Despite sending these 2 people multiple messages, I have recieved responses from neither of them. I can only assume they have gone AWOL and won't be taking any further part in this tounrament.

I'll deal with all of that as the round finishes up. It's clear who is participating and who is not. That will be taken into account as decisions are made in regard to who progresses to the next round. 👍

Winner: GTP_Synwraith

Thanks Maz, for doing the writeup. 👍

Yep, I knew even after making some good improvement to my pace over the weekend that I was going to have my hands full. I was counting on 2 things -

1. Staying in your slip :dopey:
2. Having you make a mistake (And a pretty big one) :sly:

You managed to break the tow on lap 3 of the first race, and I hung on until lap 5 of the second race. Seems your setup gave you a better spoon exit, which was the culprit in my losing the tow both times. :ouch:

Faster won this time, which is probably right. :)

Thanks Phil, for doing the writeup. Not much to say on my end. Thanks for delaying the race while I was doing GT4 LAN last weekend. I had a bit of trouble adjusting to the Lancia after running the F430 for the past couple of days. I was able to hang in there in the last race, for a bit, but then I started pushing to try and catch up, and the Lancia penalizes you for that. :grumpy:

A couple of other things.

I raced Fuzzy yesterday morning as well. No need for a long writeup. He had a 2 second pace advantage on laptime. We were on a small grid, with 2 other cars and got matched right off. The only thing that made the race remotely interesting was that 1 of the 2 other cars (Tuned Evo X) decided to semi punt Fuzzy in 200R on lap 4. Fortunately, the Evo then took himself off at Spoon, and I allowed Fuzzy to maintain first place, since he had a significant lead before the punt cost him 5 seconds or more. And I wanted to avoid having to do a re-race with all the matching and connection issues I've seen the last couple of days. He was able to pull back out to a significant advantage by the end of the race. Not only was he faster, but the F430 does not really grab much slip off of the GT-R. :nervous:

Finally, I've updated the Schedule and Standings thread with everything I have for results via PM or this thread. So, if I've missed anything, or messed anything up, please PM me. 👍

Thanks for all the support of the event thus far. And did anyone ever hear of letting the boss win a couple? :sly:

GTP_Fuzzy (Nissan GTR) Vs GTP_DukeOfPendle (Ferrari F430)

Winner - GTP_DukeOfPendle

Well, where do I start. First off, this was a big match because if one of us lost we were out of the tournament. The winner would progress to Stage 3. So then on to the race report.
I started on pole and Phil was P2. I had a very bad start and Phil had a good start, we both were side by side aheading into the first corner, who would lift off first ?
It was Phil, and I sweeped round Phil in the first corner. I gradually started pulling away from Phil, all I had do was dont make a mistake and the race would have been mine. The turning point was mid race, I had a nice healthy lead over Phil and all of a sudden, I made a big error coming out turn 2, went totally wide and spun off big time. However, I had a healthy lead so I was let off the hook. I regained to the track, but Phil passed me as I slowly recovered back onto the track.

Phil in lead with me slowly catching up, I knew I had too knuckle down after my mistake.
I caught up to Phil and the next two laps had everything. Me trying too pass Phil, Phil defending like mad. The only place were I could pass Phil was on the home straight going into the first corner. Lap 7 or 8, we was coming down the home straight I new I had Phil, Phil was defending, he pulled too right I took a big gamble, he left the smallest gap for me to get through. I passed him, but went too deep into the first corner and I spun off again.
I was gutted, the last two laps were painful, couldn't concentrate. Phil strolled home, while I was strolling home seeving.

For me, as much as I dont want to say it, I bottled it bigtime tonight. Well done to Phil on progressing to Stage 3. And also, I want to say a big thank you to Kevin and other GTP Race Admins for these wonderful tournaments we participate in. 👍

Great write-up Fuzzy 👍
From my point of view it was an entertaining race.
I could see from early on that you had a speed advantage over me, so I kept plodding round, keeping it safe in the hope that you would make a mistake.
As you said, going wide after turn 1 gave me an opportunity. I knew I had to drive defensively, so I took the inside line along both of the straights. I reasoned that, if you were coming past, it would have to be the long way round.
Fortunately for me, my cunning plan paid off.
You are a great competitor, Fuzzy, and it must have been difficult for you to take it on the chin in the mature manner you demonstrated. 👍

GTP_MJH vs GTP_JvM
Winner: GTP_JvM

We had our Lancia race tuesday. It was a bit late since Matt was on holiday last week.

