Hi Gentlemen, I've signed up for this great looking event and have had the pleasure of racing with some of you on previous occasions. I just need to practice now. 👍

Finally got around to getting Bob to get all four cars at peak HP:

Audi - MILES – 195.3 / 540hp / 547pp
Ford GT - MILES –188.6 / 577hp / 575pp
Lexus - MILES–143.7 / 576hp / 548pp
Ferrari - MILES – 149.7 / 588hp / 565pp

Are the HP numbers people getting at full break in?

Close, but a bit more driving to go 👍
200 miles / 320 kilometres is basically the benchmark for a fully broken in car.

OP
Course & Car Settings
(All car specs listed below are at stock trim after oil change and full break in. Tuning prohibited. S3 tires used for all races.)

  • Car: Audi R8 5.2 FSI Quattro '09
  • Performance Points: 547 PP
  • Power: 544 HP

  • Car: Ford GT '06
  • Performance Points: 574 PP
  • Power: 577 HP

  • Car: Lexus LFA '10
  • Performance Points: 549 PP
  • Power: 578 HP

  • Car: Ferrari 458 Italia '09
  • Performance Points: 566 PP
  • Power: 590 HP

Edit: Fwiw, 80 laps at the Indy 500 (B-spec endurance event) is roughly 200 miles / 320 kms. Just make sure to quit the race when your car is at 80 laps, not the lead car and you are fully broken in 👍

Dan, those numbers do not match my cars. I checked the OP and somehow my Audi managed to gain another single HP and is now sitting at 544 HP so I updated the details post.

Here's what I got and what the OP shows now. Note that these numbers are what you see in the garage. If you look at the settings screens these can vary by 1 HP sometime.

  • Car: Audi R8 5.2 FSI Quattro '09
  • Performance Points: 547 PP
  • Power: 544 HP
  • Weight: 1620 kg

  • Car: Ford GT '06
  • Performance Points: 574 PP
  • Power: 577 HP
  • Weight: 1451 kg

  • Car: Lexus LFA '10
  • Performance Points: 549 PP
  • Power: 578 HP
  • Weight: 1480 kg

  • Car: Ferrari 458 Italia '09
  • Performance Points: 566 PP
  • Power: 590 HP
  • Weight: 1485 kg

Note that the Lexus and Ferrari do not have 200 mi (more like 170) so those may pop up another HP which is probably what happened to the Audi. I used to think 150 mi was sufficient, but it's different for each and every car and it looks like 200 is required for every last ounce of power in some cars (but not all). Honestly, I could do without this break-in business... just a pain for no good reason.

EDIT:

Thanks Marc and Tim,

Thanks Marc and Tim,

Thanks Marc and Tim,

Damn! 200 it is! Hello, BOB!

At this point you are close enough to just practice... run online, but use race mode (not free run) and you'll break in the car the final couple HP. At the same time learning the track/car.

Or do a few laps offline in practice mode with the ghost just to get an idea of the lines that work best for you before switching to online. All laps there will count and you'll get a little ghost work before moving online... of course grip will be lower online, but the ghost will still help a bit.

I edited my post above.....and you're right, best to let Bob rest for the remainder of the day. :sly:

I had this strange experience once that the distance driven during that event did not "stick", i.e. the car was still at 0km after I quit the race. I quit the race while the car was in the pits, so I figured that was the reason.

Confirmed... if you run the B-spec Indy 500 to break in a car (and I always do) and quit while the car is in the pits you lose all the miles... crazy, but confirmed by both myself and Lucas. Wait until your car is on track and the mileage counts.

Break in is around 300km I believe. I bought the 4 cars and got them painted but I'm not sure if I would be able to participate.

I'll probably stick to the weekly races for a few weeks before I go for the special events until I'm fully comfortable racing online for longer distances.

I'm running the R8 around Nürburgring if anyone wants to Main Lobby.

I think I settled on the colors for my cars. :D Was fun running laps with you last night, Scott. 👍

Damn, my Lexus is now at 580hp......at 234.2 miles. So I guess you never know about the break-in point. :indiff:

These races are actually a bit shorter than our weekly events. You are welcome to sign up and run the first half and if you are not up for the 2nd half just drop or watch... You've got to try the Audi @ Nurb GP/D though... great car/track.

Plus give the live quali format a shot either way (even if you don't race)... good practice for the next special event... a lot of pressure having to do those hot laps and only one shot alone on track with an observer... but it gets easier each time you do it.

Ditto on the live quali. 👍 My first one was the 908@Spa and I was literally shaking from the nerves. The 2nd one in the 787B@Laguna was a little better, still a little shakin' goin' on. But this weekend with the R8@Nurb, I felt like Ice Man. Must have been my new color combo.

The practice I participated in just now took any concerns I had away completely.

I'm guessing each of the 4 cars are run completely stock, with the oil change?
