Its funny how most of us are trying so hard for this qualifier when the times will never be posted . Will the list be published in "fastest to slowest"? or you just get put in a division and the list be in alphabetical order?

We'll be trying something new for the GT5 WRS: handicaps. A handicap will be calculated from the submitted time, and will be used to assign racers to divisions. Handicaps will also be calculated for each weekly event, will be tracked over time, and will be used as the primary basis for determining promotions.

When the registry is published, each racer's handicap will also be listed, but the time will remain hidden.

Hang on - surely if the clutch is banned because it can give you an advantage if you have access to one, then this should also be banned. Does this not give someone with a DFGT a potential advantage over someone who does not have one ??

I agree, Surely if im not allowed to use my clutch with my G25 this should be banned also? Seems hugely unfair to be able to do this on the fly if its restricted to the DFGT.

EDIT:

NVM I didn't read that it can be mapped to anything so I can map this feature to my G25 and do the same.

Time for bed i think lol.

This sounds very interesting to a decrepit old bugger with rheumatoid arthritis :grumpy:
Phillip.

This does sound interesting indeed. Will the handicap be added to your weekly WRS time, so that everyone has a chance at winning?

We won't be using handicaps to adjust times, but we may have a parallel weekly result which lists racers by how they performed against their individual handicap.

Is there anyway to create a new PSN account and copy your saved game across so that you don't have to start from scratch getting to level 12 again?

No, but you can gift a proper car to your new account to use for one of the bonus races in the seasonal events. The higher level ones will bring to level ~15 in only one five lap race.

Gift the GT-R and do SSR5, then complete the rest of Seasonal event races, you should end up on LV20 and 2.3 mill ish credits in the bank.

You should then have the Quali open to you to start your practicing of sector 2 and sector 3 but remember to save your best lap replays.

Phillip.

I'm actually blind.
I promise.
I'm just very good at touch typing and my monitor is braille.
:sly:

Will a new GTP exclusive sub forum be added? I noticed the old one does not need a password to be accessed anymore.

I am hard at work shaving seconds off my time in the qualifier, but the choice of qualifier seems sort of odd. I am sure this has been discussed at length by the 'people in charge' but:

1 Discussion of splits and times is frowned upon in the WRS, but if I hop on over to a '60 golds' thread, I could almost certainly find members' split times, as completion of the qualifying events is required in order to get all golds. Suppose I find a WRS member who posted their time before this was the announced qualifier, then I look to see what division they received, etc. Also, if I wanted to, I could just go on to youtube and search for something like 'AMG Intermediate Sector 2' and watch someone with a better time than I can manage on my own, and emulate their run. I just thought it was odd that a more arbitrary qualifier wasn't chosen.

2 If this were a more arbitrary race, I would have to go more with my gut and say, well I am never going to do any better than that, and submit it. However, now I can see that a 1:57.00 is at least possible on sector 2, so I should just keep shaving down to there knowing that, again, someone with 60 golds has already accomplished this.

3 Right now it is easy to jump up to the proper level in a new account, all you need is to gift yourself a Ford GT or Citroen C4, and you will have it in 5 laps. However, that requires seasonal events, which in a few weeks will be gone, and we have no idea what will come next or if it will be as generous in experience points, so theoretically this may turn future participants away if it will require them to open a new account with a GTP tag, and grind for a few days in order to run the qualifier.

I hope I haven't inspired anyone to do anything under point number 1. Anyways, I imagine there are enough serious, dedicated people here that these things won't matter to the majority of them, but again, I thought it was an odd choice for qualifier.

EDIT: BTW this is all based off of my understanding of WRS from an outsider's perspective, as I never had GT5P, so I could be completely off as far as discussion of things, etc.

I would say most people who just did the event for Gold quit when they got it. Not the case with the qualifier. Just getting gold isn't a true measure of how fast you can be. I feel certain there are folks getting close to 2 seconds under the Gold time.

Absolutely right. If people got gold and posted there time, they would not continue redoing the events to get the fastest time possible, they would stop. For the qualifier however, you would be silly to hit a gold time and stop!

Hey guys, can anyone help me out.

I've made another PSN account/user on my PS3 and I am friends with myself (lol)

The problem is when I try to gift my GTP account a car he doesn't show up in my friends list?

Am I doing something wrong?

I'm showing the car and I'm clicking on the little ribbon box and the friend list pops up with no one in it.

In the other menu where I can see all my cars, if I press triange a list pops up but "give to friend" is greyed out?

Have you played GT5 yet with your GTP_Tag? It won't show up until you've actually loaded up the game on it.

hmm.have you start GT5 on your new GTP_account?
That is required for identifying other GT5 user/friends.

Edit: dudeondacouch was faster :)

Phillip.

Don't do the GT-R, that race has expired. Start with the Ford GT or the Citroen CR4. You can even send it back to your main account after backing up your second account and you will have it in both accounts.

You can mod either of these 2 cars up so that just about anybody should be able to get gold. Do these 2 and that's 2.5 million credits and 210K XP. That should be enought to qualify you for most of the challenges and almost all the cars (other than racing cars)

I have started and have a GT5 save game for my GTP account but I haven't bought a car or done a race. I'll try that now...

I gifted a car to myself without buying a car or doing any races. Sometimes no one shows up in my community tab and I have to exit GT mode to the main menu and re-enter for people to show up. That would be the easiest thing to try.

The key issue is that in the Arcade and GT Mode Free Run events, it's not possible for us to verify everything that we would need to on a replay. The particularly applies to the qualifier, which is meant to gauge the speed of each participant. I'm not going to go into specifics here, just trust me that we did have significant deliberation on the subject, and the only choices were an event like this, or no WRS until PD provided updates that would allow us to properly verify the areas we needed to.

I think you'll find that the times you might see in that gold thread are not going to be anywhere close to the fastest drivers, which in turn set the curve for the divisions in WRS.

True. But I suspect the gold mark is going to mean little if anything once all of this shakes out.

Can you show me where you read that seasonal events are going to go away forever in a few weeks? We've received 3 rounds so far, the most recent showed up just this week. This will definitely get the first round of qualifiers through. Anyone who comes along after that may have to grind.

Our intent is to have fair, clean and dedicated racers. Not to have the absolute highest number of participants possible.

You have to save your replay to a memory stick. Load it to a PC. Compress it with winzip and PM it to the relevant person. Only in the event that you finish in the top 10 of a division.

You have to provide a replay and not a video so the person checking can choose their own views, check its the right event settings, etc.

Bit of a problem for me cos I dont have a memory stick :/ !

Sorry if I'm going on a bit but this does relate to this thread.

I'm trying to gift myself a Ford GT so that I can rank up enough to take part in the WRS qualifier.

So far I haven't be able to do it. my GTP account doesn't show up in my friends list.

Does anyone know if gifting between regions is an issue? My Original account is an EU one and the GTP one I've just created is a South African one? I starting to think that might be the problem?

No that shouldn't be a problem.. just make sure you have ran the game on the new account and bought your 1st car.. then you will show on the list to gift the car 👍