Race 1:
Matched in the same race on the first try. Matt on the pole and we went away. I got a bit faster start and was first in turn 1. I was ahead until the mainstraight and I decided to pit right away. My pit entrance was awful. :dopey: Lost some time there. And the out lap wasn't very nice either. So when Matt pitted on lap 2 I was a bit behind him when he came out, but still just within the slip. Changed postitions every lap. I was ahead on last lap and the finishing countown went on in the middle of the lap. Managed to keep it on the track without bigger mistakes, countdown ended after 2nd to last corner and I was ahead. 1-0 for me then.

Race 2:
Me on pole this time. Kept the lead into turn 1. Pitted again on 1st lap, Matt right behind me, almost touching me when I went into pits, forgetting I had to brake a little there. :D A bit better pit entry this time. Out lap was ok. But so was Matt's. He pitted on 2nd lap again too and when he came out we were on turn 1 about neck and neck. After the apex I managed to go past on the inside having a bit more speed. Again traded positions everytime on the mainstraght. Lap 4 mainstraight we got a not-so-fair Subaru in our way. I managed luckily overtake Matt into the turn 1, still the Subaru ahead of us. I got some trouble from the subaru in the chicane, and so did Matt, causing him a penalty. :( So got a little lead over Matt there. Still the Subaru trying every trick on me. Kept away from the Sub ahead of me in the last corners and the countdown finished at the start of the mainstraight. 2-0 For me.

Was nice racing with you Matt. 👍 I was lucky this time. Better luck for you next time mate. :)
Hope to see you at the track soon again.

Would also like to thank EDK who accidently was in our races and immediately spotted what was going on and parked to spectate the races. Thanks for that bud. 👍

GTP_MeAgainstYou v GTP_Timeattack
winner: me

after a few tries to find a good connection without so much lag... we decide to run it even with a bit of lag.. this was really hard because TA started from pole and as his car was jumping back and forward on my nose.. so i couldn't understand where he really was and i didnt want to touch him :ouch: i was able to pass him around 3rd lap i think... and that was it... after that he lost it at 130R and i found him on the main straight stopped, i stopped too... we went to the chat (still on lap 6) and i thought to re-race but he didnt want to.. so we decide to continue only for fun until the end :P

thanks for racing

GTP_Animera vs GTP_MJH

Matt got back from his holiday and we agreed to run our 2 races today.
There's not too much to say about the AM Vette race. Matt totally annilihated me as I just could not get to grip with the car.
The F430 race was much better. Our first race saw me build a lead up to lap 8, but then the host disconnected.
The second race was just the 2 of us and an S2000 on the grid. The S2000 decided to wait for us and then gave us a really hard time when we tried to pass him. Luckily he made a mistake later in the lap and we both got past on lap 2, and could start our race properly. On lap 3 Matt passed me down the straight, and touched my right bumper when he returned to the racing line, sending me spinning off turn 1. He waited (thanks Matt 👍 ) and we resumed our race. From there it was a cracking race with the two of us racing side by side through turns, and swapping the lead all the time. On the last lap I was leading with Matt right behind me up to the chicane. He cut the chicane and got a penalty, and I won by 4s.

Thanks for the races Matt
Good luck with the rest of the competition.

Thanks to JvM and Animera for some great racing. Congratulations to your wins over me and good luck in your future races.

Matt.

GTP_Animera vs GTP_JvM
Winner: GTP_JvM

Ian had a busy racing night today. :D I met him and Matt in the chat with nice timing since they had just ended their races about the same time I joined. :) So I took a couple warmup laps and then we went for it.

