Congratulations to Stijn, Maz and Stotty. Good luck to those who were less lucky, for the next rounds.

GTP_Synwraith vs GTP_EDK
Winner: GTP_Synwraith

Thanks for the writeup, Maz. I think you pretty well covered it from your perspective. From mine, I was lucky to only be punted severely by boldoplay in the Lotus. But he got me good on the first one, putting me into the sand at Degner 1. And the second time, he was stopped at Dunlop and swerved in front of me at the last second when I went to take evasive maneuvers.

But in the end, as I told you, the difference in our race time was my own spin in the esses. I'm not sure that would have happened if I had not been so frustrated by all the punting. But at the same time, I also know I would not have been able to lap in the low 1:04's without being in your tow on the first 6 laps.

You were faster in this one, I'll see you in 2 weeks. :mischievous:

You should just adopt our saying of the week, "%$#@&^* Lotus!!"

GTP_Racer_LP vs GTP_Timeattack

Watching their race got me thinking of putting a few words for other members that have not yet joined an event but would like to, it’s not all about the winning, but the taking part.

Thanks go to The Admin for their time and effort in putting together a great event.

Thanks to the Tuners, for the hours they spend painstakingly trying to tune out all the bugs in the cars for us to enjoy.

And thanks to all the combatants in round one and two so far, for making it an enjoyable event on track and off track.

Congratulations to the winners and commiserations to thaws who didn’t quite make it this round, It’s great fun reading the write ups of how these races unfold, even better when you join in as a spectator and watch knowing that these two gladiators are on the edge of their seats, with adrenalin pumping through their vanes. Their palms starting to sweat, their feet nervously twitching on the peddles. Praying they don’t spin out, or touch a back wheel on the grass just when they are braking for a corner in this, which is basically a drag car and was never meant for the likes of a demanding track like Suzuka.

Encountering back markers, trying desperately not to antagonise a guy in an Elise or Clio, do I past or hold back all of which adds to the excitement of the race, a look in the mirror and there is a Art Morrison closing down the gap, the image looming larger and larger every tenth of a second that goes by, you hold your breath and go for the pass like a true gladiator, then breath a sigh of relief when you come out the other side unscathed knowing, that your opponent has to do the same as you scamper off into the distance.

Good luck to all in their next rounds.

Phillip.

GTP_mad94d Vs GTP_MeAgainstYou
Winner: GTP_MeAgainstYou

We joined first go at :57 and I took the pole and led down into turn 1 with MAY all over my tail. MAY followed very closely applying the pressure, which eventually resulted in my messing up an exit at Casio chicane and May got me into Turn 1. I followed closely for a few more laps until I got a run down into turn 1. MAY pulled to the inside to cover his line and I darted to the outside with a a bit more speed due to the slipstream. I tried to go around the outside into turn 1 which resulted in me digging in the sand, I rejoined almost perfectly but I had dirty tyres which severely slowed me down through the esses which allowed MAY to take about a 2 second lead. But he caught a backmarker through 200R and passed him, but he covered into spoon and got nailed from behind and got sent way off the track. This called for a re-run since we'd already discussed what we'd do earlier in the GTP live racing chat.👍

Re-run
I again took the pole and led into turn 1. I led for a while and eventually MAY passed me. But MAY made a slight error through Degner 2 and went off into the sand which left me leading by around 1.5 seconds with 5 laps to go! Thoughts started creeping into my head such as "You could beat one of the fastest drivers in the world", "You could make it through your group", "Just no mistakes" and as soon as I thought all of those things I made a mistake at Degner and went off through the sand.:( I had thrown the race away while leading.(he was catching, but still not good to go off the track!) MAY now had a massive lead so I pushed hard and then went off at Dunlop Curve the next lap which resulted in an uncatchable lead.

Congratulations MAY, the better driver certainly won tonight.👍 Good luck in your future races.

Oh, so close, mad. Bummer.

Congrats to MAY.

Well done to all the winners and comiserations to the runners-up

It's kinda good to know that even the very best D1 drivers found difficulty in keeping this beast on the tarmac :D

Madison you did great to get into the position you were in, the win could easily have been yours 👍

All the best
Maz

great write up mad 👍

i think i just made a great save at Degner it could be worst :scared: and as things was rolling after that i think (if you didnt crash) the winner could be decided on the last laps and could be anyone of us..

another thing i want to say is that.... This 14 years old talent is turning into a MONSTER... and he will eat everything that cruise on his way... i cant believe how its possible to drive like that so soon...

thanks for the compliments guys

Congrats MAY, bad luck Mad. Div.1 battles are truly clashes of the titans.

Congrats to Stijn on his victory over me (again :scared:), as well as all of the other winners from this week  My sympathy goes out to all of the losers of course :guilty:

Anyways, I thought I'd post some video footage of my race with Stijn since I took the time to capture it. Not much too watch...but hey it's something :)

Race 1 (last 5 laps) - Ruined by outside interference on the last lap when Mr. Clio decided to get "racey" all of a sudden

Race 2 Re-run (I only captured footage up until my spin...not much to see after that :indiff:)

Thanks for posting them, Brock 👍. Always fun to see yourself drive from an other person's point of view :). Still a real shame we had that clio at the end of the first race. Either of us could have won it.

