Hey guys, I've decided to withdraw from this event.

I had planned to a few days ago, but I thought I'd give Week 2's combo a shot and see how I got on anyway. I found my feet with it very fast, using timeattacks tune and got down to a 1'50.1xx. I then saw TLD's tune and got down to a 1'49.5xx and in the last race I did proved consistency with the 3 last laps at 1'49.8xx on my own.

Unfortunately, totally missed by me and kindly pointed out by EDK to me in a PM today, he reminded me that my opponent (GTP_L_Hamilton) is NTCC and with me being PAL, we couldn't race this combo.

As some of you know, I am now into rFactor up and running with my shiny new gaming PC. I won the last race and the two before that and because it's a new track every week, it requires a lot more testing time than GT5p does. I also run an arcade time-trial champs on pistonheads.co.uk of which, I really enjoy because it's a friendly UK based champs that's pretty low-key and everyone else is on my level. This also has a new combo every week.

On top of this, I'm moving out on August 10th for the first time with my girlfriend and things can be tense in such moments. No drama yet, but play time is reduced due to extra shopping, research, discussions etc. This also comes at a time when work is really busy (which is a good thing) but it means I am generally more tired when getting home in the evenings now.

Worst of all, me and Kezia (my girlfriend) have to share my TV. She's good enough as it is at the moment, as I send her home on Monday nights when it's rFactor time...and she has to go downstaires with my parents when I have a GTP race lol!

I feel if I keep up with the GTP Event 03, I believe it's not only going to affect my performance with this champs, it'll have a knock on effect with my rFactor and my pistonheads time-trial champs.

So, sorry to GTP_L_Hamilton, GTP_Hyperspeed and GTP_Stotty.

Good luck to all and like it or not, it's not the last you'll see of me. The 10th of August, will mean I can commence with the "2nd bedroom" that has already been named "the gaming room" with 100% support from my girlfriend.

I will hang around though and I'll stick at the Lancia for this week as it provides fantastic racing. Reminds me of the M3 @ Fuji combo...Fuji always deliveres :)

Cheers, Ian

I've added the following to the rules for the Stage 2, week 2 Details -

"For the division 1-3 combo, the drivers will alternate the number one grid position. The driver on the right will take number one position in the second race. If a third race is required, the driver on the left will resume the first position."

Good luck to everyone. 👍

GTP_Stotty v GTP_Hyperspeed

GTP_Hyperspeed 2-0

First Race

Dan led away from pole and I followed him round to the chicane on lap 1 where I missed 1st gear on the entry and he got a bit of a lead. Coming on to the main straight Dan pitted and I carried on. Laps 2-3-4 were without incident and the gap between us remained contant until I pitted on lap 4. Coming out of the pits I'd obviously run slightly quicker intermediate laps as I managed to get out of the pits ahead going in to turn 1 on the final lap. I led over the remainder of the lap, pulling out a gap of about 5 car lengths going in to T3.

I needed to push hard through T3 and try and get enough of a lead to stop Dan drafting me on the run to the line, but I couldn't pull out enough, and he pipped me by 0.04s.

Race 2
Dan on pole again (as he didn't know it was alternate poles!). He led away from the line and lap 1 was incredibly close with me sat on his bumper the entire time. Coming on to the main straight I passed him and took a 5 or so car length lead in to turn 1, which Dan gradually clawed back over the rest of the lap. I pitting as I came along the main straight on lap 2 and I rejoined with Dan about 5 seconds in front. An uneventful lap followed until Dan pitted at the end of lap 3. I thought I was going to get the lead, but having to take the outside line allowed Dan to come out of turn 1 in front. I passed Dan on the main straight at the end of lap 4, and again, took a 5 car length lead out of turn 1.

I maintained the lead over the rest of the lap, again trying to get enough of a lead to prevent Dan drfting me to the line... but in wasn't quite enough, and he pipped me by 0.004 at the line

Congratulations to Dan... 2 very close races!

Thanks for the races and the write up bud, wasnt much in it was there. Always good close racing you mate.

Well done to you Dan, and comiserations to Stotty. Ian, sorry to hear you're withdrawing but yeah when I moved it took forever to get comfortable enough to play GT5P regularly again.