After the matching was done I noticed that I was the host and there was only one empty slot available and I was thinking DAMN come on! Bring Animera there! It took a bit long so I was afraid it will fail again, but it didn't and then we got a private race for ourselves. :) Very lucky on that one. 👍

Race:
We couldn't start straight away since I was on pole so we had to change positions. Then we started on the usual 30s mark. I got a tiny bit better start and had my nose few inches ahead of Ian into the first corner. Ian followed me the whole lap 1 and then overtook me on the mainstraight. Unluckily, he braked maybe a bit too late and went wide a bit into the sand in turn one. :ouch: From that on it was a real chase match. I had about 1.5s lead after that and I was thinking, "ok ok.. drive fast, don't make a mistake.. concentrate... drive fast..ish.. don't freaking make a mistake!!" :dopey: That maybe kept me a little under the regular unpressured pace. I was damn nervous atleast until the halfway of the race. :nervous: I managed to avoid doing any bigger mistakes, and so did Ian. The gap went bigger sometimes and smaller sometimes. On lap 7 or so I saw the gap was slightly bigger that it was on the first laps. I managed to keep it together until the end. A very nice consistant drive from Ian aswell 👍 All the time in the attacking distance. One mistake from me and it would have been a different story. :scared:

Was a pleasure racing with you as always Ian. Was an enjoyable race.

Congrats Ian and Matt on your wins. :D Hope to see you soon at the tracks again. 👍

Thanks JvM. After that mistake of mine I was struggling to try catch you again. I'd make up a tenth in one sector and then lose it the next.
Well done on the win, it was a great race even though there wasnt any side by side racing, and you were just too quick for me to get back into the draft. I was hoping that you would make a small mistake so I could get back into the race again, but you were too good. 👍

Bad luck Animera, you still did well to get this far and put in a galant effort.👍

Gladiators or what, sounds like these battles in the 4 groups are something else, who need Formula 1.

Congratulations Jukka, congrats also to Ian and Matt, there’s nothing between the gladiators at this stage more a case of who holds the nerve better on the day.

Well done guys.

Phillip.

GTP_MeAgainstYou v GTP_Timeattack

This race I was looking forward to watching, a fight of two titans from Div 1 plus I was Host too, I thought nothing could be better, unfortunately they had lag so was unable to continue. They tried again this time I was not host but still the same lag.

Third time they said we race and so they did, I parked in the Sand at the end of the straight and watched the start, TA on pole and may in 2nd they ran down to T1 Brock on the outside and Bruno on the inside almost side by side, Ta closed the door on May and he had to back off. You could see that things were not quite right, as it turned out not only lag but Brock’s wheel setting were a miss, Ta pulled up by the pits where I was parked, Bruno came round and parked and said re-race, but like the Gent and Sportsman that Brock is he conceded the win to Bruno.

Well done guys I look forward to your next encounter.

Phillip.

Wow, that sounds like a fantastic night's racing

Congratulations to Jukka (T&L forever!!) and Matt for victories in style over a now-D1 driver, and congratulations to Ian for fighting back and taking a well-fought victory against Matt in a car he's always been great in.

This group's going to go all the way to the wire

Well done to Bruno also for beating Brock, comiserations Brock. You WILL be back.

All the best

GTP_Marooned vs GTP_Eriba.

Winner GTP_Marooned.

Haitham drove a fantastic race from start to finish, me on pole Haitham in 2nd Haitham got a blistering start off the line and was about 1 to 1.5 seconds in front by the time we rounded the first corner, making no mistakes from what I could see on the map was slowly pulling away from me lap after lap.

I on the other hand did not, using my new wheel despite putting in the odd high 2’06 on one or two laps in the first 5 laps of the race, could not close the gap Haitham was opening, come lap 5 or 6 big mistake, touched the grass on the left on the home straight just after the last curve, lost the back end shot straight across and into the pit wall, race over.

Haitham was now some 20 seconds in front or more, by the end of the race best part of half a lap.

Well done Haitham.

Phillip.

Sorry guys I have to withdraw from championship, I will not drive GT untl GT5. :(

Sorry to all guys in my group :(

After a break, I'm back and running GT5P. Looking forward to the next event.:)
And a big thanks to all that sent me PM's.