Good luck in your next races

Edit:

Just saw the specifics for week 2. Interesting car choise. And I haven't driven it yet, so will have to get used to it. At least I should be able to keep it on the road, unlike the AM corvette :D.

Thanks MAY.👍 You would've definetely caught me by lap 10, you were closing by around 0.5 a lap. So you would've caught me, but as the old saying goes "Catching is one thing, passing is another".

Thanks for the compliment MAY. I'd like to think i'm turning into a monster(sounds weird I know:lol:).:D

GTP_Fuzzy v GTP_DukeOfPendle

Race 1
Fuzzy on pole, but I got the jump at the start and led into turn 1. The order remained the same until the host dc'd as we were rounding Spoon, still on the first lap.

Race 2
Again I got the holeshot, as my car seemed slightly quicker off the line.
It was quickly apparent to me that Fuzzy had more sailing skills than me, and was capable of a faster pace. The first 3 laps were entertaining, with me driving defensively everywhere, and Fuzzy diving this way and that, to try to forge an opening. It is a great credit to him that he managed to avoid tapping my slow ass during these first 3 laps.
On the run down to turn 1 on lap 4 Fuzzy managed to get up the inside of me, even though I had positioned mid track to make it tricky for him.
The next couple of laps were run at a faster pace, with me desperately trying to hang on to the tow.
On lap 6 the inevitable happened, with me half spinning on the exit of Degner 2. This resulted in a lead of around 10 sec for Fuzzy.
At the start of lap 7 I noticed that the 10 sec gap had now become only around 4 secs. I guessed that Fuzzy must have had a "moment" too.
I pressed on, hoping to apply some sort of pressure which would lead to another mistake.
No further errors though, and Fuzzy carried the 4 or 5 second gap all the way to the finish of the race, and emerged the worthy winner.

Congratulations on your victory Fuzzy 👍, and good luck in your forthcoming races. :)

hey TA you're very calm.. you only said "****" during the crash... i dont think i could hang that much my words :ouch: bad luck... although i think that on the 1st race you're running on the Stijn slipstream... lucky you on that time...

mad sounds weird but its what you are turning into... im glad that i know you on this days :D and in the future i could say "hey guys.. i know him.. i've beaten that guy when he was 14 years old.. not anymore though" :D

Mainly laughing out how one of the top Division 1 Gold drivers thinks i'll beat him in the future, can't really see that happening.

 That time isn't that good. Still 0.5 off number 1, but I suppose they use the clutch so I get blasted down the straights.:(

you shouldnt tell me that.. thats an hold lap... i need to put my gloves then :sly:  👍

Tell you what? I didn't say anything.......... I was talking about the 2004 M3 from GT4, yeah yeah yeah.

 Yea I tried to keep my foul words to a minimum after spinning out ...I didn't want to have do a bunch of language editing afterwords :dopey:

In the first race it took me a few laps to really get into a rhythm during the race, being that it was only 7 a.m. for me and I had only done 3 warm up laps  I was sitting comfortably behind Stinj for pretty much the entire race, watching and waiting for him to possibly make a mistake. In the first race my goal was to sit behind him for most, if not all of the race and then make my move on the last lap exiting 130R, when it counts 👍 I'd noticed throughout the week that this car seems to be a bit hard to handle in a slipstream, so I tried to keep my distance in the corners and then use his slip to catch back up on the straight portions...which seemed to work just fine and was safer than pushing all out through the corners just so I could make a unnecessary pass on the straight. In the end I still think Stijn's pace was probably 2 tenths quicker than me on average in clean air, mostly due to how aggressive and consistant he was entering T1. Mad props goes out to Stijn for keeping this boat on the road as well as he did without any prior race practices

Damn, and I thought I was just faster in the first sector :ouch: :sly:.

Thanks mate, although I don't think I could have done it without JvM's tune. Thanks for posting it, Jukka

Congratulations and well done to all the week 1 winners, and better luck in the future rounds for those less fortunate in week 1. 👍

Thanks! I need all the luck I can get with my Group. :scared:

I've updated the standings thread this evening. 👍

Thanks to most of you for keeping up with your races in this tight schedule, and for putting up with the challenging week 1 combo. :)

I know about some vacations, etc., but those who are running behind, please work to get caught up.

I hope you're all enjoying your first laps in the Lancia. It might take some getting used to, but I find it to be a lot of fun.

Week 3, we'll end up back at Suzuka, in something more conventional. So you all have that to look forward to. :sly:

Kevin

As I said elsewhere, after some tuners got a hold of it and sorted it out for us, the Lancia is great fun to race at Fuji and I feel even non-event drivers will be joining us for that one. We had a few near-exclusive GTP grids yesterday as well.

Despite initial negativity I do apologise for not seeing it your way, the variety of cars and tracks is really bringing out different skills and plenty of interest for everyone. By the time GT5 comes out I will be able to say I truly played prologue to death and tried everything.

Cheers for the excellent work you put into this Kev and Jack 👍

EDIT: I just read the specifics again Kev and there's one thing I would like clarified: Do we alternate who starts on pole position or does the name on the left start from pole in all races this week?

All the best
Maz

Brake balance on TLD Lancia changing to 3/9 instead of 2/9.👍
