I much prefer the events where you are given a car and drive it without tuning. That said, I'm not about to complain about any events that require tuning - others enjoy them - I will just opt not to run that week, simple.

That's pretty much what I do 👍

Jerome

You are welcome Barra 👍

Hope you'll enjoy it :sly:

Thanks Wayne. The WRS looks to be one of the best ways to give this game some longevity and to expose us to car/track combos we wouldnt normally use

Definitely looking forward to having a go at this. Just have to get around to setting up a GTP_ account (not a dig at the organisation of it, just my laziness).

Another Aussie 👍

Welcome mate

Anyone else struggling with the lack of a ghost? I've tried picking points on the track to give me an idea of my time but thats hardly precise.

I'm in agreement with DOUQA here - I think the spirit of what he was saying involves the lack of being able to use your own ghost. Many times I won't realize that I'm taking a turn incorrectly until I actually crush my own ghost and notice there is a much better way. Would be nice to have that opportunity here because I think most drivers get into a rut and keep doing the same thing over and over again each lap. Not having a ghost is almost like telling people to not bother being creative because you aren't going to know if it really helps or not this time.

Yes, using a ghost is a very unrealistic way of improving your time. It can be honed to an art form in itself, and I am happy that it is not possible here. the individuals last .2 can only be found with using a ghost so this will even things a bit I think. It's resfreshing , even if I haven't even tried the qualifier yet.. (still training my boobs to get me a chance to go to Germany :P)

Watching an aliens ghost is always nice, trying to chase it is futile for the likes of me, and to be painfully honest I still don't understand 90% of how you drive even after I watch the replay. :sly:

Its funny how most of us are trying so hard for this qualifier when the times will never be posted . Will the list be published in "fastest to slowest"? or you just get put in a division and the list be in alphabetical order?

I must say though, I think its a good combo choice from the admin, Its technical but not frustrating and the car handles quite well. Really am quite happy with it 👍.

@ LinPark
Learning to experiment and judge for yourself the best way around a set of corners without the help of your ghost is a skill that will help you a lot in real time racing and make you much faster earlier. It also guarantees more time towards running the combo a "better" way rather than spending hours doing it "wrong". I find it is easy to get stuck in a rut, but its important to try something new. You never can never know the right way until you have found the wrong way . I always like this little phrase.. "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and wishing for a different result".

Funniest typo ever!! I had to read it a few times to understand the context

Timo has a great set of boobs, really quite experienced and used to being pushed.

Are Timo's BOOBS natural,or are they 'blown up' to have better performance by a race doctor??....

:sly:

spy.

I would guess Timo likes to "tune" his boobs. Their heightened level of awareness would improve their performance drastically.

Very funny indeed to talk about Timo's racing boobs, but please get back on topic. ;)

Do not discuss privately or post publicly any of your splits or final times, or anything relating to this qualifier that would indicate a sector time or a full lap time.

So we can discuss settings (like usual).

I have not spend a lot of time on the Nurburgring, sadly enough.
I decided to learn the 2 sections, with the aids off; except for ABS on 1 (otherwise, while learning, I hugged the railing too many times).

I guess it would be better to use TCS 10, if this is faster (allowing earlier throttle), even if it is against your principles. It is a qualifier and getting the fastest "legal" time is the goal, not to be the most pure driver.

So I'm interested what are the settings that give you the fastest times (section 2 and 3 separate)?

Not having a ghost is almost like telling people to not bother being creative because you aren't going to know if it really helps or not this time.

Getting creative is how I shaved 3 tenths off my previous best in sector 3 this arvo, although I agree having a ghost makes it easier.
I'll be very surprised if I reach D1 straight away.

For me it is all aids off (except ABS on 1). I haven't tried it with any of the aids on, so I don't know if it will make a difference for the good or the bad. What I did notice, is that it is a good thing to keep off the high curbs. Just hugh them, because the road has some extra camber there, which allows for faster speed through those corners.

I only use ABS 1. I'd be suprised if you are faster with TCS. In my experience TCS makes you MUCH slower.

I'm using a 5/8 brake setting for all but the final right hander in sector 2. Haven't really played on sector 3 much yet but I think I'm approaching my limit on 2.

Oh and Mignun, I'm guessing crazy?

Have a question. The only way I can record a WRS event is on my iPhone & only way I can send it, as I have no mail accounts linked on my iPhone, is via YouTube! Would that be suitable or is there another way??

You have to save your replay to a memory stick. Load it to a PC. Compress it with winzip and PM it to the relevant person. Only in the event that you finish in the top 10 of a division.

You have to provide a replay and not a video so the person checking can choose their own views, check its the right event settings, etc.

very interested to know how your changing brake bias when you can't change any car settings lol.