:) Thanks a lot phillip for the nice words, well it wasn't that fantastic driving just a good start but at the S-curve you were back on my tail....TBH I was scared/afraid that I'll lose the tail of the car any moment...I tried building up and going slowly with one thing in mind...be carefull, I was talking to myself and saying "break early, and don't be hard on the gas at the exit" and you're pace gave me a panic until you lost it at degner-2 1st time, there i started building the gap...but there was this other car on the track he punted me twice, 2nd time i was off the track...

Thanks a lot Phillip for the race, I know if it was any other car not the AM you would have won :sly:

Haitham

The Opera 350Z is a fantastic car, and should be mental at Fuji, great work Kev 👍

Any chance we can have one of the weeks at Suzuka in the 512? :D

Just to inform Duke of Pendle, JvM and PASM, I will be away from August 7th to 17th so weeks 2, 3 and 4 will all have to be after the 17th for me. Many apologies for the inconveniece guys, I hope it doesn't cause too much grief. Also PASM, that will mean we have to get our race done in the next 3 days please, check your PM 👍

All the best
Maz

Yeah, great job on the car choise Kevin 👍.

I don't have to work for 3 weeks now, so I'll have lots of time to do the runoff races and my week 1 race, if I advance :).

Just one question, you have downforce as N/A on the car options, should that be optional or we're not to use downforce, i.e. min levels?

Just one question, you have downforce as N/A on the car options, should that be optional or we're not to use downforce, i.e. min levels?

In effect, the downforce is pretty much fixed if you want to run at minimum weight. Everything has to be maxed (power, min weight, tyres) with the rear aero at 13 in order to reach 700PP.
So no choice in the matter, Paulie. 👍

Vehicle Specifics:

Say 700pp so i presume we have to do what ever it takes to get 700pp

Yes, you must be at 700PP, and as Phil said, it's pretty much dictated how to get there. The car just barely makes it to 700PP.

But to minimize confusion, I changed downforce to "Optional". Even though it's really not all that optional. :sly:

GTP_mad94d Vs GTP_Racer_LP

(run off race)

I nearly jumped with joy when I saw it was just us two in the race with Stijn hosting. We still waited 30 seconds as I needed to get to my pole spot.;)

Stijn got the jump and led into turn 1, I closely followed the entire lap and passed him on the way into the chicane. I stayed in front up until the last corner where I peeled off into the pits. I made a great pit entrance and exit. I knew I needed a good outlap to win it. I missed the apex at Turn 4 costing myself some tenths and then I broke too late into the chicane and the gearing of the car made the car bog down massively. Two large mistakes which would've cost me at least 0.6. I was kicking myself, Stijn was now out to a 6 second plus lead. I followed him trying to close the gap, by lap 4 I was 5.7 seconds behind and then I peeled off for my second stop, I hit the wall slightly on pit entry, luckily it only cost me about 0.5 (it hurt my run through the pits...). I came out and had a better outlap but it still wasn't ideal. I now just had to push hard. Stijn did back to back stops a lap or two later. I was doing high 39's which I knew was fairly good, but was it going to be enough to beat him out of the pits.... I saw him come in for his 2nd stop and I knew it should be close, but it wasn't, I passed him mid way down the mainstraight leaving him 2.1 seconds behind. I knew all I had to do was hold it to the end, even with my legs shaking so much I could barely control the pedals.:scared: I did a 1'39.799 on Lap 8 and high 39's which actually extended my lead a little. I won the race by just over 3 seconds in the end.:)

(Stijn said he messed up his pit entry to his 2nd stop which cost him 1.5 seconds, a crucial factor to deternmining the race. He could've come out right behind me and it would've been extremely close to the line.)

Thanks Stijn, thoroughly enjoyed that race. Super close speed wise, just unfortunate you made the slight pit mistake. Better luck next time and good luck in your future races.

Great write up, mad 👍. I've got nothing else to add to it.

I enjoyed it too. Always fun to race against you . Thanks and good luck to you too 👍 (we'll both need it in our next runoff race :nervous:).