Three excellent GB racers right there

All the best

GTP_MeAgainstYou vs GTP_aussienicko
race results:
0-1
1-1
2-1

race1:
a race with many mistakes by both racers... green areas (some of those to catch the slipstream... btw.. 1!=plenty ;) ) .. wrong pit entry (my fault only discovered the interior lines of the pits on the 2nd race) .. a crash before 1st hairpin which we were really close then i hit nick... waited and then when i still waiting he went for the lead without mercy with a second advantage :odd: i asked for a re-race due that and all the issues.. but that victory seamed most important in the end :(

race2:
a completely different race... very good one.. close race until the end where i took the lead for the last corners and nick was on the slipstream but not enough to catch me.. this was the type of race i was expecting.. very hot 👍

race 3:
another amazing race... he pitted on the the 2nd lap, me on 4th lap but we were side by side on the 1st corner of lap5 :scared: i thought OMG whos gonna be the luckiest in the end :dopey: we made the hairpins very close with me on front.. we went for the straight still very close and we finished with 003 for me :embarrassed:  :dopey:

that was hard.. good driving nick

O man! What a series of races!

Nice try, GTP_aussienicko.

Yet another win for MAY.

GTP_MeAgainstYou vs GTP_Racer_LP
race results:
0-1
0-2

race1:
great race, close until the pits.. after the pits we were close again in the same positions (he's in front) then i was preparing for my move (at least try it) and puf.. game over, times runs off on the hairpins :(

race2:
again great race, pretty much the same.. i was pushing harder but useless... Stijn pushed too.. and we were again at lap5 with him in front again... i wasnt able to pass him before the hairpins.. so the tipical move was waiting for me :grumpy: Stijn make the last corner like nothing was happening... and we reached the line almost side by side..

ooooh i lost :( ..im still assimilating/digesting this lost.. :( :ouch: i need to find an excuse for this lost.. :sly: hum let me see.. will i complain about the car!? track!? or slipstream!? or...

ill just shut up! well deserved wins Stijn, you won both, you were better 👍 great races as usual...

Not much to add to this, really.

In the first race we had some trouble with a GT-R in the middle of the race. I overtook him in the long righthander, but I think Bruno lost just a bit more time because of him. Won't be that much more though. I waited to pit till the start of the last lap cause I didn't wanna be near the GT-R again, came out just in front of Bruno and then kept him behind me till the end of the 30 sec countdown :).

We didn't have any traffic in the 2nd race. Bruno pitted at the end of the first lap, I waited 1 lap and pitted on lap 3. The pitstops didn't change anything though, we were close before them and close again after I made my stop.
Like Bruno said I was leading on the final lap, had an awesome exit out of the final corner and crossed the line just in front of him.
I didn't get to see the time difference as the 30 sec countdown ended just after we crossed the line, but it probably wasn't more than 0.01 sec.

Thanks for the races Bruno, I enjoyed them, and good luck in the rest of the event 👍

Zujo 19/MatejH - You've had 2 PM's from me during the course of last week. Any chance of a response please mate ?

Division 2 Group 1
GTP_Animera vs GTP_Pasm

Race1: It was only the 2 of us in the race, but we waited 30s as we had to swap grid positions. Pasm got the lead into turn 1 and I followed him. We swapped positions down the straight and I pitted at the end of lap 2. The next 2 laps were uneventful and PASM pitted at the end of lap 4, coming out just in front of me. I followed him for lap 5 and tried to get the slip to the line, but he held on for the win.

Race 2: We had a mismatch, but then got into a race with other racers. This time PASM had pole and again lead into turn 1 with me following. PASM pitted first and after I had pitted I had a nice lead that I kept to the end of the race as the timer ran out. PASM told me afterwards that he had made a mistake that gave me the lead.

So it was 1 - 1.

Race 3: I had pole but again PASM beat me to turn 1 and I had to follow him through lap 1. PASM pitted and I drafted him to the pit entrance that gave me a very nice run down the main straight, and after I pitted a lap later, I exited with a small lead. PASM was pretty close behind me, but outbraked himself down at the chicane, and that gave me a gap that I maintained till the race timer ran out.