Last time, a protected Registry Forum was opened with a password and everyone was given that password once they were given a Division in the Registry - inside that forum was a thread that listed the times in fastest to slowest - that was for the original F430 @ Suz GT5:P Qualifier and I was just looking at it the other day with some other members.

Timppaq had the best time (not sure if it was before he tuned his boobs or not). That was done under Spec II and when Spec III came out it greatly altered the racing physics so the old qualifier was done away with. I'm not sure if that is why the times were published - I'm really hoping the admins do something like this again because I'm anxious to see the times for this qualifier but given that they intend to stick with the same format for awhile I'm not really sure they are going to publish things out for all to see.

Also, if the only way to know how do something right is to do it wrong first then brother let me tell ya, I am BEYOND PRIMED to do it right!

very interested to know how your changing brake bias when you can't change any car settings lol.

He is using the little red knob on the DFGT to adjust Brake Bias realtime during the lap.

Hang on - surely if the clutch is banned because it can give you an advantage if you have access to one, then this should also be banned. Does this not give someone with a DFGT a potential advantage over someone who does not have one ??

I'm sure this was discussed at length elsewhere but I believe the consensus was that the clutch is a bug and the red knob is a feature. :sly: Apologies if I oversimplified that lengthy discussion or completely misunderstood the entire topic.

You can also map the RA settings to DS3 and G25/27 iirc.

I've mapped the RA settings to my controller so I can use them while driving my G27. Works like a charm.

Edit - I haven't used it for WRS yet, but if it's allowed then I may give it a go.

My PSN ID is CrAzY_bAsSiSt_83. Do I need to create a new ID such as: GTP_CrAzY_bAsSiSt_83???? Or am I good to go, just need to submit my replay????

Thats what I've done. I have a G25 with a DS3 taped to the spokes. It works a treat, doesn't get in the way and doesn't look too shabby either if you use black electrical tape.

@Kenkwilinski
Yes, read this:
Obviously by opening this thread you are interested in the WRS but are unsure why/how to make a new GTP prefixed user name.

Q. Why do I need to make a new account?
A. It shows commitment to the WRS, if you are willing to create a new account to use (but obviously not exclusively) with the WRS, then you are willing to put effort into this excellently organised and competitive racing series.

Q. What will the WRS do for me?
A. It will make you a better (GT5) driver. Tips, advice, tuning techniques if needed are available by simply asking. Regular WRS event threads are a goldmine for advice for taking tenths of your time, if not more! But this is just a tiny part of what WRS is.

Q. Sounds good, what now?
A. You need to create your new GTP prefixed account, this should take a matter of minutes.
1, On your XMB scroll to the left and create ‘new user’. Rename it what your GTP_ account will be!
2, Log in to this account, and you will now have the option to create a new PSN id.
3, Create your new PSN account. Make sure your PSN id has the prefix of GTP_ for example my normal PSN id is dhandes, my WRS name is GTP_dhandes.
Tips, you do not need a valid email address unless you plan to buy dlc etc, via this new account. In fact, your name, address does not even have to exist.
If you set your birth date as the day you create the account, you will even be awarded with a birthday gift car!
4, Log in to PSN with your new GTP_ account and send a friend request to your normal account.
5, While still in your GTP_ account, start-up GT5 and setup your account, button configuration, racing suit colour etc.
6, Congratulations, you now have a nice shiny new GTP_ account.

Q. I have my nice shiny new GTP_ account, now what?
A. You have to run the qualifier ( details here), unfortunately it requires you to be A-Spec level 12. You have a couple of choices; either start your GT life career from scratch to gain enough XP to rank you up to level 12 at least or… Use the XP and credit rich seasonal events!

Q. Seasonal events seem to be for me, now what!?
A. There are two main routes that you can take here, either do the seasonal events from this GTP_ account from scratch or lend yourself a good eligible car (this is the fastest way).

Currently, there are two sets of seasonal events available. If your main account has a NASCAR or Citroen C4 WRC, then go to your main account and gift your GTP_ account one of these (you can always send it back when you have run the race). Win the race (due to restrictions being lifted, it’s easier than ever), with the XP award you should be up to around level 14-16, with your winnings buy the vehicles required to enter the remaining events and win these as well. You should now be on your way to A-spec level mid20’s.

If your main account doesn’t have a NASCAR or C4 WRC then, if you have a car that is available to be used in a seasonal event race, then gift that to your GTP_ account, win the race, buy the vehicles that you can afford, win them events, until you have all seasonal events won, a bucket load of cash and a healthy A-spec level.

You can now run the WRS qualifier!

Hope to see you there in the WRS.

Changing brake bias does not give you an advantage in any way at all. You can map your buttons to include RA function.

If you have time to fiddle with the brake bias you're going too slow.
