Hi All,

I'm new to WRS, I've got some questions :( please ask me to post in a different thread if this isn't the place.

I hope I'm not confused. As I understood it when prologue was around, there was a weekly challenge to set your best lap time; then submit it. Cross your fingers and toes, and see where you came in the rankings. Is that still the case?

I've created a new playstation ID with GTP_ still need to do the seasonal races. I took the longer approach of levelling, as I'm out of practice :( one level before I can buy the GTR. I'm glad it's the ring for qualifiers for obvious reasons :) . I read in this thread the last date for submission was the 28th if I miss the submission date can I apply when the next challenge is set? (next month).
The final question I have, the rules dictate you can not use a clutch. Now I'm not sure if that means no clutch pedal or no gear paddles?, I love using paddles but I can see why the use of them in WRS wouldn't be allowed. But if that was the case wouldn't it say, you can not use the paddle shifts. I searched through the thread found some references to this question and as I understood it the clutch could be reassigned? so wasn't allowed. I guess I would like a yes you can use paddle shifts or no you can't.

I hope you understand my ramblings, thanks in advance to any replies :)

Hi - You're referring to the WRS, and we'll still be running the weekly series, after everyone has qualified.

As far as the seasonal events go, the events that bring the most cash are now the DTM cars at Nurb GT/D (Race Event 5) and the JGTC cars at HSR (Race Event 4). You'll need to level up to buy cars for those events to earn cash and XP. Many DTM cars are currently available in the online dealership.

If you miss the submission deadline, it will be 2-4 weeks before we open the qualifier again.

As far as the clutch is concerned, this ruling only applies to use of the clutch pedal and feature, as it offers an unfair time advantage to those who have it. Paddles are just fine.

Anyone competing in the NA GT Academy? Just curious to see how everyone is doing on the first round. Now that there is a one week break, I should finish up with my qualifier.

How long after we submit our times does it take to get a response?

Entries close on the 28th Jan. We all should know with a 2 week period of the closing date 👍 Not sure if it will come via PM or revealed in a new thread, maybe the latter :scared:

Submitted. 👍

One of my times was from Jan 1st, the other from Jan 3rd. Obviously I just wasted a lot of time trying to beat those times that I set early on

Oh well, I at least proved that I could come close to those times repeatedly, so they weren't a total fluke, and somewhat represent my skill level.

See everyone in the WRS! :gtpflag:

I have a compressed air tyre inflator and that's it, but even if I had something suitable compressed air has a fair amount of force, I wouldn't risk it on my pedals.

Mate if you are worried about too much pressure you can buy a can of air (i'm not joking) from Dick Smith for about 10 to 15 bucks. It's used for cleaning camera lenses and electronics etc.

I havn't had to pull my G25 pedals apart so I don't have intricate knowledge of their workings but i would assume each pedal has at least one pot, and without knowing your specific problem my guess would be that this is what's at fault. If this is the case a blow out with air and spraying the pot with contact cleaner may fix your problem. There's also the possibility that the pot is just worn out, if this is the case check for a part number on it and try Dick Smith or RS (radio spares), RS is the best bet here, and they should be able to source it for you.

Good luck mate 👍

It's a shame you don't live closer I could probably help you out, if you want and need help PM me and I'll help as much as I can.

I was but a 131st ranking in Northeast has ended my run. :(

Now my focus can go towards the qualifier and WRS.

Hmmm.. Have to post in order to enable the PM function, so I actually can submit my VERY first time.. So good luck to everybody in the WRS this is SO much fun:)

Regarding the use of clutch.
Obviously I didn't use It In my submitted times, But I don't think It Is quicker than using Paddles. It's not a progressive clutch & the SLS Is a 7 speed so H pattern runs out of gates.
Hope they update the clutch feature for G25 users.

ISSUE HELP PLEASE
My G25 brake pedal tends to flick on & off as If It's sticking slightly, any ideas on this guys?

Fact remains that all of the top times on the official GT5Prolouge leaderboards were set with clutch enabled and there is no reason to doubt that GT5 will be the same.

Also, if you manage to reach seventh gear in the qualifier I congratulate you. You must be really fast. :sly:

I agree... the speed of paddle changes in GT5 has increased significantly vs Prologue and IMO, you cannot gain an advantage with the cluth anymore.

@addictions

I had the same issue awhile back and this worked for me.

