I think for this one we should have to submit the distance we managed to get without understeering off into the dust!
What is the distance turn one? That is my answer.

I felt that I qualified a little over my true level for GT5 because I was pretty comfortable at Nurb. No danger of that happening this time. I have no clue at Willow and despite owning several games with Brands Hatch, I still cant get turn one right.

It may be helpful to put the racing line on when learning the track. It makes you aware of (possible) brake points and should keep you on track until your a little more familiar with the circuit.

It's not for everybody (i'm not a fan of it) but may help you :)

I hear you There Barra I had the same problem in the GT5 qualifier. I ended up qualifying higher then I should have as I had been running the ring a lot when I did the qualifier. looking forward to see if my time spent on iRacing has helped me on GT6. (or has hindered me)

Lol, me 2. I think i've become a much better driver, but think I might have become slower in GT6. I have to unlearn some certain clean driving for GT6, with the ABS on 1 you can do some insane braking that would definitely kill you in iRacing... so I'm slower now, but hoping to be faster when I put some good time in GT6.

Two things
1- what if one laps amazing and the others crap. (I love brands hatch and driven it IRL a couple times)
2- glad its an even playing field but i can see some getting washed away with better tuners in the series

Then you should probably have worked more on the crap one.

No, seriously, you'll want both laps to represent you're level of driving.

Both laps will weigh in just as much, so if one lap is crap, you'll end up in a lower division than you should actually be, that is not something you'll want, or the other guys in WRS. So make sure you give both laps your best :)

What type of file should the replay be that I'm submitting? The "uploader" when messaging the bot isn't recognizing the file off my PS3..

Already? Wow, ive put in 20lps on each, saved ghost and will be retrying boxing day.
My advise is dont rush it as it is one chance scenario.

.zip

But you can't be serious that you're already submitting 3 hours after it's been put up, right

/edit: btw @WRSFetchBot isn't ready to accept registrations yet.

What a lovely combo this seems and the whole game itself looks staggering
I'm planning to rent this somewhen in the holidays for 1 and a half day and I felt somewhat relieved to hear the qualifier needs to spend no time in career mode like its predecessor.. The only thing that bothers me now is the time that one needs to adjust to the new physics... Have fun guys :gtpflag:

Liking the replay timing feature, where it highlights your fastest sector as you fast forward thru the laps. I then write those down to see my fastest sectors, it makes it easier to figure out what your best lap can be.

How exactly does the replay thing work....cos best lap replay appears to show nothing to me at all. Slightly confused.

I'm satisfied with my time at Willow already, so I'm moving onto Brands now, I can' see how anyone would be able to put two representative laps together already though

Just click the replay, it will show you the whole run, not just best lap. Then go to timing option, and you will see all the sector timing. The fastest sector will turn a different color as you improve sector times going thru the replay. I then note the lap for a particular sector and watch that sector on the replay.

You can only submit one time. I'd highly recommend you spend some more time on it. If you improve, you won't be able to submit that time. And then during regular WRS weeks, you might smoke the competition in your division because your qualifier wasn't representative enough.

Just a suggestion 👍.

There's no splits on best lap replay. It's a bug. Patrick was talking about saving the regular replay for checking splits from there.

If I watch a single lap though which I saved, I can't see any splits, right? I have to save a WHOLE replay to do that?

Edit - thanks Mohit. I wish they'd left the splits view as it was :'(

You don't even need to save it, you can just watch it, by hitting the replay button. Don't forget to save best lap, if you have one during that run.

What everyone else has said on the "other lap is crap" comment. Run the track until you know it. Most people will spend many hours on this qualifier, that's why we're giving you 3 weeks.

We run both tuning events and tuning restricted events, and most people who make tunes post them for other members to use. This is a community first, a competition second.

Thank you gentlemen for organizing this qualifier. 👍

I was duly punished for the impatience I displayed last night... We were hit by an ice storm and been without power since around 9 am. It came back about an hour ago...

The ice just missed us here in Southern Maine. I'm missing California already. :sly:

I've added this bullet to the third post in the qualifier thread. I've been directly contacted by 2 members, who believe there is an advantage to be gained here. Simply said, don't do it.

  • Breaking boundary rules on the final corner of the lap prior to your best lap is strictly forbidden. We will make cursory checks of Start/Finish line speed on all replays, and will disqualify outliers.

I got a quick question about track boundries around Willow. Where there isn't any rumble strips, is the track edge the white line, or the end of the tarmac? ( the turn I'm thinking of has no extra tarmarc really, its about say 9/10ths if a tire width. And does a wheel count as off road as soon as any part is touching the sand/grass/out of bounds, or when over 50% of the tire is off track?

How can you police this though? It's possible to go any varying distance from the outside of the corner, so anyone could gain a slight advantage compared to others, and you'd have no way of knowing?

I already stated how we can police it. By monitoring SFL speed. We know the relative limit. And if you are over it, and want to prove you can do it without cheating, then prove it to us. The onus will be on you to prove you are not cheating.

It's impossible to prove if you're only out by a small percentage though, it can easily be explained by having a good exit from the last corner...

Man that sucks. Luckily I haven't lost power for more than 15 minutes. But trees are breaking and falling on driveways (luckily my car was in the garage). Let me repeat: ice is causing trees to freeze and snap (there's no wind at all) :scared:.

I don't remember seeing anything like this.

Really enjoying the Willow Springs combo, haven't given the other one a try yet.

Read the entire qualifier thread, this has been addressed.

  • The inside of the white line is the track boundary, as detailed below.

If you are going a speed that cannot be replicated without cheating, you will be disqualified.

Yes, you are fast. We have some fast drivers on our staff as well.

I don't understand why you are insisting on making this so difficult. It's easy. Read the rules, don't cheat.

You can't 100% prove it though, it would make more sense if it was allowed.