Thanks for the races PASM and good luck for the rest of the event.

Great write-up MAY. 👍

I think aside from the first race it was a very heated and close last 2 races, I really enjoyed myself and had a great time battling with a racer such as yourself. The final was certianly the closest race and the finish was superb, and as always the best racer comes out on top! So congrats to you MAY, and good luck in your future races.

Congrats MAY, Animera and Racer_LP. Bad luck to Nick, PASM and MAY(two races:lol:).

GTP_RPM

Ian, good luck to you and Kezia for the future, hope everything goes well in August for you both, look forward to seeing you back on racing soon.

GTP_mad94d[AU] Vs GTP_aussienicko[AU]
Winner: GTP_mad94d 2-0

Just before the race(20 minutes), I noticed that Chunkee's Choones had a Lancia tune. I went and did a 5 lap race against Maz and it worked beautifully. So with almost no testing I decided to use it for the races against Nick.:D:lol: It was a bit of a risk but a risk that paid off.

Race 1
There was only 3 people in the race, the other person was GTP_Paulie.;) He started and drove off down to the run-off area at turn 1 to watch. At 30 seconds Nick and I both nailed it with me getting the holeshot down to turn 1 with the different gearing. We came out of turn 1 side by side with Nick on the inside heading towards Turn 2. I lifted early, but so did he and there was nearly contact on turn in. We both came out fine and I was in the lead. Into the turn 4 braking zone I looked up into my mirror and saw Nick completely sideway on entry, I knew he had clipped the grass under brakes. This threw him wide of the apex and gave me about a 1 second lead. This turned out to be a deciding factor towards the race result. I pitted at the end of lap 1. I knew I needed to make the outlap count if I was going to win the race. I did, I nailed nearly every corner. This left Nick a big task. He went into the pits at the end of lap 2. and came out about 1.5 seconds behind. Now I just needed to do some free run laps and hold the margin. I was ever so slightly pulling it out by about 0.5+ seconds a lap. I ended up winning the race by just over 2 seconds.

Race 2
Nick from pole this time around and it was just us two in the race as Paulie failed to connect. We left on GO! again I made it down to turn 1 first. I managed to stay ahead on lap 1 and immediately pit at the end of the lap. I absolutely nailed the pit entrance and carried a lot of speed through the pits. I knew that could be the deciding factor. But once again, I knew a good outlap was vital. Once again I got the job done. Nick came out about 2 seconds behind. I steadily pulled the margin out to about 3.5 seconds across the line.

Thanks for the races Nick, always great racing you.👍 Bad luck tonight, you had really good pace. You were a bit unlucky in a way that I nailed both my outlaps in both the races. If I didn't you definetely had the pace to win. Good luck in your future races.

Congrats Mad, why did you change the gearing though?

Congrats Mad, why did you change the gearing though?

I found an extra burst of speed with the Chunkee Choone. I didn't use your tune in the race. But yours and his are very very similiar race pace wise. So I didn't change gearing on your tune, but I did for the other tune. But it didn't really cost me through turn 1, only place it was slower was Chicane exit. At least 0.2 slower there. But straight line speed/acceleration is better through turn 1, turn 4, final corner exit. So that makes up for chicane.

Thanks for a fantastic write-up Mad. 👍 You certainly had more speed tonight and it showed as you flew off into the distance! A very hard race for myself but once I lost your draft you were gone.

Well done on a fantastic win, and good luck for your future races.

What are you saying? My suspension, his gearing or his whole tune?

I feel betrayed and at a loss.:P

His whole tune.;) Well you gotta do what you've gotta do to win.👍 If that means using a different tune, I have to.:) I was actually going to try chunkee suspension, TLD gearing. I think that could work quite well. I still can before my timeattack race....