Press brake completely to the floor then release by moving your foot sideways to let the pedal snap back..there is quite abit of spring pressure so it should make a sizeable amount of noise..i've had no trouble for 2 months now.

Well, I have just wrote my current times down, as my PS3 has actually decided to read disks again and I know it probably won't last long. I would like another run, but who knows whether the PS3 will feel like working when I want it too. It has been doing this for the past two weeks, so I was going to open it up and see if cleaning the laser makes it any better, but I don't have the correct screwdriver, so it will have wait until I get one.:irked: If cleaning it doesn't work, I guess I'll have to get a new laser or a new drive as it will probably not work at all soon.:(

The only good thing is after writing my times down and exporting my replays, I can submit my current times if I don't manage to get another go at it, I probably only have a few more tenths in me anyway.;)

Bugger me, I had my pedals cleaned out but the throttle pedal is still sticking.

Does WD40 do the job just as well?

That seriously worked? If only my pedals were that simple.

I'm 132. :(

I hadn't realized yesterday was the last day until someone told me, yesterday. :dunce:
I have been busy cleaning up around here.

I will be submitting my times once I take a look at them.
I'm looking to be in D3 again.

Good luck to all.

Does it say for electronics on the can? I can't remember it's been a long time since I've used it. I know you can spray it into a dizzy to drive out moisture but unless it says for electronics I wouldn't risk it. Best to go with contact cleaner.

Geez I'd post you some I've got about four cans of it lying around but I don't think Aus Post would be too happy about it. :sly:

Good Luck

I hit my computer, ps3, receiver (anything with debris on it, really) with compressed air whenever it's dirty/dusty.

You can safely use up to 25PSI from a compressor (or the can-o-air @ $10/per) with an analog trigger on electronics (don't just mash the pedal and aim at things that look delicate ;)), assuming whatever device you're cleaning is unplugged and not holding a charge. Don't turn anything on right away if you suspect that there are traces of water in the air. 10-15 minutes of wait time, maximum, should be plenty long enough for the amount of water I'm talking about. If there is some residual water coming through your adapter, drain the tank.

If you don't have a compressor, your local hardware store probably wouldn't mind you using theirs if you ask politely.

I just use a vacuum cleaner hose. Works like a charm and then I know I'm not just packing the dust into little corners and cracks.

CLEANS: WD-40 gets under dirt, marks and grease making it easy to wipe away. It also dissolves adhesives, allowing easy removal of labels, tape, and stickers
PROTECTS: WD-40 protects metal surfaces with corrosion-resistant ingredients to shield against moisture and other corrosive elements
LUBRICATES: WD-40's lubricating ingredients are widely dispersed and hold firmly to all moving parts
PENETRATES: WD-40 loosens rust-to-metal bonds and frees stuck, frozen or rusted metal parts
DISPLACES MOISTURE: Because WD-40 displaces moisture, it quickly dries out electrical systems to eliminate moisture-induced short circuits. Turn the power off before you spray

Thanks for the comments guys. Yes I wish I could get Into 7th on the qualifier lol.

As for the pedal I've stripped It down & I'm going to take the sensor back a knotch.

True, I use one alongside the compressed air when I'm cleaning out my PS3. I need a little more force than a vacuum alone to dislodge some of the gunk though, since I smoke and it makes dust into a thick goo.

That is great help had that exact problem Thanks mate.

Tried again this weekend: no improvement and seemed to know the track by now.

Got close to my best 0,6 slower then the total best time, so believed I should not push further.

Submitted.

Now time to train on Sector 1 and 4.

Have really enjoyed this set up and am looking forward to the main event(s). Congratulations to those who run it. Top work.

I'm just about to submit my times. Was double checking that I'd got the PM in the right format and noticed that the format in the qualifier instruction post is slightly different to the one Vaxen gives as an example in this thread (post 45). It uses "Name" rather than "PSN" and doesn't include a field for Country.

Presumable it's the one in the main post we should use?

I managed to get into the next round (Ranked 76th in West, 189th overall), but round 2 won't be posted until after the quali deadline. I started my quali run yesterday, will be running with the same focus I put against the academy for the next few nights this week. Should be representative of a normal WRS effort for me. 👍

You needed to make your first forum post and have it approved. I've just approved the forum post, you should be able to PM now. 👍
