDIT: For some of the newer people, do NOT trust the ingame fuel calculator, when tire/fuel is set to fast or very fast. Run a few laps in practice beforehand, and figure out your fuel consumption.

Cheers Mohit, I saw that you ran out of fuel just after the last chicane?

Cheers mate, you performed awesome, had me worried the entire race!! Plus I learnt something new about the exact time per litre lol. Twissys overtake was awesome, I tried to go for a cutback just to try and stay in front but my tyres nor twissy was having any of it ;p!

Looking forward to the future races :D!

Lol yeah, but I wouldn't have passed you back anyways. And luckily managed to crawl ahead in front of Tidgney.

I put in 81 L of fuel. I'll go for 83 in the NA race.

So I have partially sorted out the problem of making too much noise when racing with the pedals etc, but putting a mat under the rig. My parents have allowed me to race tonight because I have no shift at work tomorrow, but if my dad wakes up I'm going to have to leave mid race. Hopefully won't come to that and I can race till the end :D

OK, there is a decent chance we're going to be 16 tonight... full house! 👍

We can't get 16 in the 3d3 lounges as a spot is reserved for the room owner.

So we're going to move the race to my lounge: GTP_WRP001.

Everyone currently registered for NA is either on my FR list already or should have received a friend request.

I'm going to set up my lounge early (as in 3 hours before the race) as I have to be away until about 30-45 minutes prior to the race. If someone new signs up I'll check for new FR at that time.

@Al... if for some reason my PS3 disconnects while I'm gone and my lounge is not setup can you host and set up my lounge to race specs about an hour before the race? Mics are disabled and Madrid is set up as the default track.

See you all in a few hours.

Well just had a quick test this time without having to rush my tea down and needing the toilet through the entire session and so close to a 41 :(!! I'm looking forward to tonights race without the bladder issue lol!

You should drive if you're up Twissy. There are not 16 confirmed... so reserves might not show.

Right now there are 13 confirmed and 3 open slots.

@All -- don't forget the race is in my lounge.

Who is not on my friends list so how do I join?

I sent you a FR you just have to accept it. Hours ago.

EDIT: Just checked and you are on my list. I can see you are online now. If you don't see my lounge quit GT5, shut off PS3 and turn it on to refresh the list.

UPdate: 15 confirmed, 2 reserves. First reserve gets the spot.

Hope I'm not late...finding your room now wrp.

Jerome

OK, now we're 16 as Jump_Ace just came in the lounge.

Unless we get a no show, the event is closed. Litchi, if you are there you're on stand by.

yup, i just turn my PS3 on 👍

(just back from a live poker tournament where i finished 2nd, that was EPIC!!)

Just effing great! I got DC'd! Complete waste of my week practicing only to get screwed out of it all when I was doing well!

Fun race, but that car and I don't get along at all whatsoever. But that's why I wanted to race, work on my weaknesses and all. Thanks WRP for a killer event!

That stinks we all know and most of us have been there. But don't re-enter the lounge to tell us you got DC'd... we all saw the message. Totally fine to have a rant in the thread though... understand the frustration... unfortunately it's part of this type of game... kind of like a blown engine in a real race.

Nothing you can do, but come back strong next week. All the practice wasn't a waste if you take the skills with you. And make practice fun so the journey is enjoyable and not just the destination. OK, my sensei moment is over.

Glad you could join us Jerome. Come back for more any time.

Having 16 in the lounge with mics-disabled makes it a bit slower and more difficult to manage... I have to be short at times to keep things somewhat on schedule... but I think it went OK. Normally we have 8-10 in the NA races, qualify in one group, have mics for quick communication and things go quickly.

But it's always great fun to have full rooms to... Not complaining one bit!

PS> This car was definitely awkward... it was like wrestling a boat at times... but it was pretty fun in the end. Have to say I'm pleasantly surprised as any race with 16 drivers at Madrid can be total chaos.

PPS> @All... be easy on the race director the next couple weeks in my absence... easiest way to help is to come to the event knowing exactly what the procedures are, etc.

Nice race again guys. Good job Tim and Tidgney on the podiums.

It's great to race in a full room with great people! Thanks to all for coming out .