GTP_Fuzzy vs GTP_Synwraith
Winner: GTP Synwraith (2-0)

First of all, apologies to Fuzzy for bombarding him with requests to run this event earlier than the pre-agreed time. I had just grown a little tired of the Lancia after a week and wanted the race to be over. Not the right attitude and I apologise to you Fuzz for that 👍

Race 1

Fuzzy started on pole and we had one other car, a French WRX host who shot off at the start but parked off track and just watched the race from thereon in, very kind and much appreciated 👍

Fuzzy had a good 1st gear launch and shot off into the lead, I had reeled him in by the exit of turn 4 and we headed down to the chicane side by side, me on the outside. Fuzzy went a little deep and I tucked inside to take the lead into the uphill right-hander. I dived into the pits that first lap and proceeded to follow Fuzzy around at a distance of around 4 seconds I think. Fuzzy pit at the end of lap 2 and emerged a few seconds behind and out of draft. The rest of the race was uneventful as I steadily pulled out a bit each lap ending roughly 7 to 8 seconds ahead at the end.

Race 2

It was my turn to start on pole but I knew Fuzzy would get into turn 1 first with his launch gear. I was pretty close behind and we diced a little for the whole lap with a couple of nice side by sides. Neck and neck at the end of lap 1, Fuzzy pitted and I carried on. I thought with my slight pace advantage that I would come out ahead after my pit. I pitted next lap with a nice entry but came out behind Fuzzy by about 1.5 secs so his pit must have been much better.

I slowly reeled him in again and drafted past on the next lap but Fuzzy drafted back. I got ahead again by the chicane but Fuzzy had draft and tried a move down the inside. There was a slight tap but nothing untoward. I managed to stay ahead and just brought it home from there, managing to keep Fuzzy out of draft by pulling out a gap in T3. We didn't get to finish the race though as the time ran out on the last lap just before I got out of the last corner.

Thanks again to Fuzzy, a class act as always

The best of luck to you in your following races mate.

All the best

Congratulations Synwraith, bad luck Fuzzy and good luck to you both in your future races.

Spot on. Nothing much too say but you deserved it. I just wasn't settled with the car struggled to find any speed, and it showed in our races. Once again good luck in your upcoming races. 👍

GTP_mad94d Vs GTP_timeattack
Winner: GTP_mad94d (2-0)

Race 1
I started from pole and took the lead into turn 1. I opened up a little gap on the first lap and then pitted at the end of it. Made a good outlap and came out ahead of timeattack who pitted at the end of lap 2. I opened up a gap and held it to the finish.

Race 2
Timeattack from pole took the lead into turn 1. I stayed closely behind until turn 4 where I got a good exit and had a go into the chicane. I got him under brakes and opened a tiny gap. I pitted at the end of lap 1. My outlap was good but timeattack's in lap was superb and he came out right behind me. I lost his draft and slowly pulled away and held that gap to the finish.

Thanks for the races timeattack.👍 It should also be mentioned that due to the time zone issues between us he did this race at 7am with eyes half open and I did it at 12am with my eyes half closed. I'd like to thank you for doing it at such ridiculous hours of the morning.👍 Good luck in the future rounds of GTP_Race Event 03.

Not much to report here...Mad served me an royal a** whooping on a silver platter this morning...all the way from Australia!

Deciding on a reasonable race time for us was quite difficult, as I live in the US and Madison in Australia. I ended up having to wake up at 7 a.m. just to get a race in while Mad had to stay up until midnight :yuck: By waking up so early and racing just a few minutes later I really shot myself in the foot for our races. The entire race I couldn't find any type of pace and didn't have any motivation or focus whatsoever to really put in a strong performance :nervous: This was blatantly obvious by my lap times, as it seemed like I was out for a Sunday drive doing most laps in the low to mid 50 range 👎...almost a second off my usual pace.

Anyways, both races went without issue, with Mad pulling out a comfortable margin (several seconds) by the end of each race. That's about all there is to report...I won't needlessly sugarcoat a turd of a race  at least on my end :ouch: Good luck to you in your future Event 3 races Madison!

Edit: Someone get me out of D1G...I am not worthy :scared:

Brock, I know this probably doesn't mean much right now, as you are no doubt still smarting from your most recent loss, but take this little bit advice: just give it some time 👍 and don't sell yourself short so soon. You've only had the wheel for a little over a month now. I have no doubt that in another month or two, you will be better than ever. Your recent TT times and race pace are key indicators that you have become acclimated to the wheel at a very early stage. More than anything your race pace consistency is going to improve dramatically over the next few weeks as you gain experience with the wheel.
